So far from what I see going on here, we aren’t going to get all those resources we would have gotten from reaching our respective ranks  :003j:

 

Otherwise, the addition of the Player Vs AI is almost a throwback to the days of the practice mode, although you still need to sit in the MM in order to find a team this time (which is more than understandable).

 

WARNING: RANT BELOW

New destroyers sound like even more of a nightmare to produce thanks to yet another resourcePeople were yelling and screaming about how hard neodium was to obtain before… how much longer will it take to find this new resource without a spatial scanner!? But seriously though, neodium is almost unbearable to get in OS due to PKs, predators and random AI attacking you all the time since you can’t salvage it in any way shape or form and now there is ANOTHER resource in the loot pool…  why?

 

I’m going to stop on that now. Want to avoid another rant in the update discussion. Other elements added such as the new “broker” missions seems promising, despite only being valid for those who already own a rank 8 destroyer (which would be fairly annoying for other players who were thinking of saving resources to get a rank 11 right after deployment) and so far seems far less annoying to complete the tasks compared to Miss Frost (Tournaments were responsible for a fair amount of days being missed). Other things like the change for destroyer movement (which I was going to make a thread just to suggest the change anyway before) is more than appreciated, since it makes movement much easier when using a less agile destroyer. The new skin is… well… yet to be seen? I’m not sure on the exact date of SC’s birthday, so I guess it would be advised to keep an eye out for a post or in game mail (as doomb0t said).

 

One other thing: can we have a sort of “Customization weekend” of sorts? Something like have the presets only for credits whilst standard paint remains GS limited? I would put this into suggestions, but I felt like it’s too small of a topic for a whole thread.

 

Overall thoughts on the update: Generally positive, with the broker present it allows players to have a chance to get a R11 destroyer early (kinda) and the new achievements (although they pulled a lot more destroyers into pvp) are rewarding since some of the tasks are most definitely achievement worthy (owning 2 destroyers is definitely achievement worthy).

I meant i can’t afford 1/2 of a single one, not 4-5 SP ships out of 9 ships total.

 

Well. It’s just depends how do you play. I have 5 SP ships, 1 destroyer and 2k monos waiting for me to decide what next. I don’t play like 5 hours a day. Dailies + league and that’s it. Those events are dropping lots of monos as well.And I am a gatherer I just use them to get resources.

Well, i had to choose between grinding the game or playing the game. I chose the latter. I don’t find dailies or leagues fun. I’m not an asian grind lover.

Let me explain, you wrote in-game chat and forums about how stupid the game is, again and again, and wait for a full detailed answer? Sorry but i don’t like this way of communication. 

It’s odd you’re surprised people lose patience when you’re repeatedly arrogant and dodge the more inconvenient questions - and I don’t mean this thread alone, you’ve been doing this for a while now. If you really feel like it, you can compare my attitude now to what it was a couple months ago (on this forum both publicly and privately with you, and in-game), back when your now constant snarkiness was expressed only occasionally.

And I stand by what I said, because veteran gameplay has been getting crappier and crappier for months and little to nothing has been done to fix it - on the contrary, actually: every single update over the last several months brought something that made the game less enjoyable for us, while giving very little in return - from the positive things, I can only remember the SP rework in the previous patch, and I did praise it in that patch’s discussion.

I didn’t insult them, though. I believe I’m free to criticise the fruit of their work, however. I try to be respectful, but see the post above yours for arrogance check.

In other words, I would much rather you focussed your - admittedly strong - efforts on balancing/fixing/making playable at all the already existing content instead of coming up with new ideas that will take weeks and months to balance.

 

And I mean what I said earlier, Doomb0t - respectful communication works both ways. You have my apologies if you still think I’ve come off as arrogant myself, but please put yourself in our position when our suggestions and pleas are shot down or ignored for months. And by ‘our’ I mean everyone on the forum and in-game that’s probably already classified in your book as a ‘constant whiner’ - and I’ve probably earned that, tbh, but I still want to enjoy this game as much as I did half a year ago. I can’t now.

  1. I understand your concern about this matter, it was hard decision for us, but this is how an economy works. Also I repeat that that’s why we made 2 chains of quests, not one.

Thank you for your points, doom. That makes sense. I’m aware that I cannot do the grind, therefore I do not expect these new resources to be handed to me. I’m okay with that - if I do not put forth the effort for these ships, why should I get one?

My main question though, is why can’t it just simply be more neodium plates? i.e. Why can’t it take, say, 2x the resources to craft a T4 destroyer than a T3 destroyer? It wouldn’t have to introduce another resource in the game and yet it would also make obtaining T4 destroyers a challenge.

 

Thanks for feedback, we can’t implement market even if we want it, it will be one of the most serious game decisions and demands  a lot  of resources 

I hope your team is at least considering the idea of a market. I believe that the right implementation of this, while very difficult, would be a very positive step for the game’s economy, especially when taking into account the potential income for the developers.

I’m going to dismiss that stereotype as one of ignorance and state that if you don’t put forth the effort, then don’t expect wealth to be handed to you. Special Projects are just that, special. They require for you to go out of your way on teh mighty quest to obtain epix lootz for you to craft your crown jewel of a customized ship. It’s not designed to be easy.

 

I did however hear a rumor that open space will be reworked. If someone in the pipeline could confirm those rumors…

Cogs, think about the endgame content this way: the new game modes like leagues were designed to give endgame vets something to do. I’ll agree with you in the fact that it is not an ideal alternative to removing high tier squads, but at least it does give a rather impressive reward that can be repeated each week: 30 monocrystals.

If Astraal up there wants to play the game _and _get stuff for his Secret Projects, Leagues are ideal for obtaining those resources. It’s not asiangrindfesty like how he states, but rather it’s 5-man T5 elite fun, old school sec-con style.

Now, this is obviously no solution to the removal of T4 and T5 squads, and one of the points that I’m trying to push is to reimplement T4 and T5 2,3,4-man squads in those tiers only. Death squads belong in those tiers because those tiers are end game and where vets are supposed to intermingle with each other.

You need a market and trade between players to call it an economy

Neodium plus beryllium plus whatever the T5 destroyers will be made of. Imagine trying to mine for just one of their resources. You have something like a 1/50 chance of getting one of them already, now spread that over three resources and you’re looking at months of grinding for just one destroyer. Not a good thing. If you can’t get the economy right, howabout you get resource gathering right and let us mine for specific resources instead of playing your dumbass roulette.

Other than the new resources, I like the patch.

Also, as many have said before, the AI mode is nothing but free credits. I like it, because it’s like a faster PvP, but it’s much too easy to camp.

Anniversary, increased bonuses, new color schema - thank you and congratulations, it has been truly a long way.

  1. Beryllium and new T4 destroyers, if there will be some conversion of Neod to Beryl in the future, than it is not that bad, otherwise having a new material is quite off-putting, and implies that T5 will have it’s own unique material too, which is even more off-putting. It is yet to be known how lootz of new mats will be distributed in OpenSpace, because even now, in order to farm for T3 destroyers you almost guaranteed to need a t4-t5 ships to farm it efficiently, and at that point, you might as well farm for T5 destroyer instead. New players that only reaching ranks of r8 destroyers cant really farm it in OpenSpace, and their only hope is ranking up rewards and if it’s not enough they will happily skip r8 destroyers all together.

  2. Players vs AI, obviously I don’t personally care to much about it, except for one thing, it made a big cut on pool of players in Fire Support queue (where i farm my credits), otherwise it can be a good way to do some safe stuff for r1 ~r7/8 pilots, definitely should be blocked for r10+

  3. Destroyer controls - i personally dont really use it, but i can see how this can be helpful, ++

  4. Auto-fill for forward fleet assignment - god bless you all! and as niri pointed out, it is capped at 96% now, can not reach 100% - is it intended?

  5. SC leagues times and new cycle for North America.

Even though its restricted due to forced being in teams and unable to transfer during the cycle, which does not work as easy as in RU hours, due to generally lower population, it is still something, and this something for us is huge. All ru/Eu players don’t get how good they have comparing to us, we have had it the worst, all the “squad removal”, b!5(h please, we had no squads for past 2-3 years, at all sometimes we would not even be able to find T5 games at all, solo. In Ru/Eu hours, there is always a way, maybe it i snot intuitive and convenient of simply clicking launch, but there were always options just gotta put a bit of an effort.

The 96% could be a possible x.y% value fail.

In easy values: 16% aren’t enough. 6*16% = 96%. So you need 16.17% to achieve 100%. But if the game value each ‘16%’ ship as eligible, you will likely miss the 16.17% ones. Maybe the system should/need a coding to first use the hightest shiprank with the best % and then extend it to lower ranks/% to work correctly.

I’ll give my brief review of this patch

 

R11 Destroyer prep:

No… Just no… Adding a completely new resource that can only be farmed in a R8 destroyer is completely moronic, not to mention a horrible idea for this game… Grinding neodymium was bad enough, but now this?

Players vs. AI:

Can’t say I like this change. It is going to take away from the already low PvP playerbase… I don’t see what was wrong with having PvE missions and PvP. I’m sure this is a good mode for newer players to grind up without fear of being seal-clubbed, but I still don’t like the change myself.

Destroyer Controls:

Personally, I never used the alternative controls, but I can see how some people would like them.

Leagues:

You did something right with Leagues finally (made a US League time), but only smothered that good change by ruining the rules for Leagues… If you are trying to encourage people to play Leagues, those rule changes are not the way of doing that. I understand that you want teams to become more permanent, but teams are one of the biggest issues with Leagues to begin with. Just make Leagues as corporations/alliances as the teams, so people aren’t forced to rely on the same group of people being online at the same time everyday.

I give this patch a 3/10 overall. Very poor patch overall. The only upsides to this patch were the new League times and the various interface changes…
