Star Conflict OBT v.0.10.0 Discussion

*Jumps in glee*

This patch…its like a precursor to the precursor itself! We all need to see the Open World mechanics or beg the developers to release a video explaining how it works or a detailed thread before the release. I rather have communication between them before release so we can talk about potential game breaking issues, instead of “Here you go, find all the bugs”

The pacth so far actually made my computer cry. The hangar looks, better? I cant tell but I hit a 5 FPS drop. In game I got a similar drop as well from 60 FPS to 40-50 average. No big deal, but I’m curious on what happened and why.

Black Prophecy was a game with Open world PVP and it literally, im not kidding you, looked like Star Conflict! That game is no longer with us, as the company went under in 2011/2, but if you want to have a taste of “PVP sandbox”, then search for some videos. Hopefully it will hold you off before you grovel on the ground uttering “Mama” over and over.  :taunt:

I conferm about Black Prophecy… I had great time there too… (Avatar confirms lol)

Thnoose video still look great! I’m a bit worried about the crafting thing in the warehouse coz it could simply transform the game in pay to win…Do u still remember the critting prosess in Black Prophecy…?

Apart from that the open space there had some limitations… Every pilot could access all the sectors but a lvl 50 ship (max there) could deliver damage only to ship from lvl 38 and above ( not sure can0’t remember well), But in the same way it would be nice if a t5 could damage only other t5 ships and t4 to t4, t3 to t3 and so on…Or maybe mixing tiers the same ways it happens in the current MM. The good thing is that the open space really adds deepness to the game and players can create kind of storylines among corps…about controlling sectors and so on…

Tier-locked PvP within Open World could be a good compromise; it keeps the less desirable elements of PKing out of the equation, yet you can still have positive PvE interactions (higher tiered pilots helping lower tiered ones).

Oh something along the lines of actually lore? And have news published weekly via magazine like EVE has?

“You see that sector on the map?” The pilot glanced at it,  as his captain went on, “That’s the NASA Sweet Roll manufacturing plant, where that insufferable, moronic, JP resides with his elite squadron. They control over 89% of the sweet rolls that pass through the galaxy that is necessary for weapon and fuel manufacturing! And we are going to raid them.” The pilot looked puzzled. Though the captain caught on to his subordinates confusion. “Son, its not some simple bakery treats. Sweet Rolls are a front for something that all recons need. ROLLS stand for Redundant Observational Low Latency System. AKA, they are basically required system for Recons to have in all there micro locators. With the ability to create micro worm holes for data and chat links, that system is a must! But with them making the prices sky high and nearly destroying any remaining competition, we have to take them by force…by any means necessary. Got that son?”

I am increasingly skeptical on this Open World now. I can see it being yet another botched launch like Sector Conquest - “Hey! Open World is for everyone… but if you can’t take on an ESB killsquad then you’ll never get to leave your spawn! Have fun!”

Open World makes far more sense as a PvE focused element, one that doesn’t eclipse the existing lobby modes in terms of income. It should be for fun, not for people who want to amass huge amounts of cash and/or farm their DSR.

Remember this Devs: There is a huge psychological difference for players between being attacked by an NPC that is too strong for them to handle, and being attacked by a Player who is too strong for them to handle. People will accept the former more readily and more frequently than the latter - just look at how quickly Sector Conquest went from packed to ghost town at launch. Don’t repeat that mistake.

 you sir, speak well.

I wonder how sandbox will affect our pilot profiles and multi kill medalls

We will have more improvements for the sector conquest, but we will have no real open world like in eve.

Say what? This quote is from Error, and now we have this update. So this say the devs never have any plan for open world…

Sandbox ≠ Open World

I recently started playing Warframe and the open world here seems similar.

There you have nodes on the missions and a little number over them. Let’s say 7.
That means 7 people are in that node que atm. So you join and you are automatically paired with those in a game.
Although the game is pve only.

Guess we can click and “travel” to a node and then do w/e we want there ?

I have my hopes up, but with caution.

Sandbox ≠ Open World

Ok…Anyway,i really really don’t want to see some ESB,EOF,…or any other corps full with elite squad up and go kill the others,i really don’t want to (only if we can squad up in that mode).

I wonder Will the Karma thing be ship based or profile based.

Because in said Ultima Online 10 years ago I had 2 PvE characters and 1 PK. And the karma of my PK did not affect the karma of my PvE ones.

Why not? Why those players don’t have the right to play? There is always better and worse players, stronger and weaker, why the strong shouldn’t have the right to have fun? Just because they will kill the weak? The weak will have to learn and become strong at some point, just like real life.

What’s the point of forming a corporation, making friends, becoming a good player if you wont be able to enjoy the game with them because the weak players are crying?

Be honest with your answer.

9-10 months ago. Or even more :

Moved from T2 to T3 at last.
Being farmed by Nova (at least those I remember)

Starting to feel bad of being the best in team and still no wins.

Started socializing.

Started Squadding up

Joined an Australian corp, cause I played late at night.

My job changed hours, so I could play in the day.

Nobody online from the Australian corp.
Sad.
Joined The Pack.

Started to TS.

Started having more coordinated squads.
Had tons of fun.

Profit.
Tons of fun.

They made mixed tiers and screwed up everything for me.
Sad.
They somehow made tiers better. Started playing again.
Dusted off my R8s and got 4 premiums on discount.
People started crying for WPK death squads.
Played my R11s, people still cry.
All my T4 are full purple full elite, nobody to play T5 with.
I still pay T4. Do not care for crying people. Nobody cared when I was in that position.

That is pretty much it. And that should be similar to every new player.

|you can not join totally new game, by some DLC and own players who have played for over a year !

I’m just saying…And your overreaction surprised me.I’m not saying the strongs, veterans cant play free space mode.I’m just afraid that some veterans would hunt and kill the newbs all over again and again, that would cause some major problem for newbs to level up,and eventually, they will be “heart lose” and quit the whole mode.I’m just saying what i think and trying to be polite.

I don’t think it’s an overreaction, it’s just having to hear constantly the same stuff over and over again  :taunt:

And by the way, if you saw the map, you can deduce that the closer the sector is to the “Capital” the harder (or even not possible) will be for the enemies to enter there. I think the middle maps will have no safe areas while the Side of Conflict maps will have.

I don’t know anything, just deducing it.

Yep it’s all simple deduction Watson.

Don’t forget there is consequences for killing players in a “safe zone” or what not in most open world games. That’s why there is gonna be a Karma system in place, as told by the achievements grayed out in game.

Besides, there will be no actual “Gain” or “Rewards” for farming players that are in Low Sec or Low Tier space.

Enemy tears is all rewards i need

And if there are no downsides to have negative karma (like unable to access things, lower rewards, or something of this sort) i am first on the road to hell.
