Hi!
Sometime ago, the singularity cannon was nerfed and now it has 50% critical damage instead of the usual 75% for plasma weapons. This was made because of the power of the gunships with the singularity build.
But after that, the gunships were nerfed hard with the overdrive time, with a reduction of 33% in the overdrive duration.
Now, singularities are below average, and useless in the other two fighters (commands and tacklers) because of the first nerf.
The overdrive is OK as it is, but the singularity cannon should have the same critical damage that all the other plasma weapons.
This is my suggestion.
Commands and tacklers don’t do majority of the dmg via cit, so if anything that particular nerf hardly have any effect on them.
PS. Don’t forget that overdrive got its CD reduced as well so some see it as nerf others use it as a buff.
I can confirm one thing. Singularity use was pretty much replaced by Assault Railguns or Ion Emitter. This tells me a lot about the current state of the weapon.
I still find it usable, but it’s lost it’s touch.
Still best weapon for fed gunships.
The amount of times a wolf has snuck up on me and pummelled my guard with the singularity… *shudders*

Really? Have you seen Tillowaty or Yeahalex’s playstyle lately? They are still murdering people with that weapon.
If you’re going for high criticals, you go with AR. If you’re more concerned about accuracy, you go with IE.
Singularity is still the most deadly weapon because it has the largest impact radius, can pass through beacons, and doesn’t follow the EM mantra of ‘weak against hull, strong against shield’. It’s pretty much ‘strong against everything’. Not to mention its super slow projectile speed (which is supposed to be a weakness) can easily be buffed. It’s pretty much the closest thing in the game to a biomorph laser.
So I would disagree that this weapon needs a whopping 75% critical damage bonus. 50% is still really strong.
Well with that nerfs to overdrive and crit dmg bubble gunship cannot kill guard :fed015:
bubbles are still pretty good. burst damage nerfed from overdrive change but thats about it. most of the time in my wolf m i don’t overdrive unless i come up against some tanked up styx or some pro player. tend to leave guards alone since bubbles hit 1500 per hit with phase shield set to em
I was using the Singularity, but it was a little bit to weak for me, now i’m using the Ion Emitter and i’m melting everything with the huge damage (Pulse Discharger + Curved Reflector) on my Nukem.
Well, singularity is still the best dogfighting weapon for a fighter, and by far.
AR are mid-range. IE are mid/long-range. And gauss are long.
What need a buff here, is definitely gauss. Because everyone here speak about singularly, AR, IE as great weapons, but gauss is almost forgotten.
I’ve always seen gauss as a low dps positron cannon, witch is just weird. Now that they have both have 2 charge, they have the same mechanic except low barrel on positron (Sniping weapon, who care?).

Definitely true. The dps is absolutely miniscule.
Is very small DPS for gauss BUT it is great for kill stealing especially if you are cap. even then it takes 2-3 charged shots to take down some ships as cap.

Gauss is a specialized weapon. It is a long range anti interceptor gun. It is all about charging shots and critical builds. Also, in a gunship with overdrive, the RoF is almost the same than the standard AR, which is funny

Nah man gauss is well over powered. I can 1-2 shot interceptors in my tackler. its not designed to take down large ships

Yeah I know, that’s what I do with my bear. I just find Gauss completely under-powered when compared to positron.
Positron have double of gauss DPS with LRF. Higher damage crits ( plasma), longer range, and projectile speed is the same.
I two-shot guard’s shield with positron (Hello 13k damage) before they have time fit phase to plasma.
Gauss just don’t do any damage if you don’t attack light-ships. Gauss is, as said above, just nice for kill-stealing or playing with tacklers to kill inties. When compared to others fighters weapons, the choice is fast.
But I just love my Singularity cannon on my prom-x <3

thats like saying gauss is bad compared to coil mortar

Now try killing an Storm Viking, Jarl, Wakizashi or Falcon in T5 with gauss. On top of that add an Aura’s Hull resist aura and a Naga’s uber heals. Gauss are ok in T3 and maybe in T4 but I just had to drop them in T5 because they’re stupidly weak compared to any other weapon.

crit gauss builds can still drop intys quick in t5 on a tackler. its not as strong as the t3 version but its still very good

It is not very good because it’s garbage compared to Rails, Singularity and Ions.
Ofc you can still drop bad built intis in t5 on a Tackler, but try going sec con against a decent squad using a Gauss and enjoy your uselessness.
you can still drop good inty builds in pvp, sec con is a different story tho
