Funnily enough there was quite a bit of butthurt on the russian forums about the previous screenshot, so they came after me with a vengeance. But even with slightly modded build, those ships are still turtles that aren’t able to either give chase or get away, and if you keep your speed up, most of the time energy drain won’t be able to slow you quickly enough to prevent you from breaking the purple lasso by quickly diving into the geometry.

It’s incredible just how weak these ships become against decent pilots when they are that slow, even with all the tankiness.

Remember kids: friends don’t let friends fly interceptors that afterburn at less then 500m/s.

I expected nothing better from low-level ESB pilots, tbh.

I don’t mind 100 people targetting me, as long as they don’t shoot :stuck_out_tongue: now that is the part where it starts hurting!

Altho I guess 100 engies trying to warp gate into you…That could hurt as well if 1 of em hit.

I’m not a fan in general of weapons or strategies where the counter boils down to "don’t be there’. IE, Nukes (a couple of patches ago), Pulsar, ECM, Mass slow field. I mean, outside of some of the ECM modules the other guy doesn’t even have to aim to hit me. This also makes breaking up frigballs with inty hit squads impossible.Ā

You can, however, rest assured that those are terrible pilots (mostly). Otherwise, the system really is broken.

T1 and T2 vs T3 is still broken, bad pilots or not.

T1 doesnt stand a chance agaisnt T3. Think otherwise? I’ll gladly take you up on that lol.

Yeah, T1 pilots vs T3 ships is… well, you’d have to be an ace to be able to counter that effectively.

All the fun is gone from flying Engineer.

  • You can’t fight back vs Interceptors because you are too slow.
  • Your Drones can’t fight back vs Interceptors because your drones take too long to spawn.
  • You can’t escape because Warp Gate may as well be a one-use only item.
  • You can’t tank because healing is too slow.

I am getting seriously pissed off at spawning as the only Engineer on our team and being raped by mass Recon / CovOps / ECM with no way to fight back.

All the fun is gone from flying Engineer.

i sympathise and agree with most of your points there, Jason - except the speed one. Federation Engineers especially are too damned fast. They can outrun fighters with great ease :frowning:

I don’t mind their speed being vastly reduced (they should be slow), but their healing is hugely underwhelming right now. I’d rather have seen more tactical options or a buff to recon to counter healing than such a big nerf. Let player skill solve it - not a nerf which makes Engineers less appealing to play or have in a team.

Feds need a speed nerf across the board. No question.

I feel like the simplest way to ā€œfixā€ the Engineer now would be to change the drones. Something like… make the Drones an activated ability again - press F and two pop out, 30 second cooldown.

Drones no longer heal. Instead, they just keep shooting until they, or their parent, are destroyed.

Alternatively, the ā€œFā€ command could swap Drones from firing mode to healing mode… but the only way for that to work would be to deploy the Engineer with two drones active. That is a real issue with the class at the moment; if your team begins to lose momentum, Engineers are forced into combat situations with their drones still deactivated. That makes them easy pickings for unchecked Interceptors.

The thought just passed my head that we might as well start from scratch and remake all the ships etc so they can actually be balanced… Honestly, it’s kind of sad the thought even passes through my head…

Can someone tell me if I’m wrong in thinking this:

8.0, and the introduction of roles, and to a lesser degree the other changes, has caused a lot of problems that could have been prevented if there had been more openness about the coming change,(so we could give feedback ahead of time) and perhabs some ability for us to test the large patch before it released to make sure big mistakes don’t make it in and can be fixed before it comes onto the ā€œrealā€ server.

No. Let me tell you what I see on that image…

Funky side: T1, T2 ships (4-5 pilots with T3 ships at their hands). This tells me it’s a T2 match because I’ve never seen that many T2 ships in T3. Very rarely I see those ships in T3, to be fair, let alone T1 ships, unless the T1 pilot had T3 ships in its active hangar, which does NOT happen here.

Enemy side: Full T3 compliment with 2 T2 pilots (a 3rd having 2 of each T2 and T3, from what I can tell, possibly).

The Queuing System is BROKEN. It needs fixing. We cannot stress this any further to the devs. Excuses like that don’t help.
