residente's (standard) Ships Build

yeah man, best one for bubbles. super cooled charges are pretty good on most other stuff but not that

So having almost constant firing without waiting is worse than an barely noticeable speed increase? Who needs speed when you have that projectile size in a close range fight?

try hitting pro interceptor / fighter pilots consistantly without it

try punching through self heals of pro guard/guard-engineers, without it

and hitting “pro” fighters with cooled isn’t much of an issue.

Pilots won’t learn anything shooting frigates that don’t move much.

Depends, trying to hit top fed fighter pilots can be pretty hard with cooled regardless of your skill. Sure it can be done with enough practise but to consitantly hit targets is a lot easier with the higher speed ammo. What good is having a lot of shots or shots with huge damage if most of them miss when it needs to count against those stronger players? Doesn’t matter if it is a new pilot trying to hit an average pilot or a strong pilot trying to hit an even stronger pilot, the higher projectile helps a lot with bubbles

yeah, and then people complain about frigballs. Inties are not the only ships out there, and to specificaly deal with inties you better of bringing something relyable anyways. So wolfm with boosted, unless specificaly built to deal with inties (which this build is clearly not) is less effective vs inties than specialised ship and plain useless vs hwy frigs.

Yeah it doesn’t do much vs heavy frigs but then again resi is suggesting to use super nova with bubbles which makes all builds bad vs fighters / intys useless and only useful for shooting frigates / n00bs. In the case of a new player not having resources for having super cooled, they should go with speed ammo instead but yeah, w/e that was my two cents for this thread in the guide section

In case snova vs boosted for nabs, i agre on definately boosted.

with speed ammo you don’t hold the left click,

you click it every time you want to shoot, so it doesen’t overheat fast

But you’re implying that supernova makes it impossible to hit medium and small ships, which isn’t true.

Also your first two cents were “ew supernova”.

So you do with any other ammo, with the exception that you will never need to wait for it to cool-down with Supercooled Charges.

but then you said this:

Well I think hitting that 1300-1400 (depending on tier) projectile speed is > than having more shots in the chamber. Have tried pretty much every combo and there are some builds that work nice with super cooled + implants but they become pretty niche as you lose the crit dmg. With having speed ammo you can reliably hit every target. Sure you become more of a support ship for killing that ball of guards in the middle of the map pretending to be rakza but for other situations your ship becomes the hunter (especially the fed fighters as they have more speed)

My personal advice is that, if you can afford to use supercooled charges, use them. I will trade +10% projectile speed for +60% overheating cycle all the day. You will lose 10% effectiveness against fast and good interceptors and you will gain 60% efectiveness against everything else.

In case you can’t use supercooled, I will go with speed ammo. Supernova on bubbles can work, but only as a specialized frigate hunting build.

I found really useful the combo of 6-3 implant, + supercooled + TTC if you think you will lose crit damage.

yeah that is a nice combo in t4/5 as most of the gunships also have 2/3 cpus

doesnt work in t3:(

i totally use that in t3

i partially eat my own words, tried it on paralax instead, it is quite nice as there is low crit chance anyway with only 1 cpu which is for proton wall

Could I see a Prometheus x and a Kris build please? As well as general usage tips

Could I see a Prometheus x and a Kris build please? As well as general usage tips

For Prometheus I’d go with the standard stuff. It also depends in what kind of Command you’re willing to play. Vernier on the engines, Energy/Heatsinks on the Capacitor depending if you go Diffusion Shield tank or rapid fire Railgun, your average resistances (usually kinetic + galva) on hull (some people put passive armor for more Diff Shield tank).

For weapons Railguns and Gauss are my choice always, some people use lasers, but with the lack of CPU I think your range might not be enough. On the command slots I’d go with hull aura, speed and dmg aura and 1 module for yourself

Kris is also pretty standard. Since it has no hull slot I’d skil the Emergency Barrier and put some energy regeneration on the cap, 3 adaptive shields on the shield slots because they’re awesome (they might not be your cup of tea, then you could put 1 EM 1 thermal and 1 whatever).

For weapons is also up to your play style, and the active modules go with energy drain, stasis and ion diffuser, the fourth one would also be for yourself.

Usage tips? I’d say with the Prometheus like most ships positioning is key, I always think strafe is very important so I’d go with the strafe implant all day. For kris just keep afterburning if you’re using adaptive shields, you need good rotation it will help you survive. Also play as a team player, don’t expect to do everything alone.

If you want pictures or more details tell me and I’ll try to do a better post when I get time.

I’ve bought The Lightbringer, what’s your advice? Can’t wait to hear it

What is your favorite weapon or weapons?

I’ve bought The Lightbringer, what’s your advice? Can’t wait to hear it

I don’t know what resi will tell you, but it will be really similar to this.

  • Engine: Vernier (or strafe with gauss)

  • Cap: Regen

  • Shield: Either adaptive or submatter. I prefer submatter, but it is up to you.

  • Hull: Thermal, kin, and galva

  • CPU: Proton wall, one IR and one TTC. (two TTC are also good)

Actives: Aiming overcharge, combat reboot, engine overcharge and repair Kit M.

Guns: Any will be ok, you will have to change your gameplay though

Bubbles with supercooling charges (or if that is too expensive for you, the speed boost ammo)

Assault rails with iridium ammo or critic ammo

Gauss with critic ammo

Laser with damage ammo

What is your favorite weapon or weapons?

rails
