In a lab-environment that all sounds nice and fancy. But reality is, that you have to care about other bots/players, too. 

Also, as Ory said, its just a sick and broken mechanic that you need 2 ships just to counter one… and even then its not sure if you´ll be successful. 

If I cant kill it 1v1 and it was not my lack of skill, I call the mechanic broken. 

 

 

Perhaps we should test this theory with some very experienced players in the top-100.

We can simulate it, too. If non of us has that guard:

Just pick a TOR S vs. some T2 gunships. 

DMG/HP-scaling should be about right.  

I was messing mate, I’ve flown with you (and Kipps) often enough to know that your statement will hold enough validity to be taken serious.

 

If you guys couldn’t kill it, neither can 99.8% of the rest of the community. Period.

I am not certainly against some encounters where some ships can not kill another in 1v1, but i am absolutely against situation where there are no ships that can kill it 1v1 except for the same ship.

Btw that invincible guard problem in t5s is it local to Jericho only? Are federation guards considered in a right place?

Yes it does.

This exactly. If X cant kill Y 1v1 but Z can kill Y in 1v1 than its not broken, its a rock-paper-scissors mechanic. Provided that X are good against SOME stuff and someone can kill Z.

In the past few days I met on a regular basis a fully synergized Inquisitor S with premium modules + weapons (dont know about the ship-mods, but theyre most likely not MKI) 

That thing is not killable:

Tried it with Lightbringer + Bubbleguns, didnt work.

Tried it with Aura + Lazors and/or bubbleguns + Range: didnt work. 

Tried it with King Castor + Assault Rails pure crit. build: didnt work. 

Tried it with Kipps (we both in R12 CovOps all blue/purple): didnt work.

Tried it with Arp and me in a LRF: did work, but Arp lost 3 ships in the process. 

 

Conclusion: That thing is not killable 1v1 except you have an even better Guard (I dont have one).

I can outplay it, depending on map and gamemode, but in combat recon youre just boned (you can hope to farm more bots than he, but thats not really an option due to the bots “chaaaarge-behavior”). 

 

On the other hand, im not a bad player and if that guy goes for any other ship in his setup he will die to me, every time.  

So, that thing is just broken OP and requires no skill what so ever to play.

Needs to be fixed.

Well those monsters are simply unkillable. Guards in t4-t5 are not OP but just those jerry ones are broken… Atm i got a t5 fed guard with 7 level sinergy and it’s nothin more than the t4 guard…To be honest the t4 guard thanks much better than the t5 lol…That’s just the module slots configuration…So i suppose that on those jerry frigs, slots need to be reworked at least.

 

Anyway i tried to face one of them woth my guard and even torps where useless with 2 of them i was able just to take down 1/3 of his shield…

Whilst I don’t advocate anything based on 1v1 encounters, currently some of the other ships that countered this have been made too weak. Recon and ECM for example, have been nerfed to the point of not being able to provide adequate support to smaller teams to take down a well-fitted guard.

 

Right now, the most powerful set-up, unfortunately, is once again the frigball. If deployed in an effective manner with the right support, it is nigh unstoppable. Unfortunately, when things were more balanced, people didn’t like that they could die against a group of other people who played in an effective pack/team - so ships which assisted in this in the most noticable manner were nerfed where it wasn’t really needed. Short sighted at best.

 

ECM still worth and a lot…They are fighters killers…

Fed Guard is, like in T4 another type of beast. It reaches an hilarious speed and with it, it becomes the ultimate bane to all Inties. Besides that, its quite killable with Fighters, so I would consider it as a good but not OP ship.

Its not the weapon, the R13 Empire implant gives you 20% reduction of Mod CD for every kill or killassist.

Tbh. IMHO you should be able to kill every ship with every ship (Tier dependent ofc.). 

Its completely OK if some ships are harder to kill some as others (there is RPS Mechanic) but unkillable? NO, that should not happen.

One Plasma/Speed for the shield, one empire/shotgun to stay there and do the hull?

 

Or are Recons that bad in that tier?

In 1v1… no, I dont think it might work. 2 might be possible to do the trick. Still, Recon is the best way to outcap. But Killing… I dont think so. I bet he can ate a full set of mines and will be still alive.
