Welcome to MY World of Matchmaking!
ESB vs ESB sure is brutal.
Can the match maker create a game randomly to speed up the process, and then sort the teams based on skill rating? It seems like it lumps teams together randomly, but if there was a mechanism to sort them after the match was…matched, then I think we’ll see a lot of problems go away.
For instance
Initial MM (Theoretical)
Team 1:
[1] Bob [boB] (1200)
[1] Frank [boB] (1000)
Zillich (1300)
Nero (1250)
[2] Huro [bNV] (1100)
[2] Vire [bNV] (1500)
(Bot) Joseph
(Total SR = 7350)
Hank (1100)
Breata (1000)
IlutUlz (1300)
H4RD33 (1200)
Niax (1000)
Poizun (1100)
(Bot) JPHack
(Total SR = 6700)
Technically, team 2 would be disadvantaged. Just look at the lowest SRs on the first team as well as the squads. Both are higher. The MM should detect this and use a set of algorithms to balance teams around SR and total squads as best as it can. The final result should look something like this:
Final MM (Actual)
Team 1:
[1] Bob [boB] (1200)
[1] Frank [boB] (1000)
Zillich (1300)
Nero (1250)
Hank (1100)
Poizun (1100)
(Bot) Joseph
(Total SR = 6950)
[1] Huro [bNV] (1100)
[1] Vire [bNV] (1500)
IlutUlz (1300)
H4RD33 (1200)
Niax (1000)
Breata (1000)
(Bot) JPHack
(Total SR = 7100)
The end-result is a much more balanced game, IMO. Thoughts? This is obviously simplified, so additions/suggestions would be welcome.
Say
ESB vs ESB sure is brutal.
:dntknw: I don’t know about that …
But I do KNOW NASA on NASA are usually knock down brutal with NO MECY or HESITATION in KILLING each other.

Nope. I don’t want to have a guy in my team with SR of 1500+ and WLr below 1.

Say its not SO !!! :what: you may be excluding some HALF FAST rightous players.
Why…Why am I a bot?!
The MM surely knows not to count JP as a bot…or is this intended.
Yeah, I agree. SR should DIRECTLY corrilate to the MM.
High SR matchs you up with high SR. Simple. Low with Low! How simple can you get it!?

Corp members and anyone I squad up with excluded. Because I can communicate with them. Any random guy with high SR and below 1 WLr I have no idea what he is up to. Btw. there is another thread about flying and poor WLr. Here is more about matchmaking. And SR has only limited use as this stat can be “farmed”. But right now nothing is used whether SR or anything that results in strange matches as posted. Since the devs don’t reveal MM mechanics anymore and only say they work on dynamic MM, we don’t know if that is supposed to be that way or if something is messed up.
2 pilots working together are infinitely stronger than 2 randoms. Had a match where a 2-man squad of ECM + Gunship were brutalising everything that crossed their path.
Matchmaking can’t treat 2-man squads as solo - it has to give equal squads either side.
Mmm this got me thinking.
If the SR was removed the MM equation, would that force the MM to use actual game stats like Assists, kills, beacon repair or capture average, etc? Wouldn’t that make it more “Accurate?”

I don’t know how. capture points are not an average they are accumulated, so useless. Average kills may help but that doesn’t mean pilots with low(er) kills don’t contribute enough for a win.
But right now they should just stop putting a bunch of 2man squads on one team and none on the other team! You may still win in a team with no squad but the is a big gamble of MM to think all the squads are stupid players or the single players in the team without squad are good enough to win against squads.
Welcome to MY World of Matchmaking!
ahhh maximum and friends
Welcome in my world. :taunt:
that is what you get for squading up with DNO, your own fault.

YEAH!

protip: don’t squad with DNO
edit: didn’t see xKostyan post
JPhack mentioning SR & Squad in the same sentence made me think. A while back anyone not in a squad complained enough about squads being OP that squads were penalized by putting them against a tier higher. This did not work and effectively put a penalty on anyone who bought a peimium license. Perhaps a better way to add some balance would be to lower the accumulated SR points and split it with every member of the squad. Also increase the penalty for getting killed by a player without a squad. So if any member of the squad gets killed SR for every member goes down equally and get a kill every members score goes up.

Bah, don’t blame Satori for this thing, i am responsible for this, ignore that he was in my squad, so i am simply the Matchmaking - Victim.

OF mate, according how you blame the matchmaking, then i’m always in bad position. “Almost” always i’m against ESB, NASA, WPK, DNO, NOVA, PDX… <insert here a pretty high number of corporations> Still i’m not whining about it in every thread. “Get a squad” is a popular nowadays (as always i mean). Let’s say that it’s my fault why i play alone with good sr/loadout… etc, then MM put me against well coordinated corps, which is… ok.
Sometimes when i’m lucky to get in the same team with already mentioned corps, then on the other side is another well coordinated corp with a really good ship setup/communication or another “victim” as you said. I know how he feel at that moment, but still it’s just like that. Blame your dsr/loadout/rank/purple/synergy… etc but tell that to other pilots in the other team with not so good sr/ships who have to pew you almost without a chance, till they learn and get some exp. in the game.
MM is like that at this playerbase that in 90% cases, even more the other team will suffer some unfairness, even with squads vs squads (not to mention a squad with dsr 1600+ vs another squad with dsr 1100+)

:yes_yes: I know these things, but if everyone in each thread talks about the Win/Loose rating i have to say that, but now i think the whole forum know that, but i really hate if some players come with their prejudices that i am not playing for my team. I die often for this.
