Star Conflict OBT v.0.9.16 Discussion

You don’t know what the devs want to see.

But you do?

Listen, we point out the obvious errors for them to see. Whether or not they DO see them… well, the problem lies between US (the community forum) and THEM (the developers).

…however the poll discussion is the least of all concerns, except it shows that the majority votes for the wrong thing…

I think the devs are doing a good job so far. There are not many games in beta that roll out updates so frequently. So thank you for keeping this going!

I’m quite surprised there are concerns about the new weapons considering they are pretty much identical to the ones introduced during the holidays which were in use for about 1 month. That was plenty of time to test and gather stats…

In regards to hull and shield balances - this in itself is a complex endeavour for the devs to roll out in one patch so they decided to do it in stages and the first step was to standardize the shield sizes. The key phrase used was “first stage of our solution”. So I don’t see why there is so much negative feedback already given the solution has not even been finalized… The players should have patience and try things out so stats can be gathered.

I also don’t agree with the statements made about the polls in the game not being useful. Some people might not give a damn about these polls but we should not judge the whole player base on the actions of a few. Need not remind you that polls are used everywhere and are quite effective.

My advice to the devs is to stick to the stats gathered as they never lie. Do not try to please a few fervent fans at the expense of the rest.

…however the poll discussion is the least of all concerns, except it shows that the majority votes for the wrong thing…

Clearly voluntary votes, as well. Those answers are exactly what they wanted to do, not the Standards.

yeah… no. More than half of the voters don’t even know what the poll is about… they just vote “for the free GS”

The majority of in-game pilots simply DO. NOT. CARE. If even 70% of the playerbase votes correctly (what they really think is the best answer), there’s no point to it because the other 30% will automatically vote for the first option, meaning the results will STILL be false.

The answer? (which, by the way, was proposed 50 patches ago) Is to simply put on A the “Don’t care/Don’t know” option.

Personally, I would get rid of the GS reward from polls and put it back into the weekly bonus. Either way it’s 10GS per week (I’d like more but it’s not going to happen), but by making it linked to logins and not the poll you get two benefits:

The first is GS goes only to people who login actively, which is not a bad thing. If people log in, they will hopefully play at least one match, thereby upping activity in game.

The second is people who don’t care about polls no longer have any incentive to vote in them, thereby removing the “gimmie money!” votes that have thrown every poll the Devs make out of whack.

Never trust a statistic/poll you haven’t manipulated yourself.

While I agree that a poll has votes for the seemly wrong answer it doesn’t matter/help arguing about the poll and it’s mechanics.

The in-game poll has the same accuracy as voting for president or a party in your country and get paid for.

But we’ll see if developers base their decision on changes entirely on the in-game poll.

Please guys, this is a patch discussion not a poll discussion. People don’t want to scroll through pages of poll discussion to find useful comments.

While seeing the screenshots about shield it would be interesting to see the shield size before the patch as comparison. Right now everyone looks at the shields size because there was a change. But how much did it really change?

Interesting conclusions.

There is no ‘correct’ answer in a poll.

The answer? (which, by the way, was proposed 50 patches ago) Is to simply put on A the “Don’t care/Don’t know” option.

And this should be the first option and there shouldn’t be any GS awarded for it. Right?

Don’t xxxx distort my words. By “correct answer”, you know I mean “the answer you think reflects what you think of it”.

On A? Definitely put the Don’t know/care option. By all means, keep the GS reward, so people DO vote. Just don’t make the polls easy to manipulate. “Oh, the polls show they LIKE this or that.” Well, no xxxx, brainiac, it’s the top answer. If you shuffled the answers every now and then, you’d see VERY different results.

Here is all we could get from Russian developer:

  • Изменения по балансу кораблей в разрезе танкования щиты/корпус у разных рас еще не закончены.

  • Пока это первый шаг, мы избавились от элемента неопределенности в размерах щитов.

Однозначно можно сказать, что щиты фрегатов Иерихона и штурмовиков федерации, для большинства моделей уменьшились.

  • Balance Changes in Hull/Shield tanking area for different Factions are not finished

  • This is only a first step, at this moment we got rid of “randomness” in shield sizes. We can definitely say that Shield Hit boxes for almost all Jericho Frigates and Federation Fighters models got smaller

Polls will work only if they don’t give rewards. Wanna give rewards? Give us weekly 10 GS and be done with it. It’s that simple.

I wanted to point that too: "THe first stage of our solution is to standartise all shield sizes and make them independent from individual ship geometry. "

You can read, “The first stage” so it’s not done yet, I would wait instead of raging at it like if it’s going to stay just like that.

Thank You. Can they say by how much or if it is marginal? I think the size depends on the point of view. If you go by volume or diameter. The shield whether bigger or smaller still needs to cover the whole ship. Did also the shape change? So before it was more in the shape of the ships instead of a symmetric bubble?

I never really paid much attention to shield size/shape but I think I noticed some ships had a shape that was more elliptic.

It’s not you that have to play an Inquisitor S with 2 new parameters to take into consideration.

The shields of Inquisitors was larger but less high.

I am pretty sure that Shield hit boxes were always perfect spheres. So new shields aftere reducing a radius by w/e much they have been reduced ended up with less hitbox surface/volume

That gun just fits better with ecm play-style with its better range.

The “baby mortar” is far more powerful than the “Daddy Mortar”.

I loved it on my recon because it could safely take out beacon drones, have accurate aim at other target, and land a shot in a dogfight unlike plasma.  Plasma’s only good for long range, never near.  I’m not sure if Eclipse is supposed to heal yourself if you shoot an asteroid.  Other than cooldown, it heals faster than a repair station and helps heal multiple allies.

No, players had 200 extra Thermal Resistance points, and now they are gone.

Are you sure it was 200?  Losing 200 thermal resists would make pulsar lethal to anything in probably two shots.

I thought the first poll option always wins?

Not always, one poll recently had the second or third win with the majority of votes.  They should make a poll, “Should we remove GS from polls?  Yes.  No.  I don’t know.”

Anyone notice that gigas 2 now affects shields now as well?

I didn’t, and I don’t recall it on any of the patch notes.  Probably to balance it with the other two to make it viable for Jericho.  Jericho’s good for shield tanking collision damage, and fed’s just extra speed.

I have no clue how the shield size will really affect things.  It seems mainly like an interceptor buf.  Now I’m curious about how shots that go from shields to hull really happen.  If you have high shield regen and you loose your shields, does the regen increase your hitbox for your hull?  Is damage accuracy calculated twice so that shieldbox hits that would miss hull cause no hull damage?

I like that the weapons are back, tackler’s getting the slowing beam instead of gunship is great.  I hated that gun.  Eclipse can cause you to heal yourself.  Is that intended, or should it maybe drain your shields while healing your hull?  The super charger I wish was on recons.  It was a compromise, but I liked it, especially for trolling people with the damage sound.

It’s good to see you’ve listened to our complaints and verified that hull tanking was more powerful than shield tanking.  I’m going to miss my OP Empire engineers.

Yes, the third stage of the map gave 200 extra thermal resist I checked it in game, now it should give nothing.

You just made Empire ships STRONGER. It’s good to see you admit hull tanking is better, but let’s be realistic here…

Shield tanking is PATHETIC compared to Hull. This has been going on since the Passive Change. That was a lot more than 10 patches ago. You need more feedback than the 50 or so threads made on this subject? More “logs” to give you information on how 90% of all flown ships are Empire? FIX IT. PERMANENTLY.

I’m not sure how they made Empire ships stronger when the change really only effected Jericho ships in any noticable way…

Regardless, I’ve flown Empire ships primarily, since my first day playing long ago, before Sector Conquest was even in the game at all.  I prefer them because they don’t look like an ugly pile of triangles.

Because now it’s supposedly even harder to beat down shields. By buffing shields overall and not shield tanking, it gives a bonus to all ships that have shields, which include Empire ships.
