Star Conflict OBT v.0.9.8 update1 Discussion

I believe the MM has to be fixed but i like the concept of mixed tiers to be honest. This gives much more balanced matches.

I mean definetely 2 tiers difference is too much, no doubt, but from what i’m seeing matches with one tiers difference are great. And for sure i’m absolutely against same tiers matches in MM…

So i’d say matching t1-t2, t2-t3, t3-t4 etc is ok but system must works well.

Anyway still waitin for an answer to this lol:

Excuse antibus

I’m lvl 14 on fed and 6 in empire and jericho…I’ve always bought only fed ships and i haven’t got a single ships from empire or jericho…

so how can i unlock contracts above 6th lvl with jericho and empire? Am i supposed to buy all the ships form the very first one and synergize them all to unlock other contacts with empire and jericho…? Coz if so this is going to be a big problem to me… :frowning:

Mixing tiers due to the +/-1 or 2 in the ranks it’s fine, the problem comes when it isn’t about the RANK but the TIER. Ain’t fun nor fair to fight T3 while flying a T1, T4 while in a T2 and T5 when you use T3.

Yeah, I can see how the Devs work…

“How many accounts are there now?”

“About 3k or so.”

“And how many posted on the forums they didn’t like the matchmaking?”

“About… 300, plus another 200 in-game on chat.”

“So that means the rest MUST like it!”

“Over half of those are inactive and haven’t logged in for a month or more…”

“xxxx YOU THEY LIKE IT”!

The settings are like this due to amount of pilots in que. As soon as there are more this situation will improve.

Then the MM will never change because, let’s be honest, no one wants to play with the MM the way it is now… In fact, you’re only losing pilots with each passing day ever since 0.9.0 came out. And if the trend continues, the game won’t reach live at all. Just as I predicted it.

Exactly… Its a vicious circle in its current state, you matchmake 3 tiers together (t1-3, t2-4, t3-5) to avoid long queues, but the matchmaker is alienating so many players that the playerbase has already taken a large hit in just a week. Are the devs looking at the numbers in playerbase? If they are, are they just looking at amount of log-ins in a day? Cause people logging in for the daily pve cannot actually be considered as playing. Are they just looking at time spent in game? Cause a lot of people are probably just sitting in the hangar speaking with friends and raging about the match making. Or perhaps just looking at time in battle, without differentiating between pve and pvp?

Most of the population from what i could see, are either just logging in for the daily pve, or farming their credits in pve while hoping the issues will get resolved, i’m sure most of the players doing pvp were not in squads, and if they were, 2 man squads at best.

You don’t. Still we are getting positive feedback too.

Important part is that all feedback is valuable. We continue monitoring the situation.

Please show me positive feedback about the matchmaker, apart from the typical exception to the rule that think playing against ships 2 tiers higher than them is a fun challenge. From my perspective that isn’t actually positive feedback, its just a player refusing to see the issue or a player that doesn’t use squads.

The changes to loyalty are a step in the right direction, removing the cost of switching faction contracts is also in a right direction, however where are the changes to credit gain? No credits from contracts, no change to the credits gained from loot. Credit gain is still much lower than it was before 0.98, you could easily get 40-50k from looting, now you are lucky if you get over 10k. Failed green extractions gave 15k+ the upgrade kits are now worth 5-8k, the failed experimentals gave even more, and there was gray loot that gave 25k too.

The removal of the faction switch cost is good, but i for example didn’t switch once this week (because of the high cost) and still had a hard time saving credits. I’d rather see the switch cost back and the credit gain reverted to what it was before…

The propulsion inhib range reduction was a good change. Overall changes in the right direction, however credit gain wasn’t adressed and the matchmaker is still warped.

While I do agree that the current system have a too big difference (T1 fighting T3) but if there was a difference max of (let’s say) 3-4 ranks (or 1 tier only). This system would be almost perfect.

I’m strongly against full random team as this system made me leave the battlefield serie (it’s the most annoying thing to play against an organized team when you play alone).

Today’s patch is good but as said above => credit problem not yet adressed, maybe next time ? (I keep my hopes up)

See you suckers next week.

I have other games to play and master. Though I will be on from time to time. But I will only squad with another person and thats it. Apparently, having 3 people makes you OP and 4 people makes you super saiyan 9.

The balance changes are good, nobody is complaining on that, but it still needs tweaks. Credits are still hard to come by.

Anything new in this patch about the credits earned in PVP battles?

Since last update, we almost gain no credits in PVP (at least in T3).

I now have about 5-6 ships to buy and need ~15M for that and to progress in the game (and I’m not wasting a lot of money in weapons or modules).

Now, I’m only playing PVE in order to earn some credits, but I’m getting fed up doing same things again and again… And I know that I’m not alone in this case, I’m almost surprised that nobody reported this…

And to give my opinion about the matchmaking… You can remove corporations from the game, they are totally pointless, better to go as four squad of one, than one squad of 4.

I don’t know why you are doing so many calculation, while taking a random set of ships of the same tier seem to be a lot more effective solution.

ABANDON SHIP!!!

Thats my reaction to this stupid game (it was kinda good one month ago) since it gone downhill. I have 22 days of license which is LOST due to the BAD course this game is moving towards.

I for one will not put a single penny anymore on this game, and will only enter to do the daily PVE nothing else.

I stopped playing wow because it was becoming too grindy, and this game has become pornographically more grindy than anything ive ever played.

And also, completery xxxx Matchmaking makes the game a burden rather than fun. I ask again, WHERE IN THE WORLD IT IS FAIR TO PUT T1’s AGAINST T3’s and HIGH END T2’s?!?!?!?!?!?!

Lol, I have 91 days of license, sucks to be me xD

luckly i don’t because the past has shown me that the devs screw over paying customers with random loot and low synergy (20% comon!) gold ships, overpriced paintings and of the charts prices for premium mods.

Actually, I dont get the punish-good-players-theme.

Really, is it just me, or do I feel betrayed that if I play good I will be punished, while if I play bad/mediocre I will not get penalized… sounds wrong to me and is absolutely contrary to the “real life/world”. And its not only that: Nerfing survival Modules is also offending good players more than bad ones, since bad ones have in general not a clue how to fit their ships.

Sure, there are a lot of bad or mediocre players in the high tiers (in most cases “tier-rushers”) . but this again is your game design fault:: pre 9.0. we had the reputation system, which prevented players to advance too fast in the higher tiers. Now they have an incentive, since contracts are bound on the highest rank of your ship and you have this unholy R15 implant.

It feels like you really have no plan what to do with the game. Or is it like I said before the greed, to force PPL to advance ASAP since they shall feel underpowered until they reach R15…

“Wait time” is a invalid answer. Pre 9.0. we had a forced match if we waited 5 mins (given the case that someone else is in queue), right now Im waiting up to 15 mins before I get matched.

Mixing tiers should be way more limited: Put the beginner-ships in the next lower queue is acceptable (unless its a squad).

And still, anything better in terms of squadding up? If I squad up with a friend, can I stay in my Tier now?

Another thing: Do I smell yet again another inty-nerf? Reducing DMG from the slow fireing plasma gun and giving it as “alibi-buff” reduced spread, while its mechanic ALREADY reduces it by firing?

And the Coil-Mortar… is it now even more deadly vs ints? Prop. Inhibitor reduction is still to less. make it 50%.

small amount of hope restored.

until i went for 7-11 battle and got 3v3 with 1 bot and enemy got two t4 ships and my team none

I don’t either. If I lose, I prefer to lose because the other team played better. Common excuse in any PvP is “the MM is unbalanced,” and unfortunately the current situation is only supporting this claim. Where’s the draw in getting better if I can’t tell how honest my losses are, how much was my lack of skill and how much was the system?

just got lagged to death, 5000+ ping + packet loss on RU servers

The way I see it, you guys need to attract more players to increase playerbase before messing too much with MM. This is a fact. As things are now ACTIVE playerbase is dropping dramatically and with so few good things to offer no newcomers will stay! THINK ABOUT THIS!

If I was a new player, as the game is now MM mixing, modules pricing, very very poor loot earning, etc. I will quit before reaching T2. As an average player who logs in several hours every day, I feel punished by MM and stuck on the now heavy grinding machine as I cannot advance to my next ship! so I’m frustrated and so are other players who actually care a lot and are hardcore players and supporters of this game! You will lose those players too guys! Please wake up before is too late!

WM.

Perhaps Antibus your English is wrong? Just checking to make sure.

Good = хорошо

Bad = плохой

Perhaps this will clear things up.

Yup. New players are screwed. Older more experienced players are screwed. Everyone is in a lose lose situation.

[…]

Often times matchmaking that takes pilot skill into effect results is player frustration since the auto-balancing will pound good players until they start losing regularly and quit for the day.

[…]

The reason your player base is upset by these changes are because you’re taking your most dedicated players (those who play enough to get purple and good ship ratings and victory percentages) and making the game harder for them to play and enjoy.

[…]

Ding-Ding-Ding! DoctorJ nailed it. Now that I’ve finally outfitted a number of my ships with Mk. 4 weapons, I feel penalized for my achievements. The increase in damage going from a mk.3 to a mk.4 is 50% of the bonus received from mk.2 and mk.3 upgrades. It doesn’t seem fair to penalize someone for grinding it out to achieve maximum damage dealing capability. That’s the only gripe I have with the new patch

To be honest, I understand the changes to matchmaking. I remember what it was like to be an up-and-comer in Tier3. I lost and I lost, over and over until I ragequit from frustration. True, my tactics were not up to snuff, but I got into an excellent corporation and they trained me well. Now if I drop down into tier 1 or 2 for a few solo games, I usually double or triple the score of the next highest player.

I like the idea of increasing a player’s MM value based on recent wins and their value decreasing with recent losses. I’m not sure how I feel about DSR (called skill rating in the blog) affecting MM values. Some players leech kills and microwarp to beacons just for the points, they don’t really care if they win, only if their personal average score goes up. As such, I do not think the “skill rating” is an accurate measure of skill.

I don’t really understand the “brief rating” vs “full rating” mechanic. No worries, though. I’ll just ask ZIEK to explain that the next time our paths cross. ZIEK is awesome at explaining those sorts of things to us knuckle-draggers.

My corporation is what keeps me tied to this game now. Struggling, strategizing, adapting and overcoming odds all sound great on paper but actually doing those things every day is what keeps me coming back. I like the game for what it is; a 3D space action/shooter. I’ve only spent $20 on the game and I’ve logged 564 hours in game so far. I’d say I’ve gotten my money’s worth. All I want from the game now is a larger player base.

If the developers have to step on a few toes in order to ensure that their creation does not whither and die like so many other games ::cough Super MNC cough:: then I’m fine with dealing with a bit of inconvenience. At least they are consistently adding content and working on balance. That’s how you know it really is in Beta. If it were a “beta game which actually means released but we’re going to say it’s in beta b/c we know it’s not functional” then the developers would be releasing new cosmetic options and more stuff to buy with real money.

That’s my two cents.

TL;DR; I don’t agree with all the MM changes, but if they help the player base grow, then I’m down. The size of the player base is the largest concern with the game IMO.

Time to dump my mk4 and sink my dsr I guess or maybe I should walk away and find a mmo that doesn’t kick me in the balls when I try to play with friends.

Also lol at the sooo half hearted nerf of the mass inhibitor.

I don’t believe for a moment they will help the player base grow. Just look at some of the posts above - tales about of people trying to make T1 squads with new players, and those players getting dragged into T2 / T3 matches, getting owned and quitting.

T1 and T2 are fine for players to do what they want, but we need to go back to the days where flying T3 required some degree of skill. We have too many idiots now; too many stupid people with no clue how to load out a ship, how to fly or how to work as a team. The poison is ruining the tier, and T4 / T5 is far from immune either.

Wanting endgame content is all well and good, but if you can’t be bothered to learn to play the game you should be denied it with extreme prejudice. Allowing tier-rushing is ruining the experience for everyone else.
