Lazors have their uses. Best support tool on fighters and frigates. I play well as frig protector using Assault Lasers on both either Guard or Engineer

 

Plasma - ultra efficient shield stripping - Plasma Gun another worthy weapon for consideration. The only inty weapon to be able to shoot for max potential damage farther than 1,000m. Positron sniping - one shot takes out inty shields combo that with shrapnel brawlers…

 

There are still a handful of useless guns but to sum it down to rail pwns all … sounds too much like DSR obsessed piloting.

 

Also - something seems broken with Ion guns (fighter class) too damned efficient. Haven’t worked it out yet but a couple of T3 regulars I see often use it to magical effect - killing both shields and hulls in seconds.

The only ones I see able to do that are bots who hit 100% of the time with it and kill your inty in about 3 seconds.

I got good aim and at medium range can sustain the beam for the full length of overheating time. But those 2 guys I see - they kill things much faster than I can. It’s something to do with the weapon’s variable damage I believe. They know something others don’t.

What the #$%!@ is this?  Most of these changes would be terrible.  Hell no.

Personally, I think command ships are under powered. They are easy to kill. If an ECM gets to you and drains your energy and shoots you, your shield is done for. Everyone assumes command ships have full capacitors when they are fighting. Truth is, they’re usually less than 75%.

I tend to agree, Rick, though I admit I don’t really know how to kit out commands in T3 and up…

Actually let me elaborate on the “HELL NO”.  I have a hunch the guy(s) coming up with this are primarily flying their ECM Interceptors.  You wanna just run around locking down everyone and killing a target that cant fight back?

Nope, I fly engineers primarily with Tacklers, Guards and very occasionally my ECM when I’m on detonation. Not sure about the others, though.

You mean simply denying them their keyboard? Very unsportsmanlike.

 

Engineers are fine as is.  Command ships are fine (maybe a little underpowered).  Maybe its time to start looking at interceptors in general, particularly ECM.  Maybe its time to look at doing what most other PVP games do, and build in stacking immunity/resistance to crowd control so they can’t just spam it and casually slay their defenseless target.

ECM may or may not get a rework. I’m with Jasan on his stance on the ECM. But adding in immunity to disabling abilities would be a good premise if executed correctly…

nopes - overall tankiness is down but only by a small amount. more interestingly though is potential tankiness is a little higher.

when I try to keep regen at old values, res takes a hit

keep res’s old values and regen or capacity takes a hit

didn’t jot down old speed numbers but trade off in that dept. is noticeable as well

and hull HP is unavoidably down where else you had that one saving grace previously

going one way will give you better numbers now than in old system but alot of minus points in the other areas

trying to stay best of both worlds (energy+shields) and you’ll be weaker overall than before where it was the best thing to do.

so I guess they made Command pilots choose and specialize to go one way or the other instead of best of both worlds being the default choice.

mmm … numbers on your Katana S now is better than the one before on all stats that matters ?

 

I can pull some big numbers on one aspect but the rest will go down lower than what it was before … no middle ground.

One aspect of it went better all the way to absolute insanity. The downgrade on the second aspect is very light, enough to not even look at it because of the other one.

Guess we’ll have to see how it translates on the field. I can’t fly my R12 without getting into T5 today. And still no $ for Mk.II’s so … it’ll be awhile for me to find out for sure :slight_smile: Gotta love The Grind.
