Just go and “scan” the inverter in one of the new sectors if you are short on cash. You get 450k
Don’t know who’s in charge of the game economy, but they seem intent on nerfing it into a galactic economic depression…
This made me laugh

You know, instead of complaining, you could try the new PvP sectors in the map. There you will have plenty of good loot. But it is not at 2 jumps from base.
The main problem was that people was exploiting certain sectors and farming millions of credits per hour doing nothing and mostly AFK with a high tier engineer.
Now you can’t.
Send your regards to the people who exploited the open space so much in the last months…

That is what I was doing, I have tried all over, focusing on the DR 10 sectors, and all I was getting was crap 4k processing blocks with the occasional 60-100k trophy. I say it again, all the free ways of earning cash are more profitable than mysterious crates. Something needs to change or if they want to keep like this then I want my GS refunded, because as it stands it is a rip off.

I’ll give this a go later when I get into game. Is this a one time only thing or can you ‘scan’ it multiple times?

Still, with the scanner you will have much better income that without it. In fact, you seem to forget that most alien stashes, pirate stashes and such are really well hidden, and almost impossible to find without the scanner. You should not look only for blue bars. Most green ones are also good.
Anyway, loot income from invasion has been “adjusted” all around due to economy balance reasons. And it can be adjusted again in a few weeks. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to refund the scanner.

They are not impossible to find without a scanner, just need to explore some and you find them…for free. Same for all the normal crates, you can find them easy enough for free. And their spawns don’t change so again Scanner is useless. If something changes and the scanner becomes viable again then I am ok with that, but nothing has been mentioned about invasion economy updates by the devs since the release of the patch, which does not bode well. And 4999 GS for a now useless module is extremely frustrating, and quite insulting.
Just to clarify an issue here, when the spatial was on sale before the last update, the maps had an X amount of loot. At this point the loot is different hence the use of spatial does not give the same results. Personally I have never farmed credits from the invasion nor stayed there for over an hour at each game session. If some have have information about players that might have abused the system as it was, by all means measures to be taken against them.
And what I’m discussing here is not the amount of credits but the definition of “rare” loot, and the initial cost of the spatial for that loot. Apparently I paid 5,999 GS for it and that is not the issue. Everything comes around 1 fact, it takes hours and hours right now to get some of that “rare” loot and its not at all rewarding. Can’t remember who posted, there might be thoughts in expanding the pvp in the open world areas, but it might be an explanation. If that is the case, and in fact whatever other it may be, devs and publisher need to understand one fact. A good amount of players that invested in the spatial are not happy with the present situation. What will be the correcting measures, how and when remains to be seen.

The problem is that the spatial scanner is as useful as it was before. The module has not been changed. It is the same, and their functionality is the same. What you paid for is still there.
They have balanced the economy in invasion now, since before that it was exploitable, and now you have to spend the same time in high tier invasion map as in high tier PvP or PvE (considering failure, deaths, repairs etc) to have the same profit.
And still you can get blueprints and faction loot, which you can’t in PvP or PvE.
I have bought one, and I still think is useful. But that is my opinion of course.
PS: Anyway, they can increase the loot value again as well. Just wait.

No one said the spatial’s module changed, perhaps you have not read my reply well, the spatial was identifying X value loot and was bought for THAT loot while now the loot gone to -10X. And just to clarify once more, its not the credits my problem but rare should rare and not “rare”. And the value of the rare should be high and not as is at this point.
Very few blueprints have significant value, to me that is, and those are only the MK5 and to be more clear, the once that are needed at the workshop to manufacture a MK5. Those that without the b/p cant be produced and only.
I agree with you, it is your opinion while I have mine, you do agree on this I assume.
I’m puzzled about your PS, on what grounds do you state that ?

In the grounds that they can change loot value according to the game stats. The same that they have nerfed the income because it was too much, they can increase it a bit if they see it is too little.
Don’t worry, I don’t have “special” information, it is just a guess.

Stop lying man !
There was no way you could farm million of credits by afk farm invasion.
Still, with the scanner you will have much better income that without it. In fact, you seem to forget that most alien stashes, pirate stashes and such are really well hidden, and almost impossible to find without the scanner. You should not look only for blue bars. Most green ones are also good.

again lies! you cant have much better income at all with/without it.
The alien/pirate stashes gives green signals(expect mysterious) as every other loot gives so its is nearly impossible to check all green lights. And those loot are 99% ****
Loot system got 10x nerf. it is not adjusted.
The truth is Spatial scanner is not worth now. It is crap.

Farming Invasion with a $10 spatial scanner was previously an option to reduce economic grind
In game economy does not give rise to P2W (purple modules only marginally better than blue or green, gs ships generally --coughcoughsparkcoughcough-- no better than credit ships)
Farming Invasion with a $10 spatial scanner is no longer an option to reduce economic grind
I fail to see any link between 2 and 3 except for the possibility that the devs want players to shell out more than $10 to reduce grind.
muh shekels
Is there any way to get the spatial scanner without spending cash, or is it one of those p2w items?
I have about 90 hours total playtime and have been flying Invasion 99% of the time (as a Federation Engineer), but still haven’t found any secret documents.
The best loot I ever found was some lost cargo scrap worth more than 1 million creds a piece, but that was only a couple times.

No, it is gold only. But it is not pay to win. It doesn’t give you any advantage on the battlefield (in fact, it takes one of your CPU) But it is a nice tool for invasion farming.
the afk engineers were usually trying to get achievements or karma. afk farming does not really give u millions of credits, because the mobs you can farm with that easily, dropped very little, and loot also despawns, which makes afk farming pretty hard.
Anyway in all cases, if you encounter people going through big lenghts, to cheat your system, by seeking out the spots with greatest revenue and camping it, basicly it usually is also a hint, that players do not feel rewarded doing the other stuff; it is not just an indication, that people are “abusing”.
so I really doubt, there was any kind of problem with that which was avoided.
It seems to me, that this balance was again made with wrong ideas in mind. The game is already too grindy, and most of the input which says otherwise, comes from people who do not feel the grind anymore, because they have stuffed out accounts from the beta or payed enough to make it endurable. Me included.
This is the problem of this game in terms of retention. This always WAS the problem.
It is simply too far fetched to let you grind like in an MMO, if it is actually an arcade MMO shooter and not a MMORPG sandbox.
The goal of the game should not be to stay as long as you get all ships, instead, late game content should give you the feel that the game just started once you finished the item- and shipgrind.
Anyway, I personally do not want to be forced into invasion, and I dislike the fact you actually have to go there for unlocking PvP content. without any trade, that makes no sense. Now if there would be trade, it would make sense (having PvE lategame stuff in PvP and PvP-lategame stuff in PvE usually is a trick to make trade useful).
This is a polarized discussion yet again, with some defending the move, saying “deal with it”, and others however completely crying out of proportions.
A polarized discussion might be interesting to get good points from the parties, but ultimately, once you are in a polarized discussion, you have to admit, at least to yourself, that you do not have an opinion anymore, you are defending one; therefore you will also not listen to reason, because every reason is just another blueprint for a response of your own; Nobody goes happily into a discussion to be proven wrong. It is important to have polarized discussions, but in the end, neither side will own the truth.
We do have to admit, invasion was far easier to farm, than playing other gamestyles, to get credits, etc., so for many of us, the nerfs are not really a surprise. Still, “balancing it to the rest of the game” was actually the wrong move. Instead, the “rest of the game” should have been made as rewarding, as Invasion was.
For me, even searching half an hour to get anything useful in that game mode is half an hour wasted time. I like to fly around and pew pew.
If Invasion loot is worthless junk, people will not use it anymore after a while, population will decline over time. Part of invasion should be piracy, and it should not feel like work. It was barely a thing until now, and it will stay this way, if it is a complete waste of time to fly around in those sectors, searching for fuel.
The flipside is, these things get adjusted every now and then, and sometimes they also make the mistake of giving too much away. I bet we do not complain there. In the end, after a lot of nerfs, there is always the hope for a new buff.
Albeit I myself was always a critic to the heavy mistakes, which sometimes came along with the game, and cries for “they say that in first class game design not to do this, why do you do this?”, I am never really giving up hope, because sometimes they just get it dead right, and sometimes, they do know more than we do, simply because they have the numbers and the database, and see problems, we do not see, as players.
Ultimately I accept that.
You are still arguing about this game being grindy, but I still fail to see how is that possible a problem for player retention, when there are games out there with much more grind (warframe, warthunder, world of tanks…) and they have a lot of players.
The main problem in this game is that not everyone likes space combat, and the intricate mechanics which make this game so awesome for most of us.
Most people just want to drive a tank, point the gun, and make things go boom. Different weapon damages, tanking, numbers, adaptives, actives and passive modifiers… That is too much for them. And when they reach tier 3 and have to learn all those numbers and combinations, or die to veterans who know how to build a proper ship… well, they leave for the next flavour of the month.
The option is dumbing down everything so people can just point at things and kill them.
Na, thats not true. The grind is really bad. I started in Beta and then it was not so bad. U need at least for fully purple ships specialized on certain game modes to keep up with good players in T5 and SQ/Dreads. That means an aweful lot of grind. Now u see u will not find these ships immediatelly so u make mistake, purple a ship that is not so good for u and u have to start all over again. Happened to me when i realized i cant fly fed but emp gunships.
The grind is fun thats not da problem, the problem is more that so many players are already done with it, and that it was so much easier before. Just imagine being a Ace fresh in da game and wanting to play cometetive with da dreads, THE icon of SC atm. Forget it. Just forget it.

Just imagine being a n0ob fresh in world of tanks and wanting to play competitive with the clanwars on World of tanks at the moment. Forget it, just forget it.
PS: I have 9000 games in World of tanks, I have very good ratigs, and still, Clan wars is ***** hard.
It is end content, it should be hard.
It should be hard but not take 6 month to reach. The new season is called dreadnaughts, so i think it should be possible to actually fly with the dreadnaughts within some weeks after starting da game.
Alas i think its already implemented. If u just buy a premium u actually have what i want. U can buy licence and get vouchers rather fast so it wil lbe purple soon.

But that is how free to play games work. If you have time, you play for free. If you are impatient or don’t have that much time, you can subscribe.
I spent the first 4 months on this game playing for free, testing stuff and watching if I could invest time on this game or it wasn’t worth it. Then I bought one of the small DLCs on Christmas sales, and got a pair of license months. But the only difference about playing for free is that you will need more hours to reach the same point.
And that is not bad, it is how this game works. They need to pay the rent you know…

That is all good and that, but the problem is when you buy something to help ease the grind then they make a change and the free options are more viable there is something wrong.
