Spatial Scanner is worth its price! (50% sale only)

About Spatial Scanner.

Well, it’s worth the price, but only, when there is a sale, when you can get it 50% cheaper for the Tier V (rank 13-15)!

3000 GS , or nearly 10 EUR is a fair price, if you get it on sale.

I agree that it could actually be a lot better for 6000 GS, for its full price, if developers would make some additional adjustments, just to justify it.

I have already written a thread about Spatial Scanner on how to improve its functions.

With those expanded functionalities it could become an invaluable tool in Open Space.

There is also an old thread, which suggests, how to make it available for free, but for a hefty resource cost.

With this in mind, I want action and not just some promises.

“We will think about it.” is not enough!

Do something, or deny it from the start!

Remember, the Collective is watching you!

Anyway, if you get it and if you know the loot spots, it is quite easy, provided that you use a Tier V (rank 15) Tackler ship.

Loot content: (Light Cells and a blueprint I got, thanks to the Tier V Spatial Scanner only)

4x “Light Cell” (1006320 credits)

“Alien Blueprint” (15000 Vanguard loyalty vouchers)

“Alien Neurotransmitter” (150 Iridium units)

“Rank 13-15 (Tier V) Mark V Phaser blueprint schematic”

What are your thoughts on Spatial Scanner in general?

Regards,

Koromac

Suggestions are there to give ideas and whishes from players not tasks. We will consider all usefull suggestions, but there won’t be promises.

Yes, exactly. That’s why I also added a vote poll.

It clearly shows that it is very desirable and thus, necessary.

Koromac, I see your point but the screenshot is misleading.

I am frequently going on mysterious containers looting tour with scanner and 13/15 cruise-tackler. I got the feeling that light cells are getting less and less frequent to find with every update. I used to find at least one light cell per half an hour before SC v1.2. Now I find about one light cell in two hours. The screenshot you posted is an absolute rarity and not a regular result of an open space tour. There are sectors where you make more money collecting Blackwood and Cargo Containers (+ cargo drone delivery).

Second, the common spots for containers are changed with every update. So you have some weeks, where you can find the spots, remember them, write them down or take map screenshots or whatever and then regularly fly there and collect. But after the next update you can start again searching for these spots. This is annoying, meaning no fun playing. And I only play to have fun.

And more important: with the two points above reducing the loot value, you don’t make much more money than flying PvE or PvP - but without all the fun of having real fights meanwhile. Sometimes I enjoy Open Space with it’s calmity, just collecting loot and relax. But not more than an hour/day, then it gets boring.

So the spatial scanner makes sense for a certain play style. But for non-powerplayers it just doesn’t pay out. Its use for making credits in open space is just too time consuming.

Loot buff needed!

We both agree that the loot needs to be more diverse and more valuable.

About the screenshot. It does not represent, which it was taken before I started this thread, it does not represent usually loot value, which it is in fact, extremely rare.

I memorised all the loot spots, so I can find them in every sector in less than one, or half a minute. Each sector visited by me, get scouted and I always take the loot.

If I don’t need it, I drop it, or give it to someone. Right now I have 3 T5 blueprints, so it might be a matter of luck, or just pure coincidence.

With summer sale and increased safe sectors space I bit the bullet and purchased the scanner. It is exactly what I’ve expected: new type of gameplay (treasure hunting) yet ~0 berillium drops for destroyers. A lot of L11-15 purple-orange blueprints drops, some 100k-1M credit prizes, some building components.

So if you want treasure hunting gameplay - scanner on a tackler is really nice (much better than treasure hunting mechanics in other spaceship games), if you want big ships combat gameplay - scanner won’t help much.

Scanner is good on sale ;p I got another for my destroyer but picking up the container with the destroyer is annoying as it is so big and you have to get within 150m to activate the container.

does the rank of the spacial scanner matter ? i mean i’m using a r10 sps and in 2 hours i’ll only find voucher a few blueprint i’ve never find any light cell or other expensive and rare loot like a r15 blueprint  so i’m kinda curious if the scaner rank will actualy change the loot ?

No, it doesn’t. Rank is only for fitting it on a particular ship.
