I’ve got the Stingray finally, yaaay, and other than loving its special modules I am also saddened about a few things. I don’t know why but it suffers enormous amount of collision and explosion damage. I have mk4 collision compensator and still it pops like a balloon. This ship is meant to be a close range fighter, a real destroyer killer, but with full hull and some shield it gets destroyed from ship explosions. Yes, there is the emergency barrier that I use and there is the combat reboot too but it is still too weak. Any interceptor is more agile than this ship. The other thing is the modifiers. Why does it have one modifier less compared to other r10 ships. A hull or an engine module would help a lot and it would not make the ship OP.

Yup. It’s pretty easy to kill in pvp, and I didn’t know it had just 7 passives. A buff is needed, imo.
A side note: How did you get it in so little time? I’m grinding hard to get that ship, but I’m currently at 132 pieces…

With 500M+ credits, 4500+ GS, and lot of grinding.

I am having fun with it… so I would say yes. Only this little deficiency it has what takes away some of the fun.
Im not hurrying to craft any of the prems,there is that Broker tasks that give you 30 monos if you make one so i guess i will play for Archelon,the easiest one to make(hopefully)my concern are the T5 destroyers.
Also judging by how sharp that thing is you still have to be thankful that you didnt got stuck in any obstacles so far.That thing is a flying spear.

And, it’s really boring.
But anyway, I think it sounds really stupid, but I think the explosion damage from ships is actually really high. A frigate deals about 1.5k damage if you are close when it explodes, I died lots of times while plasma arking stuff…

Well I am not getting stuck too often but bumping into everything. I’ve got stuck inside New Eden station during my early test flights though.

Yup. I am prepped with all the survival kits, modules, implants… you name it. And about not staying close… its stinger has 300m 200 m range but it deals more damage if you are closer.

About the Overdrive type sting: I think it has more than 300 m range, or at least the damage angle is wider than plasma ark, because I find myself getting damaged lots of times by stingrays when playing interceptors, while being on their sides.

It has wider arc yes. But to the front it has about 300 200 meter range (not 100%, somewhere between 250-300). Tested on a destroyer in custom mode. ON max arc range it deals very little damage.
Edit: Checked it again on a missile launcher. It has 200 m range. Strange it showed me 300 with destro testing. DD may be bigger with modules and that is why it dealt damage to it. I tested from the broadside.
For explosions and collisions you would need to test it vs another gunship with no hull modifiers equipped. Crash them 90° at max speed using 1 collision comp. Then Shoot them with an independent ship firing coils or whatever.

I will because it is getting on my nerves and I want to cry about it then.
If they did give it “special properties” for explosions and collision, well it doesn’t make sense given interceptors are just as thin and fragile yet receive _less_ of that damage XD
Imho it needs a major buff. I love using it but it simply doesn’t stand strong in a dogfight like good ol’ Empire gunships.
8 slots and a major buff to collision and explosion resistance would be great. As of now it has the durability of a stripped interceptor.

Empire gunships in a dogfight? Every time I play empire gunship I get swarmed by interceptors, and with the low rotation I can do nothing to them… That’s why I play fed gunships, and I think stingray is specifically built for dogfights.

This may be true but fails achieving. It is like a tackler. Rush, deal damage, chicken out, run away if you can survive, heal.

Well, in general I treat every federation gunship mostly like an interceptor: you get behind enemy lines, you deal a bunch of damage with bubbles, and when things start to get dangerous, you use combat reboot+engine overcharge and get away, and imo since the stingray isn’t that tough, you can’t do that, but with the increased maneuverability, you can successfully kill interceptors with bubbles. I didn’t try the ship yet, but from what I’ve seen and from its stats, that is what the ship is supposed to do.

Even a single interceptor takes shield out with 2-3 shots and same with the hull. I use self healers but without engi (not having any is a trend again lately) it is even worse and I end up hiding (running away) and trying to heal.

The only point I have to disagree with is the absence of engineers. Right now (or at least, 1 week ago), there were always 1-2 engies on each team, Imo because the indestructible drones make them really powerful against interceptors, and they make shield regen builds even more powerful.
Ask grande18 how to use Stingray I think he is one of the best Stingray pilots in the game ATM
