I just switched from FRAPS (which has suddenly rendered all of my files un-openable to my editor) to Open Broadcast Software, which is a bit more hands on to set up, but works quite nicely. I noticed something very strange. I usually hit 30fps, but i am hitting nearly 60fps when i run the recorder up. I am unsure why this is happening, whether my GPU is in maximum overdrive or whether this is a bug
The great thing about OBS is it’s customizable and open-sourced.
If HQ audio isn’t that important tone down the audio encoding settings (32bitrate and mono). I’m at school right now. wait until i get it downloaded then i’ll give you some decent/low obs settings. Then just work your way up until you got a decent balance.
it hangs a tiny tiny bit, barely noticable, i’ll probably set it to record onto an external drive and see if it’s memory related, the fps is true fps and confirmed by fraps FPS counter, and i praise it because it must be kicking my GPU up a notch or taking advantage of the full power the processor can deliver (4x 3.47GHz OC at full power, conflict runs when CPU is idle at 1.17 so there’s plenty to spare)
select custom buffer size and change the field below it to 6000
Audio encoding:
codec is AAC
bitrate 48
channel mono
Broadcast settings:
mode should be to file output only. it helps encoding if the file out put is in a different drive. get a flash drive and record everything there.
video tab:
downscale it so you can at least get 720HD for youtube. change fps to 15-30 depending on the strength of your system. disable aero.
Advanced settings: in the video x264 CPU present keep it on very fast but change it to super if you got a bad system or faster if you got a good system.
finally just adjust your settings till you got a good balance of quality and performance.
I use bandicam… It’s free and with my 5-6 year old gpus, i get 45 fps while recording. I also record at 30 fps but most of my vids are 2x speed so all I really need is 20 fps recording speed.

i’m keeping my audio at 128, my recordings are at screenres anyway which is in the aspect ratio for 720 and 1080, it records 720 as the height is just above 750
very fast is working for me atm
I followed the advice on the video settings
I have a 2TB USB3 external that i’m going to switch over to using
bandicam is limited to 10 minute recordings and you get the advertising on the top. when you upload to youtube there is a set amount of FPS. You can’t go over it. 30 I think. getting an FPS over 30 when recording doesn’t make a difference. so bandicam sucks.

idc. most of our games are less than 10 minutes. it’s very rare that a game goes over 10 minutes.
Dxtory for recording is the best software out there, I tried them all and this one is the one less impact on your gameplay. Combined with Xsplit broadcaster to stream over Twitch. Both very efficient software.
Dxtory has a free version but Xsplit broadcaster is a paid software. I paid for both software as they arent really expensive and are really worth your hard earned $$$ :fed001:

I wish xsplit wasn’t so expensive. I also wish my computer could consistently record or stream with more than 20 fps, but that darned tube map goes down to like 15 fps if I record.
