I’m disappointed that the following made it into the patch, despite community feedback;

 

Squads

Maximum size reduced to 3 pilots

 

 

That said, one comment I would make: Let someone else write the developer blog / sneak preview of patches. There’s some content in this which you could have highlighted which would have created a vastly more positive initial reaction. For example, an improvement to the Match Making. That kind of thing interests people, not the elements they’ve never even asked for in the first place.

 

There are positive changes in most patches, you’re just doing a poor job at highlighting those to the community, and focusing too much on changes and additions which nobody is really all that interested in.

Srsly? You killed the game once and now you killed the game twice because of the squad changes? 

Okay, brace for impact…

  1. Weapon-changes look good. Needs to be tested. 

  2. About that new view… i cant say much. Needs to be tested. (is there a way to disable it, if we cant cope with it?)

  3. R10+R11 Ships lesser probability to meet R13+ Very good, but not sure if that will work since the queues are quite empty.

 

  1. Reduced Squadsize: BAD! No discussion. (Read comments on Dev Blog)

Is there any kind of “limiting-choices-Theme” going on here? The weapons, the modifiers, the missiles, the squads… whats next?

-Step in the right direction…What about R12 though? They still vastly out-implanted by T5…

 

Progress
Added a new medal:  Slayer of Immortals

To receive the medal you have to destroy a ship 3 ranks higher than yours

 

-This is not progression, at all. But more medals are fun I suppose.

Premium ships of ranks 1-3 are no longer available

Everyone in possession of these ships will get to keep them

Free synergy gained by premium ships is now increased to 20% of total earned synergy
Increased profitability of pirate ships

-3. step in the right direction, but still not even close

Gameplay
PvE

Pirate Base : modified weapons of the “Pirate Baron”

Now uses weapons on the basis of Singularity Generators

Colour: Red

Reduced projectile speed

Increased damage

Changed the characteristics of bots in T1 missions

Changed bonuses

 

-Baron change: Fine, will have to see how hard it will be though

-T1 change: hard to know what you changed…

-bonus change: extra info needed, what and where did you change?

 

Synergy

Now, upon achieving maximum synergy, ships earn double the amount of synergy.

 

-This was totally unneccesary and just proves you are just grabbing more and more money! Increasing synergy so we have to pay even more GS to transfer them away? Nice money grab!

 

Hangar
Hangar camera: increased maximum zoom
Changed the progress bar
Shop: selling an item installed on a ship no longer gives a warning

-2. some more info would be good…

-3 this is a terrible change, and should be reverted. This only creates the possiblity of selling experimentals installed on ships by a simple misclick

Hey devs, you forget the Coil Mortar !

 

Still nothing about the Anaconda M / Crusader Type S passivs bonus. (And no hidden bonus).

 

More UP for Railgun please (Yeah sure, forget the only Kinetic weapon for frigates).

 

The heavy blaster is still useless. Slow barrel + Laser + Optimal range M’kay…

 

Elliptic detection … You mean something like that ?

Once again, for now, you can use ‘Custom battle’ in order to get into the fight with your friends. You will still have all the rewards.

Now the detection field is an ellipsis

Ellipsis size is scaled depending on the aspect ratio of the screen

I have no idea what this means… we need to see it in action to make head nor tail of it.

 

 

Training

Now the first battle is against a team of AI ships

Not a bad idea. I’m too far gone to say for sure if it’s what is needed, but it’s a good idea.

 

Fixing tiers and/or matchmaking. would have been better though. New recruits do not need / want to be flying against Rank 4s.

 

 

Squads

Bad idea for reasons given elsewhere. This wasn’t the problem.

“reduced” probability? I’m sorry, what you meant to say was “ships of 10-11 ranks now have no chance whatsoever of getting into battle with ships of ranks 13-15.”

 

This change still doesn’t make me want to fly T4, because I guarantee there will still be 3 Rank 15 pure blue on the opposing side… all flying under ESB’s flag.

 

 

Camer

This took far too long to happen. We should have had this months ago.

This I kind of agree with… I was never really clear as to the point of those ships. Glad people who have them aren’t losing out.

And again, this is not enough. Premium ships still have not had their value restored; they are still not a valid alternative to the main tree ships, because they don’t let us advance the way main tree ships do.

And yet they are still not worth flying… no Premium is.

New bonus: cooling rate increased by 50%

Can’t comment on this as I didn’t really know the ship very well.

 

 

Raptor Mk II:

A new bonus: weapon heating reduced by 23%

Armament

T1: range is 90%

T2: range is 100% (basic range)

T3: range is 115%

T4 range is 125%

T5 range is 135%

Interesting idea… though it just makes me want to play Tier 4 even less. “Oh, look, now ESB’s Rank 15 squadron get a range boost over me! xxxx this, I’m going back to T3.”

 

I’m kind of pressed for time, so I’m just going to skip to the last one I want to bring to attention:

What is the point of this? Elite Synergy is worthless. It might boost the Free Synergy rate, but it’s still far too slow.

@Rakza: Actually “elliptic” seems to be the wrong word since its 3D, “Elliptic Paraboloid” seems more fitting.

needs smaller projectile size. hitbox volume equal to sphere volume, not dimensions.

 

Shrapnel Cannon:

Damage increased by 5%

Range increased by 18%

 

ok great cuz it was kinda semi-useless. but useful sometimes if you know what i mean.

 

Disintegrator:

Damage increased by 10%

 

this will break lower tiers even more. hope you plan on doing something about that.

 

Guided Torpedo:

Now has immunity to the anti-missile modules on Guard ships

 

wait, so this is the fix? to provide another immunity?

 

quite frankly, this unit cannot be fixed. not with faster missile projectile speed, or with higher damage.

 

actually… i correct myself… this unit CAN be fixed… my making guided torps do more damage to frigates and less to fighters/inties. that will turn it into a real anti-frigate weapon.

but not free synergy? wait, does this apply to premium ships? and if they earn double synergy, does that mean 20% free synergy on prems is actually 40% free synergy because of the doubling effect?

I’m slightly concerned to see no mention of the mouse jerky fix in there. Hope it was merely lost in translation.

Does that imply doubled free synergy, too? 

Correction: Both Free synergy and ship synergy gain increases.

Fair enough. The old plasma bonuses were obsolete.
