Rework the AMS module

Right now, the AMS is a pretty bad module, it has a huge cooldown and protects for a small duration. Yes, it intercepts a ton of missiles, but it provides no cover against guided torpedoes. It shoots down the first, but the second and third and fourth will find the guard (or whoever it protected).

 

My  suggestion would be that it shouldn’t have a duration, but a toggle, like the Aegis. It would solve the issue of its moderate uselessness. Now that would make it OP, right? Yes, it would, so you could say that the Guard has to be still (relative to the environment, as there is no absolute movement obviously) for it to work, or reserve 60% max capacitor (so using AB or other modules becomes a problem). Probably a bigger cooldown on it would be nice, so you are punished if you break it.

 

But right now i don’t really feel the impact of AMS, and I say this from an LRF, not a Guard PoV.

It was a toggle module, but with a recharge time of 10 seconds. Now you have a 10 seconds of use where you can intercept almost anything, but a window where you can’t.

 

Now it needs some skill, before that it was just an I win button.

 

I really miss the permanent missile shield and engine suppressor, but because they were just OP.

There are many of them because:

A) Guards don’t fit AMS (actually, I rarely see pilots fit anything other than Survival mods, nowadays, which is depressing).

B) People don’t fit Flares.

 

I rarely see AMS being fitted onto any Guard because they’ll favour the usual 4 mods: Derpsar, Propulsion Inhibitor, Shield Resist booster (keep forgetting the damned name) and Emergency Shield Booster. Very rarely will I see a Guard use their brains effectively and the ones I do see are those found in extremely organized groups (ie, yesterday, Rakza and me on the Crus-S’).

 

As for Flares… It’s become useless considering ALL the missile spam everywhere. Its cooldown nerf (despite needed, at the time) was a bit too much, imo…

Between LRF/aoe damage spam and no engineers with active heals if you fly solo there’s hardly anything else you can fit if you want to be effective. In the old days I used to constantly backspace heal but these days you’d be feeding the enemy team points doing that so it’s no option anymore.

Yeah. I mean, in groups, the usual setup is to use every Guard utility mods except the heals. I know Rakza wasn’t using his Signature Masking cause I was getting all the debuff kills on that match…

I was using it, and I got the point for them xD but I pewpewed so many things that I earned more Efficiency for Dammages than assistances

Oh, you were? Strange. But yeah I just went all out with damage, as well. I must’ve gotten, like, 2-3 kills, all from Pulsar alone.

Missile spam’s the problem.  The cooldown on flares and AMS compared to the recharge on missiles makes the modules less useful.  You’re better off with a regen module than flares.

Absolutely not. The game is 1000x more entertaining now that missiles are spamable.
