1st. I really don’t know what the fuzz is about regarding materials. My Sybil was happy built few days ago, Antares said “hello” this morning. I don’t know If I want to build Brave, but I already have 2 enriched beryllium and 2 ore laying in the warehouse. 

2nd. 90% of community are RU and there are some new RU corps around and about 2 internationals. Why? They are giving out NEW BIG SHIPS! Doing PEW PEW!

 

PS. Is there a correlation between number of players and server issues? I have connection to chat-server lost like 10-15 times today, was able to complete only one training battle from whole 1:30h training :frowning:

I bet the servers are going through growing pains. The team said that they are “addressing the issues”, so I think a server upgrade might not be out of the question to accomodate the increased population.

So, this is my second post on this forum, after almost 3 years playing Star Conflict.

 

Well, direct to the point: Destroyers really need some sort of balance. It’s is overpowered. Why?

 

To begin with, the role name and description. “Supressor class - huge ships, bla bla bla, capable of supporting they’re team”. After all, they’re not supposed to be the MAIN firepower like we’re all seeing these days. Tree, four destroyers each side… That’s not a support class. That’s a main role class. We do not see often a Long Range Ship taking a beacon, or chasing the enemies cap. That’s not they’re role, they’re not supposed to do that. I mean, destroyers are doing everything, except, I must say, for healing others.

 

We need a limit of destroyers per battle. Two per team would be fine, one in smaller matches.

 

Second: PVPs maps where we need to capture beacons. Fast ships like Recon are indeed designed to be the first ones approaching the beacons. Well, that would work if it was not for a huge ship near the beacon. 

 

Solution: a completely new mode for destroyers, which would have more players, like big battles in space. That’s the only way i see to fit this class. Small matches does not support big ships.

 

Third: Gravitational Lens. What were you thinking, Devs? That’s a vacuum cleaner in the middle of open space, grabbing everybody and killing everyone, without any means to counter it, except for Wormhole projector, micro-warp etc. It’s really overpowered.

 

It does need, to not say that it urges, a tweak, nerf, whatever it makes to be able again to play with this module. And matchmaking really needs tweaks too, rank 8 destroyer vs 11 does not have any chance.

 

I do like destroyers, and I am currently designing my ships to support and to destroy them. I want to a destroyer specialist. But I really have to say, they’re are corrupting the game, disrupting the roles. I like big ships, slow but steady, missiles storms, deathray, but i do not want it to destroy StarConflict.

 

Please do something!!!

Yep, was in a rank 9 interceptor with about a 500 m/s speed, trying to chase down a rank 11 destroyer which was flying alone, around the side of the map, towards our cap. It was so fast I was only ever so slowly able to make ground on it, but not before it nuked our cap (which was in a rank 8 destroyer), kept going, and hammered a mess of others along the way, at which point I threw up my hands in frustration, and let myself be killed.

 

As I said before, if their means of balance for people with destroyers, is only with other people with destroyers, then you don’t actually get balance. It also means that the other classes of ships aren’t counters for destroyers, they by their own indication that they put that system in place are telling us that only destroyers, balance against destroyers.

Even when I have nothing but rank 14, and 15 ships in my hanger, I’ll still run into rank 11 destroyers, which means you can run into destroyers in capture the beacon, which I have experienced before. If I threw a rank 11 of other classes of ships in with my rank 14, and 15 ships, it’d be greyed out, and not usable in T5 PvP, but that doesn’t seem the case for rank 11 destroyers.

Thing is that it is a real problem, that should be discussed, not shot down. If even the odd lower rank destroyer in a T5 match can bugger things up pretty good, just imagine when they look like T3 matches do once rank 14 destroyers come, which from what I could gather, was the point that person getting at.

Well hopefully it does something different for CtB mode. In anycase it’s just showing how silly it is in a graphical way that is more obvious on first glance.

Why couldn’t I use my r11 destroyer while the enemy team could use theirs? I had r11, r13 and r15 ships. I could use all of my ships except the r11. The player with r11 destroyer in the other team could use his destro and a r14 ship I think.

The data is there, as we can see what even just the odd destroyer does in capture the beacon at T5, and as it starts in T4, there as well. Then rank 8 destroyers are easier to get, so we can readily see what the effect of a wave of destroyers in T3 PvP is now, in time though we’ll have all sorts of people with rank 11, and rank 14 destroyers flying around. Given that we can already see their effect in every game mode, including capture the beacon, and those special missions, I’d most certainly say we have more than enough data to discuss the matter now, while it’s still new, and they’d hopefully be more receptive to suggestions. If we wait months so we can see what the result of a wave of rank 14 destroyers will be like, even more people will have become even more fed up, and have left already, meaning it’d be too late, the discussion needs to happen now.

You need to have three ranks difference between your highest and lowest ship to be able to use the lowest one. So take out your rank 15s and it should work.

Yes that is how it should work. However, in my next battle with the same ships, I could use all of them and I was the only one with r11 destroyer from the two teams.

lol What is the 100% loss thing? Also part of the ISP? I did notice that recently we got an extra 50GB but now in the router page where you can set bandwidth it used to report 14000(something forgot now) but now it shows half the value for up and down.

 

No idea which ISP would be good though. I doubt the cheaper unlimited ones would be better. Also don’t have fiber internet so adsl2 it has to be.

I guess I’l take the time to leave some feedback there.

 

First of all, I want to point out that I don’t have a destroyer yet, but slowly grinding my way to it.

Btw, any tips to find graphite in OS, or should I simply level up until I reach rank 14-15 and salvage higher tier kits ? I’m currently LV8 Jerry and LV9 in both other factions.

 

IMO, this game has potential to be much more than it is actually. Destroyers are a good Idea by themselves, bringing new roles is always interesting, but I feel they have become too much of a thing.

 

The thing is, apart from their initial somehow massive cost, they have almost no drawbacks compared to a Guard frigate (the class that I feel is the closest infunctionality) : 

  • Better tanking - Not a problem, they’re bigger
  • Better firepower - They are meant to have this one
  • Equal or better speed / mobility - Hum, This one feels off

What mainly feels off, is that they have no drawbacks compared to other ship classes (energy management is a thing, but main weapons don’t requiere energy to work): 

  • Same ticket value as any other ship while they can be killed by almost nothing 1V1 - High risk / low reward target while being relatively easy to grab points / synergy when piloting one (assumption since I don’t have one)
  • No real weakpoint - Of course, modules can be destroyed, but they have no real visual indicator of their state
  • No blindspot - Cannons can fire at any angle, with more or less efficiency, but still better than any other ship, even at close range.

 

My humble opinion would be to tweak certain things to move them from the “players’ go-to” to a more specific role of suppressive fire and mobile base

This means : 

  • Change their point value in all modes, making them a viable objective to be focused/protected by players
  • Make them bigger ? - I mean, they feel so small compared to the damage they can dish out…
  • Add the ability to lock on modules themselves / add a life indicator for both the attacker and the pilot - this could help targeting the parts that have already been damaged
  • Make them less effective at closer ranges - maybe add a cap to the main weapons rotation speed (as it was the case long ago with frigate heavy blasters). At least, make them requiere to be escorted by a teammate in cas they are attacked by fast ships ?

 

Those were my 2 cents. I see that there is a lot of hype and hate revolving around these new ships. I hope this gets better in time.
