Star Conflict OBT v 0.7.12

The only thing someone liked in this thread was the HUD.  I disagree, if you keep adding stuff to the HUD I will no longer be able to see my target at all.

As for everything people didn’t like, I agree.

DON’T DO IT MAN!!!

It will suck the soul right out of you.  Got tired with that game after about 3 months.

I noticed I still have the Black Prophecy client on my desktop…just tried to fire it up, dang!

that good or that horrible? xD

Oh, and expect more in-game polls.  Eventually one of the results will coincide with one of their pre-determined decisions and they will make a big deal about it.

Hi there, I hope to say somthing fair enough for both players and devs , about the new patch. For your time, I make it short.

Feel free to disagree anyways.

Two major concerns:

1 Ship price

2 Match making

Most rage posts are about the dramatic increase in the ship price.

However, this is becuase most of you have enjoyed the time when ships were cheap and easy to get.

Will you accept the price if the new patch is the first version you get, and you dont know what was the price before?

For me, its a yes.

Be honest, do you really want everyone to have a T4 ship after like 2 weeks play? (as you also have bonus reputation gain from the free licence at start) Def not! You will get bored quickly.

With the new price, you know your goal is harder to reach (like a month for a T4 I guess), and thats what keeps you playing.

For Devs, no need to say its a good way to get income.

Still, I disagree with the change in loot and implant cost. Esp loot, you should really get rewarded if you try your best to win.

About match making, I understand its hard and complicated for mixing tiers. Not too bad so far as I have seen.

The only thing is, T1 should never meet a T3, T2 should never meet T4. (Many ppl already said this)

I know Devs had adjusted the balance between tiers a lot, like some kind of multipliers, but have you ever considered the number and types of modules a ship can equip? T3 have 3-4 slots with various types offense and support modules, while T1 with 1 to 2 slots for mostly self regen and missle deflect, very few buff or debuff. No way they should be together. A T3 fighter can easily block a T1 until it gets destroyed. Same thing for T2 and T4, although T2 is much more stronger than T1 with more and better modules.

If so, the only solution will be, T1/T2, T2/T3 and T3/T4. Sounds easy, but its really complicate to deploy each player to the exact team, since some players even bring ships from 3 different tiers. But this is what Devs should figure out. Otherwise most players will be incentively unpleasent to engage in battle, except those skilled ones who seeks challenge.

Hope all these make sense to you.

A good frigate pilot can easily take out 4 or 5 interceptors equal skill interceptors by himself. given that this is a team game, the fact that two people working together is needed to take a frigate out is proof enough balance needs to be done.

apparently you haven’t seen the frigate blobs that can move from objective to objective via warpgates. this is a nightmare to deal with. if things remain as they are, this will become a popular, and near unstopable, strategy. frigates need adjustments to reduce their power. at the same time, interceptors need some adjustments to increase their power.

Although I agree with you that frigate blobs can be a nightmare to deal with, I am a firm believer that no integral feature of the game (ie. an entire class of ships) should ever be nerfed. Even the mention of the word instills nothing but negativity in the target population, and bringing balance into line with simple knee-jerk reaction nerfs can alienate a large portion of the player base. Instead, everything that isn’t up to snuff should be buffed. Frigates destroying inties with reckless abandon? Buff inties, and only buff inties. This is but a single – and, arguably, the simplest – way to deal with this. Ideally, this game would have a rock-paper-scissors element, where every ship class and build type counters something, but is also countered by something else. The simplest iteration of this would be fighters >= frigates >= interceptors >= fighters, but this could hopefully be expanded to fit in popular builds, such as support frigates being more effective against captain-killer interceptors, but in the process become less effective against tanky fighters. This is only an example, but you get the idea.

Also, I believe that no strategy should be made irrelevant. In this case, frigate blobs should still be effective, and should remain effective in the future. The only difference, however, is that frigate blobs should not be effective against EVERYTHING. They should have a counter, but only one that has a counter itself. No popular strategy should be relegated to uselessness just because it was a little too strong and popular at one point.

but its really complicate to deploy each player to the exact team, since some players even bring ships from 3 different tiers

Only the highest tier ship(s) should be taken into consideration. (or some sort of mystical ship rating based on ship rank, ship level, and equipped modules). I think its working that way already now.

+1

Yes it’s been said over and over again, but we should continue to remind this until it’s resolved.

I strongly disagree with any mixing of tiers.  Consider a new player, rank 1 ship, no implants, mk1 mods, vs. a tier2, rank 6 player with all blue mods and 6 implants.  Its incredibly unbalanced.  Its grind2win / pay2win.

The only ways to solve this are 1) no mixing of tiers, or 2) tiers and implants are sidegrades, not upgrades.

Let me elaborate a bit on (2).  Give tier2 ships different variations on weapons, not stronger weapons.  Give them new options for modules, but not more module slots.  Give some more speed than their t1 counterpart but take away something else like hull strength.

People like options.  Gamers love to customize their ships.  Think about what it would be like if tier1 and tier4 ships were balanced.  Everyone could play together, matched by skill (eg. ELO) and not by the strength of their gear (because all gear would be balanced).  People would still want to progress to unlock more options.  You don’t need to make them more powerful in every aspect.

that good or that horrible? xD

Think of Star Conflict with a massive open world and actually good pve.  Sadly the game tanked and the servers taken down b/c the publishers sold off the IP for some crappy remake and developers decided to make it totally pay2win.

you should be rewarded more killing a higher tier. also more credits, high tiers will become targets, and will be attacked more often.

problem fixed

so noone would play t4 anymore. hooray… -.-

and no, i’m not using t4 because i don’t have any t4-ships but i would like to use them as soon as i reach the level and not being focused all the time just because the devs made sh.itty decisions -.-

SC fire your marketing team YESTERDAY!  i agree with all the complaints, in the multitude of threads that are seemingly being ignored. but the thing that’s really pissing me off is the fact that a license is required to run a 4 man squad.  free to play my xxxx…should say “free to play for very limited options”.  there are so many other reasons why i wont give these greedy f***s 1 red cent, but this one takes the cake.  matchmaking sucks, progression changed from a comfortable pace to a standstill, items/ships are more expensive, but i was still having a good time until i tried to create a squad with some friends.  now i have to pay you money to join in the fun with my buddies…how #$%^&* stupid are you people?  it all leads to one thing.  you have to pay if you want to really play this game.  it’s too bad because other F2P games have given me cause to actually spend more money than if i were to buy a new game.  these idiots know nothing about how to make money and keep their customers happy.

Grinding doesn’t scar me. I’ve played games and grinded for months…years for high tier items. But that is all within a realm of a balanced game thats been around at these prices for a long time so that not many people get the highest ship possible, not even by paying. What angers me is the steep increase in what used to be a relatively easy climb to second tier. Where one day I was enjoying my time contemplating a possible $$ on my part, the next I stand wondering why I fought my way into battle. Might as well have gone into PvE and got 15x the loot and reward. Instead, I thought it would be fun to try to get more rep and level up for the ships I want. That didn’t go over very well–being that it was me and 19 some odd other T2 ships. Going from 1000 rep loot per pvp win and 500 per loss to 15 for that loss its pretty ****ing annoying. And then, having only gotten less than 10k EC out of it (prior to getting 10k+) The prices on many things were increased at a seemingly unbalanced rate. I don’t know what the DEVs have in store but any more stores like this and I don’t see why I’m trying to convince 20 people to come play this game, generating revenue. Whatever. Back to grinding ;).
