I suggest that Semi-Active Homing Missiles should be added to the game. The missiles should have higher damage than the fully guided missiles, in a middle-ground between the unguided missiles and the guided missiles.
You would need to have a line of sight to the target for it to lock on. If your line of sight is blocked by an obstacle, when you fire the missile, it will dumbfire with no lock, or if you fired it already, the missile would no longer home. (Similar to the target painter, weapon inhibitor ect)
I suggest that this is the fighter class’s gimmick or trick, as interceptors have unguided missiles and frigates have mine-fields.
I really have no idea where to place this topic. I know its in suggestions somewhere, but in balance suggestions? No idea.
Can I just have a super weak missile, with lots of charges, with lots of range and can change targets?
Oh wait… Isn’t that the JLRF special?

That’s a little odd, honestly. Usually, your missile’s gonna miss if you fire when your target is behind an obstacle. The only real considerable exception is the cruise missile, where the person might move out from cover before it manages to hit. Pretty much every other missile has higher speed and lower range. I’m not seeing any good reason to add these, unfortunately.
Also, every missile can be dumb-fired. Just not have a target locked and the missile will go where your cursor is aimed.

That, too. The difference between unguided and guided missiles on dumb-firing is that guided missiles always come out from the bottom of the ship. That honestly shouldn’t affect anything that much, though.
