I support JCNB’s standpoint, considering how these rewards are to help newer players “close the gap” in terms of wealth.
I’m not entitled to anything in this game. You either work for it (either by ranking up ships or grinding in OS), or you get to suck it up and deal with it.
I have worked my arse off to get to where I am now in this game, and I am damn proud of it. Many of you in this thread have also done the same.
However, I’m not crying about how the newer players “have it easy” with free handouts and how a more experienced player should also be entitled to these handouts. Which leads me to my next point.
No one in this thread has the right to demand more from the developers in terms of free resources. It is a slap in the face at the best, and shows that the player has complete disregrard for the developers’ intentions on helping newer players.
If you are unwilling to grind for the resources as a veteran, you are not allowed to demand these resources as a handout. If you do not do the effort, why should you be entitled to ask the developers for freebies? No don’t tell me that you worked your arse off _ IN THE PAST _for these.
You’re not going to go back to your old boss at your old job and demand more money for the work that you have done simply because your old boss pays more for the new employees, are you? That notion is stupid, and will simply make you the laughingstock of the company.
From my personal standpoint, I do not have the time to grind OS for these resources. And I am aware of this and the consequences of it. But the difference between me and the majority of you all in this thread is the fact that I am not asking the developers to GIBEFREEMONIEZPLOX. That is the definition of personal entitlement at best and is probably the worst thing all of you can do to affect the image of the veterans.
I hope all of you are happy with yourselves, starting this ridiculous “petition” to make the rich richer.
EDIT: I just saw OmegaFighter’s post. The ONLY time in which I will be okay with the views of the pilots in this thread is if the developers implement a series of challenging quests involving teamwork to make us work for these same rewards. At least then we will all get our rewards and still have to work for it. Once again, NO ONE is entitled to anything ANYWHERE. That is my bottom line.
But I will continue to reiterate my original point. Nobody in the game except for a very few players have the time or energy to sit down and just do nothing but play the game forever. As far as rewards go, I don’t see this as a demand. I just see this as a petition that will either succeed or go nowhere and in hopes of the development team seeing their design flaws. Personally, I am somewhat even relieved this came in because now the newer players won’t give up so quickly while they’re looking for brand swangly new ways to fit their Jaguar or construct their Archon.
Take a brief look at my corporation. Since I started I have literally gained new players and only a handful I could count to on one single hand who are even considerably more experienced players. Part of his is to the lights of that I know I’m never going to be at the very top of everything. I know it will take me a really lomg time to craft a Mjolnir or a Peregrine and I will have to grind for days and days to get there, but hey - while I’m helping others progress, maybe it’d be nice to get a little overdue reward myself.

It’s not about materials as such. Monocrystals are more of a unit of time, rather than of one’s wealth. You simply can’t get more monocrystals than X in Y days. Even if you nolife your xxxx off and be online literally 24/7, you can’t get more than 63 monos a week with a license, 42 without one.
…unless you’re a newb. Then just level your ships, do your dailies, and after two months of casual playing, you’ll have the equivalent of 1.5-1.8k monos. If you’re not a newb, two months of dailies will net you 336-504 monos.
In other words, for the duration of two months, a newb gets 1.04 of a monocrystal per HOUR, while a vet gets 0.23 of a monocrystal per hour (both examples with no license). What’s the difference between them? The vet got to start several months before the newb.
If you want to fix the gap between newbies and vets, give them credits, give them vouchers, give them iridium, so they can actually level their ships and gear. You can even give them free synergy. SP’s are reserved for veterans. If a newb wants a Secret Project ship, let them become a veteran first. Otherwise you’ll see more of Cruise Jags pooping drones, just this time their owners won’t even have 200 games played.
Mechromancer, you apparently didn’t read the part where this thread is asking for the ability to earn these rewards, not “give them to us for nothing”.
Ideally, a series of in game “veteran missions” would be the way forward, with scaling durations appropriate for the effort needed to get them for new players. Ie: the first might be as basic as “win 1 battle”, whereas the 15th might be to amass a large amount of efficiency, or complete x battles in rank 13+ ships.
Have you guys noticed that devs are not really giving this thread much attention?
Not saying it’s a bad idea to discuss something, even if it’s an exercise in futility like this, but there’s a lot of noise over something that’s never gonna see the light of day.
And let’s face it…handouts deprive you of sense of achievement.
It’s not about a sense of achievement, a gain above the newer players or any of that stuff. It’s simply about the case of that the newer players are getting an unreasonably excessive amount of materials for free when we have to grind for a whole week just to be able to manufacture a single one of these parts, even with a license. It would take about three or maybe even more weeks to get a single secret project for just one of us working from scratch; they, on the other hand, just have to craft three internal structures and they can do this in a matter of six days if you do the math.

The arguments being pushed forward over and over are still entirely valid, since a new account can obtain a destroyer + 1-2 SP ships with 2 months whereas the older players miss out on the bonuses for ranking up completely simply because they have been here for more than a few months.

I should also mention, that you can rank up immediately, if you purchase relevant Premium ships for all 3 factions.
If there is 50% Premium sale, or like 1945GS (9th of May - Victory Day), you can just buy 5 ships of each faction and get all those ranked rewards.
I have already settled with the idea that there will be nothing done about this, no rewards, no mission - nothing. Seems to be wisest but also the healthier approach for oneself; minimizing expectations, frustration will eventually subside, and voilá! - you will be a happier person. Instead, turn your focus and energy on something that is more… rewarding.
