Tacklers can disable RT and Micro-Warp

Tacklers currently have a module called Engine Suppressor that slows an enemy to roughly 50% of their normal speed.

 

Seeing as Spy-drones, Micro-locators, and Plasma Webs can all pull Tacklers out of their cloak, I propose a riposte.

 

Suggestion:

 

Give Engine Suppressor the ability to prevent Reverse Thruster modules and Micro Warp abilites from being used for its duration. As Warp Gates are a structure, they would not be affected. Engine Suppressor can still be disabled if the target cloaks or breaks line-of-sight.

The Gunship finally got a bit of a buff with the reduced cooldown of Overdrive, and Tacklers finally got a much-needed damage buff and reduced cooldown to their Chameleon ability. I think Commands might have also had a buff, but I can’t say for sure.

 

I’m just saying, fighters are overdue for a bit of love.

Commands got recently a buff on their special : 13 energy/damage in t5 (was 8 in all tier before).

Nope, I got it right. Engine Suppressor is -50% speed for 10 seconds. You were thinking of Inhibitor Beam which disables AB indefinitely.

I’m inclined to agree. MWD isn’t problematic, RT is. Though in all honesty I’ll very much prefer to remove RT entirely or nerf it to oblivion.

Command got a nerf in T1, remained the same in T2, and got buff in T3-5. Refer to command guide.

IMO not a major change for tacklers. We can cloak more often… but that’s just about it. Plus, it’s not good to rely on Chameleon as an escape plan, considering the sheer amount of hard counters it has. I hope this change won’t give new players bad habits.

Fox, you are thinking of the wrong module. The one I am talking about (Engine Suppressor) does indeed have a cooldown and only lasts for 10 seconds. You are talking about Inhibitor Beam which is indefinite, so long as you maintain line-of-sight, and has almost no cooldown.

Countering RT was only part of the suggestion. MWD doesn’t have to be problematic, this is a general buff suggestion for Tacklers.

Logically, it doesn’t make sense for there to be so many hard counters to Chameleon and none for MWD. As Tacklers are specifically designed to reduce enemy mobility and prevent them from escape, giving them a hard counter to MWD makes sense.

MWD comes with an inherent weakness: it’s charge-up time. Granted, it’s not foolproof, but it’s still a weakness anyone can exploit. I might even go as far as to suggest that recons are anti-tackler (in the sense that they are meant to counter ships that can cloak, including themselves). 

 

However, I wouldn’t reject an ES buff (and a very thematic idea as well), just that we’ve all been doing pretty well without it so I didn’t think it would be necessary.

IB also has insane range that makes it perfect for debuff farming. Can’t imagine what will happen if IB disables MWD and RT.

But yeah, I dunno if this buff would be wise or not. I’d say absolutely for the anti-RT part, because that’s hella OP right now, but the anti-microwarp bit might unbalance things a bit. I’m not entirely sure.

But most ships don’t work as advertised. 

i don’t see the counter for mwd strictly being something that “holds you from warping”.

 

web can be a nice gift on the journey away, ecms can also disrupt it with timing, even a well timed command missile. i think mwd has enough counters, especially since it’s not an instant displacement, especially without risk to collide.
