Hmm I was “testing” the Nukes last night… I quickly found that
A. Limited damage. As soon as you fly though the groups … and those that knew the sound … move away. They didn’t have to move far.
B. Zoming in at over 420+ you may initially been hard to hit… but if the right Frigs were there with the afterburner slowdown field … you know its there ONLY as you fly into it as everything all of a sudden looks like rising heat waves and quickly your like in a burning barn with all the doors closed if you were the only one the group had to concentrate on.
C. Dropping a few “nukes” tends to piss off a few “harden core” and you soon become the “TARGET”
specially if your “LUCKY” enough to have taken out one or provided enough damage to get an assist.
That as well. I’ve seen people use nukes on lone LRFs
That would be me possibly. I rarely lose the kill.
Here’s my latest game. The triple kill, one nuke.

Nukes do take some skill when it’s not just drone killing. It may not take too much, but it’s more skill than an unguided missile. I’m also using Mk.III nukes because it’s worth it. If there really was nukespam, it would die away because people people would know the signs of a dropped nuke.
I wish there was a medal for getting a lot of medals rapidly.

Doesn’t really matter, considering that the very act of eliminating the covert ops makes it re-spawn with ya know, a new nuke.

You’re not a very smart pilot, are you? =/
I mean, don’t get offended, but just rushing in, dropping a nuke and gtfo’ing is EXACTLY what gets CovOps pilots killed all the time, now.

It’s a necessary risk. It’s safer to have adaptive camo on while flying in towards beacons. They won’t get a target lock, the combat drones will hit you while you’re right there so stack thermal resists. Once you’ve dropped the nuke it’s just GTFO because you’re going to have a few target locks, speed is a requirement. You also need to be aware of who’s there and how they’re flying, and where to position it. A lone guard isn’t worth it, a fleet of interceptors can be. You also have to look at where your team is, can they be the cleanup crew or are you solo? If you’re solo, not worth it. If they’re right there with you, you’ll disrupt them more than help them.
Like I said, there’s a strategy and skill to nukes, spamming isn’t effective.
You’re telling me stuff I already know. But what I see on the field is the exact opposite of that.

Heck no…I sure as heck not offended and rightfully shouldn’t be when there will always be ppl on here with globs of “knowledge and game experience” thats why I am reading stuff on the forum… learning and then attempting to “test” what I have gleaned. It’s to me part of gaining experience in this game even though you may pay the price of getting ‘Wiped out’ quickly until you get the hang of it
To me T3 currently plays more towards the “Team concept” and action more than T2 so being a “Solo” type pilot it is going to require alot of situational requirement\awareness.

My recon counters everything you just said. We’ll see you coming from 3k out and then u know what that means…Spydrone for you! No more stealthy stealthy

To be fair, CovOps can cover 7k under camo, and drone range is 4900, its a shame no one is Camoing from 6k range.
But nonetheless, there is still a micro locator that will be put in a smart position and not in a middle of a beacon that will cover huge area close to beacon.
Oh and not so many recons flying in T3 for some weird reason… 1-2 per game… lets keep it this way :))
I was referring more to using the Micro-locator with the Rank 8 Empire Recon…3k range in every direction. I normally drop them about 1k in front of beacons so I’m actually covering 4k in front of the beacon and about 2k behind it and on the sides. Once that drops him out of stealth then spydrone so he drops faster and can’t heal.
Playing T3 feels like stealing candy from babies now…I almost feel guilty about racking up all those kills ;D
No, what wins them the game is deploying nukes and self-destructing.
Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.
I have to conclude that Tier 3 is broken, though it’s never easy to explain how. It’s just… well, it’s just that I am saving up to buy T4 ships, and do indeed own one already, yet I keep going back to fly Tier 2 because that tier “feels right”.
I think the problem is there is just too much stuff in T3. Too many weapons, too many modules, too many nukes and too many implants. It’s too cluttered to work properly; stuff keeps falling off and getting jammed in the gears.
No it’s the added number of choices with implants, modules, and weapon choice that allow for a more custom tailored ship to the role you intend to play.
Nukes take some getting used to but after awhile I think you’ll notice everybody will clear the area as soon as they hear the “beep…beep…beep” and move back in once it blows up.
Not yet. But their safest use is clearing out a beacon of drones in capture the beacons.

talk about the beep… beep… beep… yea… I ran in the wrong direction… right into middle of the blankity blank blank…
and on another subject …why is it the frigging Command ships in T3 are SLOWER than then some of the frigates ?
next to the engineering frigs and the LRF frigs… they seem to have a come get me sign well sort of … there is no icon like on the frigs which makes it easy to identify you to everyone. Other than the tall tale shield that pops up and is useless if your running away eating up energy… stay still and pretty soon the HAIL raining down on you will deplete it. Also I found out by gosh Plasma Web used by a skilled pilot will whipe it clean and your taosted even if you had activated it nano seconds before he arrived.
Talk about broken… T2 it is getting down right LRF sniper happy in there.

Dunno what you’re doing there. Katana S is one of my favorite ships right now. It’s fast, because I put lightweight hull Mk 3 in there, because who cares it’s a Jericho ship. No shields = death.
Activate speed buff and it can run with inties, no problem. That means it works for bomb runs even. It may not be as fast as a Wolf, but it can really take a beating and get out alive. Sometimes I just drive it through a bunch of baddies and plant.
