The Sands of Time are not kind with this game. It’s getting old and technical limitations are preventing better and newer innovations to get implemented.
Unreal 4 Engine could offer a new and better opportunity to make this game more attractive, removing current limitations and introducing new features.
Some technical restrictions could easily get removed. Possibilities are endless.
It’s only a matter of time, before this game will get crushed under its heels by better or more attractive games of the same genre.
This game needs a reboot of some kind, just to keep up.
If that’s not possible, then perhaps you should sell the License rights to someone, who can do just that.
Write down your opinions and let me know what you think.

Koromac
Do you even know how much time and money it takes to do that ?
You can’t just request “Do it again but better or let someone do it”.
And SC is very far from ugly. Don’t be so pessimistic. .
It isn’t that bad…I’m sure if they used higher res textures and models for certain things it could look just as good as any modern game and also require the same high processing power as such games ;p
I voted ‘No’. This is a reasonable suggestion but for me gameplay and content is everything
I’ve seen newer games with much impressive graphics yet lost interest to them very quickly. I actually like that SC team is working on matchmaker (it’s about time!) AND adds new content: new missions, new ships, new maps e.t.c - if I had to choose, that’s the direction I want.
Sounds like you’re suggesting to make Star Conflict 2 :013j:
We don’t have it in our schedule at the moment.
Indeed you can not just go ahead and refine the engine and poof, neat graphics.
Also this game has decent graphics still and is very well optimized, the fact that this game is playable with low spec computers makes it so interesting from some perspective.

No, I was asking a theoretical question, if it would be possible, would you do it? There are multiple ways. Editing existing content.
I am sure that you have knowledge about newest Unreal Engine, but this game is using some older, Hammer Engine or something.
It looks good, sure, but maybe you should consider to make at least whole texture overhaul in 2017 (ULTRA) settings. It would be a nice addition.
Some questions:
How long would it take to make a High Resolution DLC pack (texture overhaul).
What tools or programs are needed to edit current textures?
How much resources would that take?
Will you consider it?
I think the graphics are fine.
If you want ultra-idiotic-super-duper-mega-candy-eyecatcher then buy those ultra-high-mega-expensive-rip-off-your-money titles for 100$+.
Using a new engine solely for graphics would be a waste of resources.
What is the current engine and how you can use it? This is the biggest question.
The other what should be the benefit of a new engine?

Blocky shadows. I don’t think that they will ever get fixed with this engine. It’s an old issue.

k. Look strange. But such things take time and coding power. Don’t know about license cost or so for the engine itself.
I think there are way more important things to do as to fix shadows with no real gameplay impact.

This issue is over 1 year old. They should fix it anyway.
