You know how when you start the game, by default there is an opening trailer? Around the last part of it, a frigate/guard comes out, looks like the Crus Q T2 Premium Guard. The cutscene said “Full power to the front shields” and I was thinking… maybe have this a reality in the game? You can set the power to your front/back/left/right/equal of your shields, so one side is stronger and the other’s are weaker.
Good idea?
We already have that - PvE mobs and destroyers
I asked about this before, they said it doesn’t exist. Not sure if they will make it exist or not. I liked it in the trailer though.
I’d love to be able to control shields too, but it simply wouldn’t work with the fast pace of the game. You’d just be swapping shields around your ship every quarter second while dogfighting.
I’d say a module that makes the energy focuses the shield only on the front. This game doesn’t have mechanics like those tanks games where the armor is “front/sides/rear”. So instead, a module that is kinda the same as F modules for Command ships, but only makes the Guard ship shield more stronger on the front, and consumes energy as it’s being hit. (maybe not consume energy, but the module needs a lot of energy to be used, and has lots of hitpoints, and takes let’s say 3 minutes to reload?)

This is a suggestion that suck in itself.
Turtles have already a ‘shield’ in its front direction.
Destroyer can deploy a ‘shield’ in the wished position.
To have something you wish implemented, you would need to split the shield areas in multiple ones.
A game of mechs have this(okay as body parts where you can damage/destroy them seperatly to each other).
But here in this game, you have due mobility/numbers huge balance issues with such an attempt.
You would need 6(!) shield parts(with each shield generator for real and maybe a 7th main shield generator to combine it to the ‘wished’ direction) to reflect such an idea. Sounds not much, but with bad implemented shield we currently have(just three words: bypassing destroyer’s shield) it’s for me a no-go.
Second how you will handle AoE weapons? Because of their nature, they would ignore the best part and splash you through the lowest amount of shield rendering such a suggestion again useless.
So NO to this suggestion.

But to AoE weapons, let them damage you why not. Not everyone is using splash damage, and not everyone likes them. This suggestion isn’t meant to be “anti-splash weapons”

Right I haven’t really read through yours. Doesn’t change the fact of OP’s want as you simply suggest the same just with added drawbacks.
AoE weapons are already strong. They don’t need even a bigger buff.
