So Destroyers

Personally I like them, I like being on a Russian server and being on an even playing field. It would seem in my opinion that they solve a ton of problems, say for instance a squad of 8 with good internet, close to a server fights a team of 8 players spread world wide, who is gonna win, before destroyers it would be the team in the same area close to the server why the can use small ships in swarming tactics and react faster do to there advantage in ping. Now with destroyers its the best tactical position, team compisition,and focused fire that wins.

Server load, I feel that destroyers place less of a load on the servers because they a slow and big, less movement means less load on the server but I my be wrong.

So it is expansion of the game you want, this allows the devs, to use the server space more efficiently thus more room for players.

For all of you small ship lovers they still work to, An ecm or a kite can wreck a destroyer

Adapt or die, but one way or another put on your big boy pants and quit crying no amount of tears will make destroyers go away

Right. Adapting is not the problem my friend. It is the fact that it isnt enjoyable. There is no reason to fly a cov Ops. Nobody will dogfight, everybody is busy killing as many destros as possible until the timer runs out and that timer runs out super fast. 

I’d much rather sit on the edge of the map with another cov ops and circle the xxxx out of each other, it might not win me the game but at least i have fun. Unfortunatly this phenomenon has died out.

So what? I should adapt? Really? So i should turn down my expectations of a good game, so i can enojoy it again?

You still assume that everybody who hates destros in their current form, have enormous problems killing them bla bla. Its not about that. Its about the fact that it takes too much time, that all the other facettes this game had to offer are now history. You can’t blame people for having a taste in games and not change it on a dime.

I am too old to have reaction times of 18 year old, my computer is too bad and my connection also, so flying CovOps whre spitsecond flying and accurate shooting is necc is bad for me.

 

With destroyers its more strategic n tactical thinking and less “shooter”. I like that. Destroyers actually brought me back. Now i can actually do something instead of dying before i even realise what attacked me.  

 

I hate em CovOps cuz they are really a ship u just need reactin time and aiming for. Just cloak attack suddenly run away cloak again. Gunship+engie combo is much more dangerous but its ok for me since to use it u must use teamwork and focus fire.

 

Destros are super neat and should actually even made more CovOps proof.

You are not the only “older” player in this game. There are many like you and i have learned to see how important older players are for a healthy community.

I just want you to know that, flying a cov ops might be more reliant on maneuvering, evading and aiming, it is also far more stressfull to play even when you are young. You wear out faster and you will make many mistakes in the process. And it will get you killed a lot.

It goes that far that i even ate my dinner while flying a destroyer in pvp…

So making destros more covert ops proof would actually remove the last reason why i shouldnt fly a destro while eating, cleaning the apartment or rolling a joint.

 

BTW nothing wrong with flying slower ships. In a teamplay scenario all ships are useful. (depending on the current balance ofc)

Strong engi pilots are still assets, a good lrf is still a blessing in dreads and guards also shine, as long as there is no destro around.

Everyone of those “covops pilots” played every other ship class nearly as much or even more, so they have spent countless hour of learning how to counter. There is not a single pilot nowadays who can rely on purely flyin covert ops.

You’re not the only one. I’m even watching youtube on the other screen or reading forums or whatever.

 

 

Everyone of those “covops pilots” played every other ship class nearly as much or even more, so they have spent countless hour of learning how to counter. There is not a single pilot nowadays who can rely on purely flyin covert ops.

Or completely abandoned COs as their main ship even after being qualified as topguns on them. Chicken tacklers FTW! (not)

Aren’t the potato toasters the problem in russia? I heard a lot of hardware pieces, which aren’t anymore included in europa/north america for 20 years, from another developer coming from near russia. So hearing that ‘destroyer’ solve such a problem sound for me strange. Ô.o

No, a game engine doesn’t work like that.

 

To be honest, what bothers me most about destroyers is that they are locked behind a ‘grindwall’. If they were available to buy for credits - it would be much fairer to the players who can’t be online everyday and spend hours in open space scanning rocks.

 

Saying that, I’ve no interest in flying a destroyer. I’m very much in agreement with OregyenDuero. I love star conflict because it still is the best dogfighting space shooter I’ve ever played.

 

If the devs choose to move away from twitch style play then so be it, maybe it will increase the player population but I’m sceptical.

 

I do think it’s very telling how many dedicated players have chosen to move away from star conflict because of questionable implementation/removal of game features over the years.

 

If smashing casuals in an aimbot brick (that they will never get to own) is your thing then more power to you.

 

But I can understand the discontent of players who have spent hundreds, even thousands, of hours honing their skills and adjusting to endless balancing tweaks, only to have a game they love thrown towards people who couldn’t be bothered to do so.

The bad thing about “randoms” it’s that they go away as fast as they join. Check the steam charts, I know that a lot of people in this game don’t use steam. Still those charts are a good “sample” of real numbers we have.

Steams player base is with about 800 players average highest ever except the beginning. Not even dreads brought in such huge amount of players.
