Currently in the game there are 3 classes of ship, Interceptors, Fighters and Frigates, and the current look going from the game lacks one class, the Corvette.
In terms, a Corvette is a Military vessel, being larger than a Fighter but smaller than a Frigate and in game would be exactly that, being well armed like a frigate and using the speed of a Fighter and filling the role between these ship classes, however they aren’t as Agile as a Fighter or as armored as a Frigate, giving them both a egde and a weakness against other ship classes.
I think this would be an interesting class of vessel to add and giving some more strategic and tactical options for the player.
Edit - Found the right section now, oops, couldn’t before :fed014:
Also they’re pretty big though, ships like the T1 and T2 lines could be called Corvettes because of their smaller size compared to T3 and above if they didn’t have the problems of such tiers (lack of implants and modules) making them far from fast and agile.
Yeah, but in the game we already have a lot of overlap in the higher tiers - Frig-Fighters and in between with various builds, so “corvettes role” is pretty much covered by current mechanics. So, currently i am against a new whole class, i’de rather see more ships with unique utility bonuses added instead.
in my opinion the so called firgates here really are corvettes in any other game. A frigate is a bigger capitol ship, more like a cruiser. Its not fast and wont be flying between layers of buildings like these do, but would have larger guns and more turrets for defense and offense,so everything we see now, to me, is a corvette, and in other games they come with up to 4 turrets for fighter defense, but not here, its all up front, so assault corvettes then.but they definately need one turret for real defense and missile defense, but doubt that’ll happen either…lol
hmm didnt know that James but then I would need to be 40 years younger and have decent hand/eye coordination to do it…not happening…hehehe. an auto turret in the rear would save my butt many times, if not that then I’ll stick to engineers that ahve helpful little drones.
