Ship part drop rate thread!

Since I’m incredibly curious about the drop rate of ship parts, I’m making a thread about it. If you would like to help me find out what the real drop rate is, make a list including how many ships of that rank you had fit out, which ship you’re getting parts for, parts gotten per win (in chronological order!), AS WELL AS if it was PvP or PvE (or even co-op), like so:

(4x) Brokk: 1p,1p,1p,0p,0p,0p,0e,1e,0e,0e,0e,0e

4 parts, 12 wins. Not terrible! But this is a rather small sample size. Let’s figure out what the real drop rate is and stop complaining without proof!

(also maybe include losses in there. I’d suggest putting them in as a dash. I didn’t keep track of those while playing today, so this post remains the same.)
(obviously I don’t care too much if you don’t record literally everything, but the more data, the better!)

Data thus far: (session parts / wins), (different session parts / wins) [links point to post the data is pulled from]

Out of date:

Archelon:
(1x)
(2x)
(3x)
(4x)

Stingray:
(1x)
(2x)
(3x) (4 / 4)
(4x)

Brokk:
(1x)
(2x)
(3x)
(4x) (4 / 12), (6 / 8), (9 / 41), (7 / 43), (7 / 10), (8 / 10), (7 / 10), (7 / 8), (7 / 11), (7 / 11), (7 /25), (3 / 9),

If you want to be more specific - do it per loot slot as well. Or at least say how many loot chances you had per win.  Also you would have to count which game was it in the game day, not only which win. I’ll get you my data as soon as I’ll get back home.

As promised:

21211010 8  and then 21 battles later one more part total - 9

12111100 7

21111100 7

21111011 8

11211100 7

12111010 7

Total - 45 parts, 7 loots spots, first games of the day, 4xR13 (Brokk parts) only.

In first two days I was doing over 40 battles, just to see how often do they drop. Then I switched to making 10 games in a row, now I’m too lazy to bother with more than 8. Hope it helps

EDIT: I think I created some confusion with my data. I cut the trailing zeros. In full it should look like:

21211010 8  and then 21 battles later one more part total - 9 and then twelve battles more without part so it  would be 2121101 (22x0) 1 (12x0) for total of 9 parts from 41 battles

121111 (37x0) 7 from 43

2111110000  7 from 10

2111101100  8 from 10

1121110000 7 from  10

12111010 7 from 8

(new one:)

12110100100 7 from 11

22101000100 7 from 11

I have 7 loot attempts per win.

Hmmm… There is no stats for this Statue, it’s all about luck.

Were you searching for brokk pieces? Because today I played 4 fire supports (4 loot chances) and got 4 stingray pieces. I’m at 40  :fed001: .

Also you must keep in mind the number of maxed ships of that rank you have in slots. More ships in slots = higher drop rate.

I have four maxed R13’s equipped and out of 8 wins yesterday I got 6 parts. So the drop rate seems to increase greatly with more ships. Now if only I had a fifth slot. XD

I have 3 when I farm for stingray, and I get around 90% chance of drops each game.

OT: Yay, this is my 300th post!.

Alright, OP edited to make things a bit more specific. I’m not so sure about loot slot (bit much, there, perhaps?), and I hadn’t kept track of losses. I’m going to treat this like it’s a flat loot chance until proven otherwise, so the “data” section doesn’t have order included, although I’m sure posts in this thread will.

21211010 8  and then 21 battles later one more part total - 9 I had something like this yesterday with neodium… don’t have exact number of games but I got 7 neodiums in first 12 PVP wins, then a 20+ game nothing… then 1 more… in 5 Fire support R13 I got 1 brokk part.

I’ll get the exact numbers today for brokk parts

Statue here is a spreadsheet for my first 20 games. Hope it helps.

Hmmm… There is no stats for this Statue, it’s all about luck.

Its all about statistics: probability (which you can understand in easier words as luck, but dont confuse it with randomness).

Yo statue, make a list between PVP, coop and PVE (i bet there are different chances), also including the number of loot atemtps.

Hows about I compile a table of total data and just tell people to list if it’s PvP or PvE?

O.K. I’ll do it…

i made a screenie of my excel table, it is a bit better the what I had in sheets: 25 games in R13, stats for 20 games, last 5 had no luck.

EDIT: It was more or less like this since they introduced neodium, berri, monos… but there were days without any Monos.

Actually I’ve been getting lots more monos in PvE/PvP now. I think I average at about 2-3 per day from just playing those modes, not even doing the now-pointless OS missions.

And how many maxed ships of rank are you carrying in those battles? That contributes to the drop rate.

(4x) Brokk: 1e, 0p, 0p, 1p, 0p, -, -, 0p, 0p, 0e, 1e

that’ll do it. But for more accurate results, number of attempts should be informed as well (like: “(x4) brokk: 1/5e, 0/6e, 2/6e, 1/4p, etc”). Then you sort by game mode, number of parts/number of attempts–> drop %

I done that, look at that pic there. With drop per game & per loot.

TheAnoyingRedFox made a post about this. Just ignore him.

Alright, we now have 170 PvP wins with 4x rank 13 ships for a sample size! Using spreadsheet magic, I have found that:

If chance per game is constant:

Average ship parts per win is ~.38

Standard deviation is ~.58

If we only take the data Niripas has so kindly volunteered, we get:

Average ship parts per win is ~.39

Standard deviation is ~.60

Note that the probability of getting at least one ship part is a function of the probability of getting a ship part in any one loot spot and number of loot chances. Namely, p(at least one part for this win) = (1 - [1  - p(part from this spot)] ^ (number of loot chances) )

As such, the chance of a part per spot is constant if and only if the chance of at least one part per game is constant (given number of loot chances is constant), too. Yes, that relationship is correct due to the incredible properties of the logical relationship known as “if and only if”.

So, examining just Niripas’s data, we have 44 games of at least one part / 136 games total gives ~.32 chance to get at least one per game.

Thus, if chance of getting one part per game is constant, the chance of getting 37 games in a row with no loot is (1 - .32) ^ 37 ~= 6.4 * 10 ^ (-7), a little worse than one in a million. Pretty close to two in three million, actually.

The chance of getting 22 games in a row with no loot is ~1.8 * 10 ^ (-5), which is pretty close to 19 in a million.

So I think we can conclude that chance of getting loot does, in fact, drop off with more play. Pretty severely, too, as far as I can tell. Next stop: Finding out how it drops off!
