Whatever tacklers are good, tackle them with engine suppressor and bam, bye bye afterburners, they can no longer run faster than you. They are just an annoyance. The only thing you need to do is anticipate what beacons they are going to. Most of these tackler pilots are really weak…I don’t see them as a problem, as a tackler/gunship player. Interceptors can catch them too, covert ops with web, recons, ECM. I really don’t see why the hate.
Just don’t nerf the drones, they are fine as they are. I have enough energy drain from 2 active modules + ECM if unlucky, while flying the tacklers. I hate that suggestion.

They are… when you have them in your team. A 5vs5 team battle with 2 or tree of this players on your side and a frigball on the other side and you will be spawn/camped, no matter how good you are. And that’s was only one example.
Yes bad players will be bad in all kind of ship, but actually in t5 “big ship and big guns” helps a lot who are not so “good”. Which means that a weak pilots frigball (2 guards and an engi in 5vs5 match) can’t be faced if you don’t have the right countermeasure (and a tackler’s double drones swarm it’s not a valid countermeasure).
I like good tackler’s pilots, but something must need to be done against BAD ones.
On the other hand, in a 5v5 I have had games where 4 pilots are 2 drone tacklers. So 8 drones appear round a beacon or around the captain and suddenly it becomes very over powered. Unless I have my 5k laser, no one can even get close. In large games it wouldn’t be a problem, but in the smaller matches (t4/t5) the amount of auto aim from the drones kills the fun (even with a 5k laser equipped, half the match is spent shooting the drones anyway with their 32-50 second cool down depending on the mk of the drone). If you fly there in an interceptor, suddenly 4 small drones drop you instantly. If you stay 3-4km away in a guard for example, it is hard to dodge the heavy drones so you need a longer ranged weapon. Usually the tackler swarm will carry ice beam as well and use it as a slowing method for the drones to hit more easily. If you do get close and somehow you dodge all the drone shots (which is virtually impossible with the projectile speed buffs), they cloak or run away at 700m/s and re deploy their drones.
In small numbers it is fine, usually a fast recon or another tackler can counter this, but in large groups with this build in a small game it makes me want to disconnect every time
I think drones needs rework. Preventing more than 1 will be a good idea ,
Energy usage of drones will not work cause I’ve 225 energy regen per second , a.burners use 129 with cruise engine , chamelon needs 60 so I can continue pooping drones np.
I did use speed tackler with 2 drones it was owerpowered before the drone buff , now more and more players use it and I dont wanna use it. Everyone thinks that speed tackler is a coward ship , well in good hands its a god ship , 1 see me running other see me coming, they both die in the end.
Now I use tackler at bomb games and beginning of capture beacon games , for the rest loki just fine.

No you are wrong. I am not pissed at drones, I am pissed at people in fast tacklers spamming drones, mainly those that are on my own team. I propose to modify drones in order to discourage this practice.

His idea wouldn’t nerf them to the point of being useless. His idea would, (like he said) discourage people from flying tacklers in that way. Tacklers are meant to hunt interceptors, not fly around dropping drones, cloaking, and running away.

All of the solutions you presented could work. All of them at the same time wouldn’t be the best choice, but they all could work, whether they are single changes or groups.
The two that I think would be most useful are limiting the tackler to only being able to have 1 drone equipped and drones cannot fire while tackler is cloaked.
If the tackler is cloaked, the drone is vulnerable, the enemy doesn’t have much else to shoot at in a small battle. If it also can’t fire…I’d find it useless.

just keep it as it is. Bad players will always be an issue no matter what ship their flying. If you nerf tacklers you get other ships to be an annoyance, then people will complain about those players using them.
Bad players will not always be bad players, they will be better or they will quit the game because they will not progress fast enough because of their bad playing style.
I agree that speedy double drone tacklers are of no use in any pvp game but in invasion it’s fun as hell.
So please don’t nerf tacklers.

No resi. I only use 1 drone + engine inh + painter. I already need 1 hull energy regen module to keep up in a satisfactory way. And then ECM_noob shows his ugly face.
Also, the cruise drone spammers wouldn’t mind so much, they probably would just suck a bit more.
As a primary Tackler user, I would restrict to one drone at time or give drones energy usage per second. Drones alone are weak, but can be devastating when deployed both of them to the face (its like cruise missile if both of them hit)
What do you mean by spread in this case? (I never used these drones until a couple of weeks ago) Like introduce some inaccuracy so not every hit is successful? As far as I can see, the slow speed of the shot is sufficient to guarantee that not all shots hit.
