Covert Ops are NOT meant to take down a guard. They can apply quick DPS for sure, but they don’t got the tank for it. Guards are supposed to protect, which is what they are very effective at especially against CO.

Come on, Funky. You can do better than this. 

You cant kill him. That thing is very effective vs EVERYTHING which is not a Guard. 

Also dont think that Kipps and I dont know how to fly or how to possibly counter ships. 

Ion diffuser works for about 4 secs now. He doesnt even feel the need to use AMS. Because he knows that even EM torps cant really hurt him. 

And you NEVER will get him down QUICKLY. In T5 you can consider the bubblegun as the strongest weapon. Still, it completely fails vs Guards.  

In a small scale match like this, the effects of such a ship are quite profound.

 

I’m not an advocate of 2v2 matches, the balance is completely off and heavily in favor of Guards.

Even if ion diffuser only works for 4 secs, it still disables his rep ability for 60 seconds(Reload time on his booster)

I will admit that some things are insane(Like his EHP…) but I don’t think he is impossible to kill. I have killed 92k guards without a problem(But that might have been the pilots epic failing with their phase shields) with a very similar fitting.

Aye, I think the amount of players is half the problem there…In a 12 v 12 his fit would be far less capable. 

But if 6 of them were on the enemy team…I don’t think it would become any better.(Although…6 singularity gunships would kill them very quickly then)

I can sense Funky’s nervousness about a Guard nerf all the way in England.

He doesnt really need his rep-ability! 

ECM cant gnaw throu that shields anyway. gunship will die in that fire because he uses coils+ horizon. 

And since he uses R13 Empire implant CD on his rep-ability will be reduced once more. Even if he just assists in a kill.

You fool yourself if you think that ECM has a place there.

Actually the first ship that Arp used was ECM, while I was sitting in LRF. He died. oh wonder. And we werent getting him down faster due to this.

In T5 the projectile speeds are increased so that might be working against you(I’ll admit I haven’t done T5 PVP in a week or so) but surely you should be able to avoid most of his projectiles?

I am not saying you are bad pilots, I know you aren’t, but I find it weird I never find undefeatable guards while you guys do :S

Play a bit more T5. You might stumble across him. If you do, dont take guard and try to kill him. 

Then we talk again. Belive me, its an insanely OP build and it is fking OP.

Sure, I also met another guy in an Inquisitor S that just died to me singlehandedly. But to be honest, he wasnt really a display of the OPness that ship is capable of i.e. he just refused to change his Phase Shield to plasma.   

He now has over 100k EHP btw

Looks like he went for pure buffer. The idiot. Use 2 Singularity Gunships, it’ll work and he won’t pop his head out of the water so soon. It’s a shame more than one ship has to be used to kill a single target, though, but this IS a team game.

inquisitor lacks a 2nd hull mod so its EHP is quite a bit lower with the same fitting. But possibly effective as well.

I make about 1800 dmg on it with singularity. Do the math. 

 

In a way it might be even a bit better, since the range of Guard Mods is increased, IIRC.

Wait, no. Yes. Preferably Ion Emitter.

In a lab-environment that all sounds nice and fancy. But reality is, that you have to care about other bots/players, too. 

Also, as Ory said, its just a sick and broken mechanic that you need 2 ships just to counter one… and even then its not sure if you´ll be successful. 

If I cant kill it 1v1 and it was not my lack of skill, I call the mechanic broken.
