Suggestion / Discussion - Tacklers

Can you enlighten us?

  1. I see Tacklers ignore the fact that they have range as their strength. Trigger Target Painter at range, start shooting them, fire a missile. They’ll often see that as a big threat, so they’ll somehow get the Painter off you. That’s when you use both the Painter AND Engine Suppressor on them.

  1. Sentry Drone. This thing is the most underrated module in the game. It keeps pilots from capturing Beacons and, while Ceptors have to hide from it (damage is usually too high), you can just take out said Ceptors while they’re hiding from it. Fortunately for you, most pilots completely ignore the Sentry, so you can either farm kills, assists, both, or laugh maniacally at their feeble attempts of capturing a Beacon.

  1. You’re a Support ship, not a frontline Fighter. Leave that to the Gunships rushing ahead of you. Just calmly stroll on towards the combat area, assist friendly ships in taking the enemy down. I know I said the opposite earlier, but you only go near Beacons if OTHER friendlies are there.

  1. Inhibitor Beam is vaguely good against Ceptors. You remove their ability to afterburn, you remove 80% of their tank. If you want to be a dedicated Ceptor killer, this is your must-have module, otherwise, don’t bother.

  1. You do not have any tank. So don’t go close to the enemy lines. your saving grace is not getting targeted by Recons (if they drone you, you die without support) and cloak if things start getting hairy (no friendlies on target area).

And that’s it. After this, you’ll need 80% flying skills, so you’re on your own from here.

I love the fact that tackler’s special can be countered by all 3 interceptors: energy drain, plasma web and any recon module but cloak. Arent tacklers made to fight interceptors? I’d love a turning rate debuff on inhibitor beam (more effective on ceptors, ineffective against frigates), but then The Ships of the game would feel… uncomfortable.

Target painter seems weak, on higher tiers people stack lots of resistances so the damage buff isnt noticable. Same with the command ship, the only good thing aobut it is its megashield and free assists. (also it doesnt command or do anything to make people do something like focusing target or defending)

p.s. according to wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interceptor_aircraft#Design interceptors should be renamed to air superiorty fighters, and fighters to attack planes (ships if you want), but then the only craft fitting this role is gunship.

Dont underestimate power of target painter and ion emitter…

Tacklers aren’t easy ships to fly, as many have already pointed out. (The recent patches really helped tacklers a lot though.) You shouldn’t be attracting more aggro than you can handle; let other ships do the tanking.

But it’s not that easy to keep ions focused on intys… I still prefer singularities or gauss.

I think they should make engine suppressor the F function and make the chameleon an optional active module.

With the nerf on the Spy Drones, Tacklers are awesome, I started flying the Bear this weekend and I got 4 million synergy in 2 days, using Gauss, with the insane crit chance and the 2 cpu, that thing is a killing machine.

the best idea or the simplest to do it as this.

Leave the Tacklers Special Camo as is.

If there are Micro Locators around, it can still cloak but with the same effect as the Covert Ops Camo (Non targetable) but have its ion trail very small.

Once the cloak wears off, the tackler gets a bonus weapon boost of 15% for 5 seconds.

The point of this class is for Hit and Run and Cloak and come back tactics. So this change would probably fix everything.

Tacklers are great as they are, and sit in a very comfortable spot balance wise, there is no need to buff or rework tacklers at this current stage of the game.

Ion Tiger is quite nice, its a psedo gunship
