haha. nasa+wpk. nice… it was a frigball tho with command and lrf support, with commander ecm… and our entire team was inties i thnk? anyways, the game i played after that our team kept feeding the enemy too… like rushing in 1 by 1 to attempt solo beacon caps :\ at T3 you’d think this sort of stuff doesn’t occur with any frequency… unfortunately…

 

but yea, goes to highlight why squads weren’t broken… it’s mm that is broken, and the difference in gear/unit potential across tiers and within tiers even. and some abusable mechanics like ecm, which are like an easy button in organized squads.

 

re ecms: i mean in that other game, i had to use nanocomposite on my assault a few times, even tho i was full shields… basically wasting it just to get the r8 implant counter to engine/thruster debuffs for 10 secs… ridiculous… i can see that being a counter to tacklers… but this isnt a counter to ecms… it’s garbage.

Not to derail this topic too badly, but the hard counter to ECM has been suggested before: CovOps. Or another ECM.

don’t be mad. it’s only kipps… he flies ecm, then squad focuses target. easy kills. lamest tactic ever used on corp squads in a video game.

 

plus i owned that dude on a recon without even using mines, just military shrapnel and a complete mk1 fit.

 

but i agree on efficiency: it is broken… it awards stupid things like surviving with 15% hull and microwarping… keep doing it and you can efficiency farm basically. so many medals are farmable. the system, from a design perspective is majorly flawed.

No, the major flaw in this game, that I consider truly the worst of the worst is the game rewarding you for using the self-destruct module, killing yourself while taking out 0-2 enemies in the process. The same goes for the Jericho Torpedo used as a suicide module. This is what irks me the most about this game. Surviving with 15% hull and MWD’ing away is EXACTLY what “survival” means. Yesterday, I faced this guy on a Recon (can’t remember your name, sorry, chap) on a Magnetar (in a T3 match where half the enemy team had full T4 rosters) and the sod kept MWD’ing away when he was low on hp. I raged at that, hard. Evil & Error can testify for it, but that’s what it takes to be a good killer in this game. Kill and not be killed. THAT deserves rewarding.

not really. a ecm can disable a covert as well. all he needs to do is sit back. anyways, you have to white noise him before he disables your engies/commands… its not really a counter…

how is stating a fact whining?

 

you do realize that you’re stating a quite clear bias on your part to maintain things the way they are. the broken mm, which doesn’t take region, ping, squads and other factors into account, like ship slots etc…

 

you also have an interest in keeping ecm broken, because it favors lame focus fire tactics.

you know this is farmable right, just warp, come back, get hit a few times, warp again… people will sit out of battle not doing anything just for survival medals… sure, surviving is good. but meh…

 

anyways, the efficiency problem is due to beacon caps. they award too much eff, i think 400 for a cap?

 

whereas its 100 for a kill, 60 for an assist or something?.. uber lame…

In the face if imminent death, it’s better to take someone down along with you.

 

That said, I believe we all do try to avoid imminent death as far as possible. It’s just that some of us are not that successful.

Meh, never thought i’d ever see this: scared. frig. balls. 3 matches in a row, T3.

One ‘capture the beacons’, both teams were half or more composed of f.balls, none moved an inch from their protective walls just in front of the spawn. Even went to distract the entire enemy team at the back beacon (and it worked, the entire turtle chased me and even killed one of them, stood alive and tried to keep their interest in shooting me) and they (my team) just stood there scared grinding their fingernails with B fully open and close to them, no more than 5-6km while the enemy turtle was now 9-11km away from it, not even paying attention…

One was deto, which included a FULL T4 ESB frig ball on our side (+ at least 3 others) cowering behind an asteroid to preserve DSR. Didn’t even try to stress myself after the first 3-4 minutes - decided to play ‘bump the Soyuz satellite model’ instead.

Forgot the first one.

 

Like, really? The more of this stuff i see the more content i am with the new synergy system…
