Am I alone in thinking that the way XP is used in this game is grossly un-fun?
For starters, and as I mentioned in another post, leveling synergy is totally unrewarding: not only do you have very little idea of what exactly is improving on your ship, you also have no control over it. I know it would take some rebalancing, but I ask again, dear devs, give us a tech tree where we have some little control over our ship’s customization as we level up.
But that’s not why I’m posting now…
What about all the xp you earn with maxed-synergy ships? Thousands and thousands of xp points you earn are wasted every time you play with your favorite ships, which are almost certainly at max synergy.
My question is: what can be done with this wasted xp? Suggestions:
- Raise the money-cost of battle boosters and allow xp accrued on a maxed ship can be used to purchase boosters at a reduced rate. In this way, extra xp becomes a “currency” to be used to temporarily upgrade your ship.
- Create a system where extra xp can be periodically exchanged for rep or loyalty - but only for the faction whose ship you’re flying (ie: I get 10k extra xp flying a Hydra 2, which I can cash in for 1k Empire rep or 500 Warden/Legion loyalty) I think this would give someone added incentive to fly ships for the faction they’re currently grinding for. RPers rejoice!
- Save up a ton of xp (200k maybe?) to purchase “bigger”, but still temporary things: upgrades to missile capacity, reduced gun overheat, 5 sec. reduced cooldown on racial, etc.
- Cosmetic purchases? Not saying use extra xp in lieu of gold, just make it a) temporary and b) cost a lot xp. Stickers? Skins? Different colored laZors? Whatever…
Anyone else agree? Offer other suggestions? Either way, something more has to be done with synergy.
