Some modules are rather bad

I think some modules are bad and also nobody uses them.

 

Most useless one is IMO the shield overcharge of the gunship. It is suppose to deal damage to nearby enemy ships, yet the damage is IMO just too low to make the module useful. I have seen it in use very very rarely. Just increase the damage.

 

Next one is the Spectre field of the guards. I suppose it could be useful in a team yet i dont see it used much. Perhaps nobody has discoverd a good use so far, i dont know. I think it should be changed so that it can be of use in a random group.

 

Also the self destruct on the Covert Ops. It might be useful in Captain games, or when u use it close before dying. But still the other CovOps modules seem to be just better. Just increase damage a little as well.

 

So i might be wrong, perhaps there are ways to use them i dont know…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You got some good points.

 

Particle purge is good if you’re fighting against an interceptor and want to finish them off with a little damage. It pairs well with a pocket engi, and with a shield booster. It doesn’t do much against frigates, but hey. It’s the only auto-aim thing that gunships have.

 

Spectre field is a really good module. Problem is that it’s only available in T4 and T5. Best usage is to protect key teammates (usually engi) from being swarmed. It’s also possible to use it to push against another team while invisible, making it hard to counter the push. Unfortunately, both of these uses require some serious teamwork, and the randoms that use it tend to pop it right out of spawn, leaving me with only half my shields left by the time I get to the first beacon…

 

Self destruct is trash. It’s got longer cooldown than a full missile cartridge, and less damage. Also, it kills you. Never really knew why it was a default loadout module.

The only time I’ve found Self-Destruct on cov-ops to be even remotely viable is to have the module equipped on multiple cov-op ships. That way if you SD on one, you just cycle on to your next ship and SD that one whenever, and so on. With a full roster of 4 cov-op ships, hopefully by the time you SD’d your fourth ship, the first is about off cooldown.

particle purge is very strong vs fighters + intys, spectre field is very good in competitive 8-12 man wings

Only thing I could honk of to make it actually useful in PvP is have it scale with volume *and* resistance, so that you can still get those good resistance builds with good shield refill rate, but still be able to do decent damage with this module. The fact that it completely drains all shields in use balances everything that could possibly make it stronger.

Oh, particle purge in captured dreadnought is great. You don’t even have a cooldown on your modules any more, if you use it. All of them are just permanently available.

The only time I die to self-destruct, is when I play without the sound on or with my music too loud

^^ Sounds more like a “die to nuke” rather than self destruct…sound doesn’t determine if you will dodge a self-destruct cov ops unless you fly back into the radiation cloud with 200 hull, but that is visual…

Oops! For my defense it was rather late wgen I wrote that :stuck_out_tongue: So yeah that applies to nukes. I die to self-destruct every bow and then also. But mostly I’m just suprised when I get a kill on some guy in a cov ops that I’m not firing on anymore.
