Star Conflict OBT v 0.8.4 Discussion

That is a direct quote of what it says in the Patch notes, and not an answer to the actual question. Kipps’ question is how you get the Artefacts themselves - which isn’t explained anywhere. (That I’ve seen, anyway)

You get them as post-game rewards, same as junk, documents, etc.

I can confirm you will get them from Tier 3 PvP. Cannot confirm any other source at this time.

Oh, Anti… do us all a favour and smack someone with a ruler over the head until they tell you what the “hotfix” contains, because people do actually like to know these things.

No need to be such a xxxx! How about you try speaking in a normal and show some appreciation to the people making a game you clearly like enough to play?

You open Custom Battle screen, then find room and then you’re free to go and fight. You can create you own room too with map and mode of your choice. And this whole activity takes less than a minute… so… what’s so hard there?

See, this… THIS is exactly the comment you SHOULD NOT post. “Oh, it’s just a few more buttons, what’s so hard about that?”

It’s not, but people have to manually join those matches. And that’s something no one wants to do unless it’s an arranged fight.

Fyi - Me and Burnsson have been awarded one each already (Which we have converted to Irridium already for the Corp) Which means the Dreadnought will belong to Burnsson and myself only :stuck_out_tongue:

Just curious as to what you have to do ingame to get the Artefacts

What were you doing? Was it part of the normal loot process?

I would be there with you grinding that stuff, but some of us have to work, etc. :frowning: (Read: Sit with a giant cold behind my desk, staring at the screen feeling sorry for myself)

I’m mega curious what the dreadnought will be like and how it will function, personally.

Ta, that computes with Kipps/Burnsson getting some as well. Cheers.

Servers are back online

I’d show a lot more appreciation if the patch notes were more concise and accurate (which in fairness, they are getting better at). I am still in the habit of finding “unmentioned” changes in these patches, and I find that frustrating. Whether a change is good or bad is irrelevant - there’s nothing to be gained from trying to sneak it in unannounced.

Also… have you seen the Pirate DLC? Why respect a company that is producing EA quality add-ons and charging a lot of money for them?

Personally I’m OK with the new realistic mode, but it’s really unfair to pilots who don’t have the best ships of the tier, or have a very situational ship (e.g. LRF) that they don’t usually fly, but do so occasionally when the need arises.

The new game modes also means that I can’t squad up with my friends (we’re in different factions) and play a quick game or two. I don’t want to wait insanely long to get enough human players in a custom game.

Yes I have, and it’s a complete rip-off. The whole lot comes to around 140 Euros, which is insane money. The individual packs are all seriously over-costed, especially as of the six ships there’s only one that is really able to hold its own, and then at most two more that are alright if you have a good team at your back.

But moreover, the only good ship is a Tier 2 ship. Tier 2 is about as good as it’s ever going to get and didn’t need more ships. Tier 3 is a clusterfuck that some of us, foolishly, hoped the Pirate DLC might address.

But it doesn’t. They aren’t alpha-strikers who are going to smash the Frigball. They bring nothing new to the table, are under-powered or under-equipped pretty much across the board (with the exception of a single Rank 6 ship) and Gaijin is charging far too much for them.

To put it into perspective, let’s look at what DLC I can buy for the £60 pricetag the largest kit offers…

…Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening. That cost £40 on release and was an entire campaign. New map, new characters, new abilities, new equipment, higher level cap on characters and gear, new enemies and new plot. It was a self-contained game that let you carry over your old progress.

Disgaea 3’s “Everything” bundle. Again, about £40. It gives you new dungeons, a new campaign and an insane amount of characters who act as boss fights, and become playable when beaten. I never unlocked them all because, at a rough guess, it would take about 60-80 hours of grind to level up to the point you can take these guys on.

Compare that to what Gaijin is giving us. Three ships, two of which are lackluster and obsolete from the moment they hit the storefront, stickers (not exactly a high-cost item…), a custom title and credits. I’m sorry, but that’s a rip-off. For £60 I’d want all six ships, I’d want them all to be worth bringing, and I’d expect a lot more than just ten cosmetic stickers that take the art team five minutes to knock up. Frankly, for that money I’d expect to be able to reskin all my Empire / Federation ships into “pirate” colours!

Pretty much this.

Hmm where do you see this Pirate pack? i am at work so no in game access, but i was checking Steam and there are no Pirate DLC popping up in a search… :(

It’s through the normal game client, instead of through steam.

this is absolutly right…

i forgot to mention that…

not having the possibility to play with friends for a couple of games in one squad because one or two are on different contracts/ fractions is really F*****…simple as that…

this has to be changed…

You have to login to the game using the Gaijin client, not Steam.

If I were to give Gaijin the benefit of the doubt, I’d say the reason their paid-for ships are crap is because they are afraid people will compare them to 0-synergy ‘free’ ships and say “OMG PAY TO PLAY!” and quit on mass.

The problem though is because the paid-for ships are all underpowered compared to ships of much less than equal synergy they wind up ripping off the paying customers… for no reason at all.

Oh, so it’s also reserved to non-steam players?

HAHAHAHAHA

This game just keeps getting better and better…

So now engineering frigates don’t even have to stay put so can run away?  I just had a battle, after the server restart, and I couldn’t touch the sheilds of seperate frigates!  I’d have to team up with someone else just to get it down to hull, and be focused on that one frigate and ignore the rest of the battle!  Before they’d at least cluster.  I saw several heal balls just scattered about, and then you have to find them.  Maybe it if was line of sight heal it might limit their abuse, force the player to go near the ball to heal instead of a random immortality.

A speed boose for feds?  When was the last time Jericho got a patch to boost anything?  Patch 0.8.4 boosts fed speed.  The last patch boosted fed hull.  Patch 0.8.3 boosted engineering module recovery, and weaked guard modules.  Patch 0.8.2 boosted fed fighters and frigates.  Is it any wonder Jericho’s been loosing on the sector map for a while?

I want to know what kind of battle I’m going to play before I launch.  I haven’t played much realistic, but I imagine the ship lineup would be different than pvp.  I use a different lineup for PvP compared to PvE, so I’m guessing I’d tune differently for realistic.  For the custom battle, I imagine most players would just like to pick the mission type, playing more detonation or playing more combat recon, which are two very different mission types.

As for the targetting, please let us change the color to something we can find!  I play casually, with a trackball, not a gaming mouse.  Sometimes it’s just hard just to find out where I’m pointed.

Finally, I’ve complained about, and seen others complain about the “player rating” since it seems to only count kills.  Capturing/planting bombs in detonation don’t count, and beacons don’t count.  I’ve had a few matches where I planted two or three bombs yet no kills or few assists.  Can the rating be tweaked to also include “mission objective”?

is any of you bored enough to post screens in “Pirates” discussion thread:)??

I’ll post them.

No one is mentioning this, don’t you find this is a considerate buff to your frigates to fight off interceptors?
