Star Conflict OBT v.0.9.9 update1 discussion

How about we make a compromise right now with the current system?

ELIMINATE THE SQUAD MM ISSUES RIGHT NOW.

Squads going into MM should take into consideration the person with the highest stats and put into the Queue accordingly.

If the entire squad is geared up for T3, they go into a T3/4 according to the person with the highest stats as if his squad mates were tagging along with his normal queue.

That should make me, and everyone else happy. And it will be fair because then it cannot be abused cause, if you have good stats, then you will be going up, if not, down.

I fully agree to this =) but I don’t think dev already made their choice about this. maybe in next patch next week ?

I say, everyone just upvote the crud of it now, and make sure they at least see it or acknowledge that the squads are the most important part of the game.

ANTIBUS , CAN YOU HEAR ME!? *hits microphone* CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!? I LOVE YOU MAN!

Is it a reason to generalize ? And say everyone don’t care ?

Are you-… WHAT! They DON’T care. They don’t give a xxxx about the rest of the team. All they care about is getting THEIR SINGLE SHIP to R15 so they can unlock that implant. That is IT. Other than that objective, they don’t care if they earn 5k or 5 Synergy, as long as there’s progression, they won’t give a toss about anything else!

the chances for this to happen are slim at best. we all wanted unmixed tiers, old camera and most of us also prefered the old hud. the devs rather tweak an inheretly flawed system instead of making a rollback.

I still don’t like the term “skill rating”. Even power level would be better.

I still don’t like paying for module upgrades to be retrieved, i rather pay for artifacts to be removed, so selling an upgrade for credits becomes senseful.

I still would love to have module type upgrades for the sections the store has for items, instead of specific items. First, since the icon-types for that are already basicly there, second, because it would save people storage space, third because people would learn the types of modules in the process, and fourth, because this way, actually item drops were simpler to understand.

For example, CovOps should not have white noise jammer. That should be ECM. Just adding that from T3 onwards adds a whole set of new options - do I want to shut my target down completely for 2 seconds, disable his weapons and modules for 4, or disable his lock for 8?

I disagree about this point. CO has a perfect role as a ceptor counter, if it gives up it’s special role to deploy nukes (where u usually do not need more than one CO specialized in). This way, the CO is a good counter against ECMs, by denying their insta-cast spells for a short window of time, where they can play their superior firepower and speed.

This way, the CO also becomes a good addition to an ECM defensively, and to arrive shortly after recons offensively.

I agree, that ECM is a broken ship, I actually hate to fly it. It is however great for someone who has less reflexes to fly ceptors, and play support in a team. Otherwise it’s usually only a ship, which destroys beautiful dogfights.

In the Ceptor class, the CO is it’s counter role, so you can see the white noise jammer as part of a covert-ops tactic to make some ECCM.

I think most people will support this idea. It mixes the current MM which is working as intended, but also promotes squad playing. Since the MM tries to match people for skill, the squad will have in front other squad (hopefully) or just pilots of the same skill.

I am aware, and I think many people are also, that the MM needs a nice playerbase to work in a balanced manner, but adding the said feature will be a BIG step in the right direction.

ELIMINATE THE SQUAD MM ISSUES RIGHT NOW.

Think about it.

They made a poll ingame regarding the matchmaking, basically there was 1 option saying: Dont change anything, it’s all good. And ~40% of the voters voted that it was all good.

The way they will analize is this: Oh, our MM system is perfect then, the guys on the forums are wrong, we can now ignore them and proceed on making the game worse.

WHILE IN FACT they should be reading this way:

Oh GOSH, ~60% OF THE PLAYERS THINK THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE MM, lets change it so we make those 60% happier cause thats the majority.

But the poll itself is inaccurate since a portion of that 40% just voted in order to get GS and didn’t even read the poll.

I read the polls differently: most players seem to vote against squads vs squads only solutions (70%) and want squads being mixed in.

50% want tier locks, 50% don’t (or don’t mind)

nothing was said about squad MM there.

FUN FACTOR NEEDS TO BE BACK

I dont want to feel that I need to work, like in a job, I want to play a game to forget about work!

the only thing i will see that could fix this is a reversion of the module upgrade system. but with experimentals you can actually buy.

this system just takes too much work to keep track of which upgrades you have/need, and their Marks… ridiculous… already have to spend enough time in UI deciding on builds and reading descriptions to have to deal with keeping track of a virtual spreadsheet of upgrades in my head…

the only other thing i see is more game modes (which they said they’re working on).

plus, you know… the usual tweaks… fixes to the MM, balance (less rock-paper scissors easy buttons), less missile spam, etc…

i’m probably forgetting the most important things, but that’s what happens when you lose interest for 3 months :\

plus, do you know how hard it would be to calculate probability statistics for this new upgrade loot drop system? i don’t even want to fathom it… they just added like 3 layers of complexity, since you need all previous upgrades to get to Mk4. ;o

not to mention removing any strategic choices that need to be made when levelling faction rank… you no longer need to plan out your levelling… you simply level the faction for the single item you need (Mk2/3 upgrades, forget which one requires faction). less strategic, but more time-consuming… since you need to keep track of each individual item you want to upgrade…

i believe i originally said that squads with a high rating should be pushed up a tier. i don’t recall saying 2 tiers tho ;p if you’re mixing tiers in your squad though, then you have other issues i cannot solve ;o

problem is, i don’t think the current MM system has a method to push you up a single tier, it will push you up into the next queue, which technically means 2 tier possibilities. or maybe it does… by adjusting the rating, but i think they went off the deep end on that one, and it’s too harsh.

although, you may want to consider changing it for tier 1. and possibly tier 2 (altho prob not necessary). skill at a low level cannot overcome some of the equipment differences later on.

there’s also the question of it matching high skilled players from a lower tier, into a higher tier, but not taking into account the skill of the higher tier, which might also be high, hence basically a 1-tier disadvantage for nothing, prob especially evident in t4 vs t5.
