I recently started playing again after a short break and am seeing this kind of teams frequently. (2+ squads on one side and no squads on the other)
Something’s really wrong

I have been finding that to be pretty common even in T2. All the teams stacked on one side along with the matchmaker not always choosing the C.R. Captain from top 3 highest SR on the team.
Same problem here. Not sure if it balances based on SR, but if it does, it seems to think that pilots work better on their own even against squads. False.

Welcome in my world. :taunt:
Well, technically is not wrong. 2 men squads are considered as single pilots for MM so they don’t have different MM options. I agree that they should balance squads, but it seems to be random. I have found that kind of games, and others where you have squads at both teams.
But as long as they are 2 men squads, it doesn’t matter really.
3 and 4 men squads NEED to have another 3 or 4 men squad in front, and so far the MM delivers.

thanks. I missed that fact.
although honestly - a bunch of two man squads vs full randoms can be a big deal even if those squad pilots are not above average in skill their collective coordination can be hard to overcome in certain game modes. like beacon hunt or realistic mode for eg.

Yes, but small population is a problem here, so this way the mm process is sped up, because is just a matter of SR and not a matter of matching squads.

The matchmaker is sped up by putting a 2 men squad as 2 single pilots, but there is no reason for the MM not to flag them with an exception, and to evenly balance teams if there is more then 1 squad (of 2 pilots). One squad on one side more is ok, but why 2 or more then on the other side? It does not facilitate MM-ing at all. Odd numbers create a disbalance in one game, but even numbers of squads should be equally split to both sides. I assume it wouldn’t take a programing genius to correct this.
Want the MM to be even better?
Remove SR! Simple, effective. and kills off the “Hard Core” players that focus on a little number that means nothing about actual skill! Of course, this IMO.
A 2 man squad can face an 3 man squad, and a 3 man can face a 4 man. Thats the way it works right now.

They will focus on other little numbers instead. Remove all stats except win ratio and then you’ll have the only number that counts in the focus. Best track it separately for solo and squad play though.

you may have a decent point there Snib.
I just cant stand the people that think SR is everything when a WIN is much more valuable then a number. I like loot and credits thank you very much!
You can argue what’s more valuable - often to me a completed contract is the most valuable, for example - but from a match-making perspective it is indeed the most important thing. You’ll want teams balanced around the player’s capability to win, not their ability to do other things in game.

Yes! Exactly. To fly well = Win. Flying less then optimal = Lose. Making it as simple as that is what it should be.
Going after kills and ignoring objectives is a sure fire way to raise your SR, granted, if you dont die, but you dont learn team play, which will hurt you in the long run.
You should gain SR by capturing beacons, plant the bomb and kill the captain as well, or remove it completely.
Or a new gamemode : SR hunt

But Devs nerfed SR hunt…

I fully agree with you. I just care about winning when my contracts are the win type. If not, I just try to win, but most of the time I get to the top of eff or kills so most contracts are completed anyway.
And vouchers are all that matters at this time XD
What they should do is a SR which takes into account the last 100 battles WR KR and Assist ratio.

You mean, like make SR an actual indicator of skill instead of based on horrible stats? Thus making a better judge of a player and there abilities?

I have seen this many times. And it has been reported several times (there is another thread) but devs don’t seem to care. SR also doesn’t seem to matter anymore or very little compared to 3 months ago.
Welcome to MY World of Matchmaking!
