As we have mentioned before, we have conducted an additional research on the situation with auto-aiming and your feedback on the topic. After that we have added some important changes to the logic of fire, so that it could be more precise in various cases.
We have also noticed that some of our players did not feel comfortable with the new aim settings so in the upcoming update we are going to introduce a choice in options - fly with auto-aim as it was before or with current type of auto-aim (as there were also players who liked the new setting).

This is great news. So if I understand in the next update we get:

Will you also make the reticle white again instead of red? There were complaints it was not visible enough, and now you made it even less visible.
Worst decision ever… actually after i see how good the game could be … i’m not completly sure i can tollerate the nab vertion of it anymore… will see.

This is the part that worries me the most. Especially the word “tweaked”. We’ve seen how the devs handle these “tweaks” and they do not know the meaning of the word “testing”. I shudder to think where this mentality will get them when the game goes live. And that’s IF the game manages to crawl its way there.
All I ask for a calculated hit point is to show me the good point to hit my target, not the way at time (always behind or… not very sure where I am shooting), and I can use only weapons like lasers or close singu

Doesn’t matter how skilled your are at piloting, if a random dude who installed yesterday can kinda sorta point in your direction and press right mouse button followed by left mouse button, and because he chose the right class and right weapon, he automatically won the game, interest in a game of anyone who knows how to actually fly will collapse. It’s like giving a man in the desert a bottle of water, and then take it back after he took one sip.
“Aimbot optional” is the worst solution ever. Imagine a counter strike server that says “you can use this aimbot software here, we don’t ban you for using it because it’s optional and you can switch it off!”
Yeah, that will do well. Kinda obvious that anyone who wants to be competitive will switch it on, not because they want to but because they have to to be able to compete with other aimbotters.

No, no and no. This is not as an aimbot in counterstrike. Bullets there are instant hit. Here they are not. You cannot dodge bullets in CS. Here you can (even lasers). You cannot compare it. It rendered weapons like positron and rails completely non-working. This is not balance. This is not giving Aces the weapons. Who cares about the Aces? They already have their torpedo Ace-tube.
I do not have trouble Aces killing me with gauss and positron, because they just can’t. Regardless of what kind of assists you give them. I don’t see your point of complain. This is not a Ace aim assist. That is why gauss doesn’t have insane dps, it’s a tactical ranged weapon.
The aim assist was the only way that even Disintegrator was viable, whose shots you could dodge with really basic maneuvers before, now you can miss even ships flying in a straight line. It was a great, rewarding class to play, now more than half shots are misses what was a certain hit before.
And also, what Kipps said, I can’t hit anything with my gauss, so I am 0 skilled?

After playing a fair bit this weekend, I like the new system if playing on a european server - If playing on any other server it just doesn’t work. I have had to remove Guass cannons from any ship I had them equipped on, as just cannot hit anything regardless of server (Yes I must be zero skilled !)
If given the option to use auot aim or not, I would have to enable it, just to stay on a semi equal level with all the other players

U can dodge butllets in Quake, Unreal Tournament, Painkiller and in any fps arena game. Lot of weapons have travel time for bullets… still ppl play those game withouth any aimbot and actually better players in the world play those kind of game…

Just fix the reticle if you want a less hardcore game (or remove it if u want a totally hardocore one… i’m good with both) … but any kind of “autoaim” has to be banish. This is not a consolle game… a thing like that is the most nab thing u can immagine.

2/4 ships I currently use run rails. Other two run plasma. Ask St1r and Alek how well they work in my hands against some of the best players in the game that we met yesterday in T4.
If you cannot hit well enough with them right now, don’t blame the weapons. Blame the old aimbot that killed your aiming skills and practice to get them back.

No one expects spanish inquisition, nor does anyone expect a covert ops to materialize behind you, pop orion and fill your engine ports with shrapnel. Works both ways :bomber:
I’m putting my Eagle-M back into action at least until the patch. Time to see if my favorite ship type is flyable again in the world of guard frigs. It worked well 1v3 ESB squad a couple of days ago, but even full unload on guard frig, I’d still die to just the pulsar damage without getting more then halfway into its hull.
And while I don’t know about gauss, I have little problems connecting positron which functions in a similar way. Except in close range combat of course.
Yeh Ive had no problems with the positron either - Just the guass is pretty unuseable for me now

Making it an option would not make it an option. It would just make a useless option that no one would ever use.
They might just as well make an option of “your weapons do much less damage” “you are slower” and “you have less health”. It would make a nice addition to “I missed, but game will make me hit regardless”.

At least for ‘tactical long range weapons’ it is needed. Also removed all Gauss ships from my active list before getting the break.
I dare all of you ‘skill-wise’ players to go full Gauss setup and get Fear Me + 10 kills + (absolutely a must) get objectives on random servers and record it (in front of same level players as you claim to be). The current system works for any close range weapon at a certain degree, i tested it, nothing against it there. But some of the weapons are simply like inexistent and can be ignored on the field completely. If you couldn’t dodge a Gauss before the nerf at a certain degree, you were doing it wrong.
You want skill? Go fly fighters in PS2 or play Freespace 2, they also have bullet speed mechanics. Having a game where the aiming reticle is not fixed on the center is in no way ‘the classic FPS’, especially with bullet speeds, so stop comparing. SCon definitely isn’t.

You are asking people to show that weapon is broken OP? It’s not.
Getting a Fear me and 10 kills means that either you’re playing against complete xxxx, or you’re kill stealing. Or playing in lower tiers and farming newbies.
The system works just fine for sniper weapons. Positron in T3 is still a high kill count weapon if you focus on kill stealing, just like it was before. The issue is that you’re used to auto aim trolling interceptors that you never could have been able to hit without aimbot. Effectively you were griefing them, as they were in fact dodging your fire, as they do now. It’s just that before that, game told these people “your skill doesn’t matter, I’ll just correct that guy’s aim who can’t actually hit anything so he will keep three shotting you. Because he’s took sniper weapon, therefore he’s more important then you. Also, xxxx you!”
