Although I agree that more players is nice, we need first more server capacity. Every time the players numbers rise over 2.000 we have problems with the current servers.

 

Don’t make the same mistakes that wargamming did with the planes game. They launched it too soon, and after few months there is less people playing than in Open beta.

“ELO rating” - it’s not an acronym but a name so it’s written “Elo” please.

The patch is beautiful. No balancing, but what is in is very nice.

The wings will be awesome once they get a minimal matchmaking (with more people, as this whole SecCon will only work well when the servers are at least triple sized in population), meaning that 10 sized wings will try to meet similarly sized wings, not just the first coming into the Q.

Wings
You can now form wings to join Sector Conquest!
Wings are temporary groups consisting of pilots from one corporation
Officer, vice-presidents and CEOs can form wings
Only members of the same corporation can be in a wing
A wing’s leader is the player who created it
Forming a wing
The leader has to start a squad first
The squad is then converted into a wing
Disbanding a wing
The leader has to leave the wing to disband it
You can’t hand over wing leadership
Wing battles
Wings can only fight in ‘Sector Conquest’ mode
Minimum size of wing is 6 pilots
Wings can consist of up to 12 pilots. Minimum size of wing is 6 pilots
A wing can only fight another wing
All wings join the main queue
Wing strength does not influence matchmaking
When you enter Sector Conquest, you can see the number of wings waiting for battle

 

 

This is a GREAT milestone in the SC universe. I expect to see full NASA squads vs Everyone else. 

I understand that we will face certain situations where it can be 6 v 12 or 6 v 10 and so on. But as long as the rewards are there, then its all good. 

Also, I fear that MM times for SecCon would increase, have the devs compensated for this in some way? I know for a fact that right now, before the patch, it was tough finding players in SecCon. So im curious to see how they will handle the larger battles with these lower player base especially with the higher requirements introduced recently. 

They should allow ranks 9-15 instead of the current 11-15. Just for now to get more people to participate in wings. 

Captain pick in Combat Recon
We have received a lot of complaints from pilots about the current captain pick mechanics. This is why we decided to change it according to your feedback.
While the new mechanics are in development, we’ve reinstated the previous version of captain pick.
At the moment of captain pick the part of the team with better ratings is displayed
The captain is chosen randomly from the selected pilots

 

 

New mechanics in development? Well then you should of kept the old SR system just a bit longer and just roll out the new one instead of reverting back to a even worst system! 

Custom battle
We found out that some players have been using Custom battle to hold unfair battle with the purpose of getting higher ratings. We have reacted to this with a number of measures:
Pilots no longer receive the following rewards for PvP Custom battles:

 

 

I’m gonna say that this is low blow to the few players that needed this function. I will suggest something about this change, but in the private forums. I have a good idea that would work since you removed the rewards from custom battles. 

 

Oculus rift support!? Then that means my Triple Monitor setup is MOOT now. As soon as it comes out to consumers, I’m getting it. 

 

In conclusion, Good patch. +1 to all devs. 
 

About the wings.

 

This actually looks like real corp vs corp battles now, and I think you did a great job seperating the queues with wings and pugs in terms of different play mechanics (everyone can play how they like).

 

But I don’t think that it’s good that corps get the same reward with squads and wings, so basically it’s still farmable as before with small squads, some luck and numbers. Big zerp corps can still ignore the wings if they want and do it the old way to get points because it’s easier than loose every time against organised 12 man strong corporations. At least the rewards should be higher, so it would be harder to earn points outside of corp vs. corp wing battles, and give the wing battles a real purpose, and good reward for it. Because right now there is not much point or incentive for everyone to fly in big wing squads except… for the sole fact that you fly with more people. It does not really encourage to improve your teamwork and become better, if you can just switch back to 4 man squads and depend on luck (bad corps would get obliterated against real competitive corps in SQ, and they would soon give up on the wings).

 

You should think about enhancing this new addition with some additional differences in terms of rewards and sectors in the game, make it feel more like a competitive corp vs. corp game mode, that would give the winners some real recognition outside the fact that they just “farmed” the SQ and got the influence points for it. As it will be right now, there is no difference if you earned those points either in wings or squads, you get points all the same. 

 

You are moving in the right direction, but please try to give some real purpose and incentive to wings/CvC play, at least like a form of ladder of CvC that would present the most sucessfull corporations in SQ by their win ratio in SQ, give more recognition to their skill and teamwork, not just their numbers and the farming they did.

 

Maybe more players and corporations would think about improving their skill and playstyle in form of real pvp competition, because right now the game just promotes getting a lot of people together and just farm the game, which is not fun and does not offer a long term enjoyment as a real competitive pvp scene could be. If you give more recognition to the CvC aspect and improve on what you started, maybe more players will start thinking this way and corporation culture will change from “mass recruit” to “be the best” instead.

They’ll probably end up having to implement a World of Tanks Clan Wars like system where it’s corp vs corp only and you fight the owner of the sector you want to conquer after first defeating all other competitors. It just makes more sense overall that way IMHO.

The more VP your Corp earned in that round the more reward all participating members earn (ie: if your Corp earned 50 VP you get 50,000 loyalty. If your Corp earned 100 you get 100,000 loyalty, etc).

I dont think they would lower the grind that much. HEHEEEHEH

Just give wings 1,5X of all rewards you can get in a random SQ game.
