Star Conflict OBT v.0.9.2 Discussion

I did make a prediction about the come back of the ball somewhere, didn’t I?

Off to JP’s fan fic character sheet in the Off Topic section with you!

Bubble-Commands are viable, i’m sure of it :stuck_out_tongue:

They are. And extremely durable, too. But that’s because using the Singularity Cannon is a no-brainer.

Hehehe. Fight No-brainer with No-Brainer!

Balance!

Balance!

Nice try! I think one of the no-brainers is too weak  ;)wt

I know… You’ve also seen how I fly, all fighters and interceptors…

People overestimate Singularities. It’ll take out shields real fast because of EM damage but once you hit hulls you can only watch your target run back for heals. Empire Engineers will scoff at Singularities while Jericho Guards will pay more attention to it. Pretty straightforward. Without a squad to mix and match damage types Singularities shouldn’t be too much trouble.

Bubble-Commands still rely on Engineers. May not seem much but that is it’s weakness which is a non issue for Frigballs. Take out the Engy and the Fighter fleet is vulnerable. Frigballs by the nature of it will never effectively run out of Engineers. And I wouldn’t single out Commands. Gunships are more than viable. So in public matches without proper premades … Frigates > Fighters > Interceptors.

I suspect alot of people will still feel inties can dominate but I think they haven’t clashed with a proper ball yet. Atleast one that put some thinking towards countering them. The game Ory and I was in showed clearly how interceptors are now second class ships. It was combat recon and the majority of points either side scored was from interceptor kills. And since Ory’s team had less (none at one point) - they won after time ran out. Simple as that. And this was down in T3. I can only imagine how bad it must be higher up the tiers.

Tip: Ram that command ship as you gun him down to hulls. That’s how I died in that game lol. Diffusion Shield doesn’t absorb collision damage wtf?

Well, shields don’t absorb collision damage unless you have the Jericho implant.

Hehehe. Fight No-brainer with No-Brainer!

It was a Recon match. I always take my Guard and play defence if I’m not the Captain.

Interceptors were completely gone in that match. My team had 2, at one point, but they quickly gave up and brought out Fighters/Frigates. Your team, on the other hand, had 4 of them out, at one point, doing jack xxxx all. Like they were flying around taking pot shots at us. More often than not I’d see a lont gunship or CovOps amidst our lines, trying to kill something…

Your Commands were the ones putting the pressure on us all the time. Getting hit with all sorts of weapons while flying a Guard is stressing and it actually forced me into a playmode I hadn’t done since the ship tree got revamped. Got hit with Rails, Beach Balls, Missiles, Nukes, EM Torpedoes (friggin AMS on cooldown), Jericho Torps and got knows what else…

If that match is a sign of anything, it should be the fact that Frigates have too much hp (as in, this last buff shouldn’t have happened, at all) and Commands are used as the new Gunship… sort of.

Alas, anything below T5 is completely overlooked and ignored, so nothing will likely be done to prevent this. However, I can’t really say this kind of match is an issue because, like it or not, it’s rare. It doesn’t happen ALL the time. I did 6 matches, yesterday and faced 2 Frigballs. The day before yesterday, 8 matches, 1 Frigball. And I can’t say anything before that because I was on vacation away from the game and the internet, in general…

T5 started with the new frig balls when ESB, Nova and NASA figured out that Guard+Engi+ECM was almost unkillable with .9.1. I really don’t know why they did the health changes this last patch, it just made frigs stronger and the other classes weaker…

I believe the HP balance was just nice before this patch.

Like I said in the past, I almost never left T4/T5 since 9.0.

And I have had a bunch of good games yesterday, until ESB started to play again at which point I luckily had to go anyway so I guess it was perfect timing on their side

Though I have noticed one thing:

When you have 3 members from the corp “CORP” on your side vs 4 randoms on the enemy, you practicly lost already. Since CORP is absolutely terrible at doing anything.

“I haven’t left T5. Also I made this awesome discovery [that everyone else also made within two days of starting to play that tier]!”

You’re hilarious and you don’t even know it

It’s not just that. It’s the general awareness issue with torpedo. Most people didn’t realize how utterly broken it is until they saw it used against them. So we had ESB abusing it since thursday, nova started around sunday and nasa around that same time after I talked about the build using it in corp chat for a while.

Now it’s common enough for most average players to have seen the power of it, so it’s spreading from top down fast. I suspect it was just as broken in 0.9.0, it’s just that not enough people discovered it yet for it to proliferate widely enough to become noticeable. It definitely has proliferated now though, and its use is exploding just like the old nuke did in early days of nuclear winter.

I had fought with, and against a single member of theirs in the past, but never saw a 3 man squad of theirs in T5…

I figured that maybe in a 3 man squad, and not seeing the usual terrible T5 pilot of theirs(Erric) that it might not be too terrible…Boy was I wrong… They all had 0-200 points and I had 800…but against 4 enemies it becomes quite hard especially once your teammates are no longer existing…

Not to mention, after the battle I found out they had 1 member with 1 T4 ship 3 T3, and the 2 others with 3 T2/T3 ships and they ended up in a R15 match…Which just shows how horribly stupid their members are, and how broken the MM is.

As I said, that is the discovery most if not all people playing T5 made within two days of starting to play T5. :good:

Well, you know, sometimes things happen! And you can win in t5 with randoms, with erric, against a squad:
