Ok so every other game out there has the option for players to choose the PvP mode they want to play and PvE is typically the random one. Considering that 90% of contracts can only be done in PvP and that about 30% of them require you to do something specific to a single PvP mode; it makes little sense that you can’t queue up for the mode you need.
I have not gotten a beacon capture in well over 7 battles in a row now it has been combat recon or team battle. I need Armada vouchers but the only 2 I have left to do are the beacon cap ones for 2500 (+1400) and 5000 (+3500) and then the one that’s always available for 1500 (+1050). This is getting really really annoying as I can easily do them in a single battle…but I’m not getting the game mode I need.
Yet with PvE queues are needlessly long since you have to select a single map to queue for. Why not just lump all the PvE into one queue and separate the PvP into multiple queues considering like I said before 90% of contracts can only be done in PvP and some of those require you to complete a specific objective that you can’t get in every game mode.
I feel that the PvP queues would balance out as people need to do certain contracts and some people just don’t like a certain PvP mode, personally I hate hate HATE!!! Combat Recon as it turns into a twelve minute game that rewards some of the lowest synergy gains per minute of any game mode.
This is just my 2 cents take it as you will.
Now listen to this idea as well. Add a specific queue option to PvP and a random option to PvE. This way people who wanted to get into a specific game mode in PvP could do so but people who didn’t care and wanted a shorter queue could still choose random. People who chose random could get paired with people who chose specific so you can still get your contracts completed just at a little longer queue time.
Add random option to PvE but keep specific as well same rules apply as to PvP randoms can get matched up with non randoms. I don’t know about you guys but I only do PvE when I’m in desperate need of credits so I’d like a queue that would be a little faster than trying to figure out what map people are queuing for with PvE\
So I guess its 4 cents now but meh
Here comes the naysayers. With a few people providing constructive criticism sprinkled in between.
This has been discussed several times already. It’s random because some modes would be “overused” and other would be empty. Our playerbase is also small, if we could choose the PvP mode we want we would split the population in many more queues, and that’s horrible, we would have to wait 30 mins to get the game we want because maybe the other 90% of the playerbase doesn’t want it.
If we had 10 times the population we have now, maybe the queues would be ok, but now it’s impossible. And as I said, some gamemodes would simply die, and not because they’re bad, but because most of the people don’t like them for X reasons.
I understand your frustration about contracts, and the fact that you dislike Combat Recon, like you, most of the players do. But me, with another minority love that game mode, specially when we’re the captains, and we would have to deal with the fact that we would not get a game for the rest of our life because no one wants that gamemode, because either they’re bad as captains and they don’t like the pressure of being one, or they don’t want stupid captains in their team.
About the PvE random queue, I don’t care, people don’t do PvE for the fun, but for the income it provides. They know wich map they will do and they set up the ships for that specific map. If people that enjoy this game’s PvE, the option could be ok, I’m not opposed to it.

And the first response on this thread is a post saying nothing about it.
The fact that people say no to your suggestions is not because they’re “naysayers” think about it.
On one hand there is such a low population that choosing pvp modes would be quite lengthy. Having the choice between specific game modes and random pvp is a good idea.On the other hand doing pves without a squad would be have quicker queue times in that system.
Overall I think this suggestion is good. But why you post in this forum? Devs don’t go through it themselves. They have people ago so that for them and send the ideas to the devs.
Nah, it’s a bad idea. There is a reason why you have 4 ship slots.
U must play t1, if u dont do anything u don get any synergy, simple as that

This.
The contract system needs fixing/removing, not the random queue.
The solution is simple. Remove Contract Cooldowns. The MM makes you wait long enough, so it would act as a countdown anyway the way it currently is.
Heres a small help to the contract part of your problem. Since you can’t find the right game, try just fulfilling the right contracts instead, like:
Select contract group, and complete any contract without signing them, something like an auto-contract system. The limit to this is a maximum of 3 completed contracts per game.
If that isn’t enough, a maximum of 1 or 2 contracts set to auto-fullfil, along with 2 or 1, respectively, chosen contracts.
Problem is…
You’ll get progress but you won’t get specific contracts completed unless you aim for them first.
It’s gambling/randomizing which contracts get done and won’t.
Your problem’s still there though; you can’t chose the game and contracts you want to complete, like beacon specific, but it’ll move the focus more to contracts rather than game modes. Saves you the trouble of picking out the contracts and aiming for a game, ok?
Not making a new thread for this because it’s the same topic (contracts), excluding queues, but in this case the problem isn’t queues… aside from gambling.

Atm it takes 3-5 min to find a game.
If there is a split between game modes, here is what’s going to happen:
lets assume that by some random fluke, at some specific point in time detonation has a lot of players and recon has only a few. This leads to people having 1 min queue and large games for detonation and 5 min queue for small games recon. just for a short bit.
what happens next is people changing their preference to detonation because it has players and dropping off recon because it’s empty. Which becomes worse and worse for recon because it has less and less people in it because everybody is migrating to the “populated server”.
this situation is self sustaining. As long as recon is empty it is forced to remain empty. which kills the game mode.
This is independent of people liking or not liking recon. just a random event where the recon lovers are absent from the lobby at some point in time snowballing into a complete emptying of the game mode server because of how social dynamics work.
I think we can just fix the contract system and OP’s problems will be solved. There’s tons of suggestions, ranging from “all contracts can be fulfilled without having to select them” to “scrap the contract system”.
Personally, I would really like the PvE idea. I just want to play, don’t care to wait or to grind any particular map. Problem is that it could hurt the PvP queues at this point in time.
The PvE idea is nice, but lots of people build their ships specifically for certain maps. I wouldn’t even think about bringing a missile shield to Blackwood, but Hidden Maintenance? I might. I think if the custom games were better integrated into the queues, especially for PvE, it’d make life a lot easier on that front.

True, it would be used more for T1 and T2. But the shorter wait times would keep newer players interested in the game long enough to learn the need to find squads when they get to higher tiers.

But if they integrated the custom battle into PvE, like a lobby system where you know what map and tier you’re getting into, it’d benefit people by not only shortening queues, but also letting people keep picking their maps.
