Rework/Improve Collision system and add features and sound effects!

Future updates of Star Conflict should have next visual and sound improvements, as well as improved or reworked collision/impact damage system. In my opinion, it is currently broken.

 

First, sound effects:

Add some great sound effects in general, related to collision types.

Depending on the situation, sound effects and visuals should vary.

I am talking about graphical or visual immersion, as well as sound immersion.

  • ship grazing the surface of an asteroid (sparks visible)

  • ship grazing the rocks (rock debris falling or chipping off)

  • ship grazing the metal objects (squeaky sounds with sparks)

  • ship colliding with another ship (specific sound, indicating such collision)

etc.

Remember, every spaceship is a piece of metal.

Direct collisions on certain surfaces, or just grazing, etc., such sound effects should vary, depending on the event.

I would ask you, to re-examine current mechanics of collision system.

I find it ridiculous, that I actually impact my Tackler against a rock at 700 m/s and receive pitiful or absurdly small amounts of damage.

It’s unrealistic and broken.

Make collisions more drastic or punishing, at least for bigger ships! If possible, ship should not only explode, but sometime fall apart, if game engine allows it. Delayed detonation would also be nice. Maybe if the ship is being hit by a missile, it should instantly explode, otherwise, if it’s targeted by a low damage weapon, it should periodically be destroyed.

For example, Jaguar could lose its engine and explode 1-2 seconds later. Destroyer doesn’t need to explode instantly. 

When it does, the explosion blast should actually travel outwards, from the center and damage non-shielded ships, etc.

Well,the damage depends on the angle of collision,but some extra effects would still be great.

Extra and better effects: awesome. Extra system requirements: not cool. Extra dev work: not my business.

About the dmg by collission…i would say its quite erratic, sometimes you get your ship barely damaged (from a 90º crash), sometimes your ship will almost blow up from a similar crash (same ship). And the instant death from any contact when going at 701ms or more is not cool (specially with station protection).

Speaking of which,if you microwarp into a wall and die in a area with station protection you cannot return to your dock…

Sorry thunder, but the current system is a fail in itself. I barely scratch(yeah scratching) a surface with a frigate and get over 3k+ damage while with a tackler ~700m/s direct impact at ~90° against gates hardly 2k damage from it.
To the sounds: Eh Koromac: The 9c Implant avoid direct impacts due shield shielding it from the hull. So no contact of the ship and the material. What’s your suggestion for that case?

Just restart the game,pay for the ammo and repairs and thats it.

Simple. Different sound effects and visuals, when it happens.

This game can run on a potato! It’s time to upgrade, or lower your settings. 5-6 years old computer can still have 60-100 FPS on average.

This game is old and it doesn’t need to look even older, if it can get visually improved.

About the collision: Yes, I know. I can receive a lot of damage from colliding just a bit with my Frigate, when I ram directly into some rock or metal surface at 700m/s, my Tackler will receive like 20 times less damage… Broken as hell.

My pc cant always run at 60 fps even with all at minimum (AMD Athlon II X2 250, nvidia gt440 and 4gb ram)…game looks quite nice imo.

About visual improvements, there’ll be some in time. But we don’t have in nearest plans to improve sound design, its pretty decent as it is now)

Sounds and effects of impacts from collisions is just not varied enough. Existing content is below average in terms of quality and diversity of those effects. Add it in to-do list in 2016. xD

I’d like it better is collisions used the ship’s shape as a factor instead of just considering every ship as “round”. Like the Reaper and Sai should be the #1 ships for ramming damage, but for whatever reason, they deal pitiful amounts of damage.
