Remove Synergy Gap from ships of Rank 1 to Rank 6

Devs, you are losing players right? I know whose to blame ([whisper] sir gap) and I got an idea which can help you remedy your failure.

For now, to tell a new player not to get T2 purple module is impossible. Newbies who can make it through rank 1 to rank 3 with this synergy gapping system already deserve an applaud. Things are even worse when they get into T2, where the trouble begins. Most of them just can’t wait for better ships of higher tier, because they already understand the basics of the game.

Well, the current game setting is making this happening way too slow. They not only need credits to buy ships and modules, but also have to get through a really long, boring and hard time. They need to level their ships one by one, synergy by synergy, role by role.

Even suppose I am a newbie, I would rather pay to skip that rediculous grinding, and I’ll just buy DLCs and Premiums. That’s just what devs want to see: more newbies buying long term items with real money.

But, never be too greedy, devs. By doing as above you actually sending most newbies away from the game. Devs, please remember this: F2P players is always much more than P2P players in any free to play games. Especially for newbies who don’t know if their investment is rather worthy. So they try to play for a while. However, this synergy gap system (known as sir gap) say no to them: “YOU HAVE TO GRIND GRIIND GRIIIND. YOU ARE MY SLAVES”. This xxxxxxx sir gap freaks out newbies damn well.

That’s probably why your game don’t get much population.

For a fix, please remove synergy gap (basterd sir gap) lying on (time to kick sir gap’s xxxx) rank 1 to rank 6 ships. Which means newbies can buy

any rank 6 ships by unlocking the preceeding ship while invest 0 synergy on the preceeding ship. The synergy gap starts at rank 6 (sir gap finally hold the ground above T3). And slowly, a newbie will decide which path of role or class they’re going to choose in T3 and above (sir gap need you to grind, but the grinding is never too hard for T3, as T3 PVP is the most populated Tier in the quene, and T4-5 PVP is only for pros not for newbies).

(Negotiaton with sir gap completed, newbies are finally saved.)

In conclusion, you let newbies try all roles of ships in T1 and T2 if they want to, remove synergy gap lying on all rank 1 to rank 6 ships. For Rank 1 to Rank 6 ships, you need to buy the preceding ships to unlock next rank, all synergy gap for those ships are removed. In addition, you can still max the synergy of those ships if you want to build up fleet strengh. The synergy gap appears at rank 6 and each rank 6 ship needs to get the required synergy level to open up the path to rank 7 ships.

(Warning: this maybe the final chance at saving newbies from the sir gap’s hands)

i like this idea  :fed001:

i would make low tiers easy and enjoyable as possible too :rudolf:

When I read this, I almost crapped myself.

+10 for humour :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

To be serious now, they won’t change that. It’s fine as it is. T1 and T2 synergy gains and requirements are fine as they are now.

The problem is T3 and especially T4 (worst kind). T5 is end game tier and it will require the most of the work, but it’s understandable.

If you don’t like it, buy all DLC packs and a Premium License.

T2 premium ships will help you assemble free synergy or you can just play T3 premium ships.

Use free synergy option to rank up your ship standard synergy tree, or play it normally to get your ships to level in the fastest possible time.

You can also play PVE, at least 1 match per day.

I needed over a year and a half to get everything.

You don’t have to get everything. You can get, what you really like.

I want my ship rooster to be complete as much as possible.

I don’t know about your preferences, but your reasoning, at least from my perspective, it’s only partially correct, but it’s the main reason, why we lack players.

We have NO ADVERTISEMENT. That’s the main reason, the game is known so little and much less popular. I am sure that 90% of Freelancer population would at least try this game, since it can be quite decent and enjoyable.

That’s all.

Leaderboards seem to indicate that over the course of the game, about 350k people at least created an account. Weekly Leaderboards seem to indicate about 3.5k different active players over the course of a week. This is about 1% retention. Is this good or bad in relation to industry average for related games?

If we assume the same ratio for any new/additional players, 3.5 mil accounts would have to be addressed to increase player base to 35k. Is this even feasible for this type of game? Is the cost for such a campaign in line with expected revenue?

Apparently not, or they would have done it.

Would they not?

Well, you have to consider the fact that weekly leaderboards only consider T4/5. But it doesn’t make the numbers look that much better, honestly. I remember reading somewhere that an average F2P game gets about 1% of its playerbase to pay - if this game only retains 1%, then clearly they’re not making that mark.

Don’t you see that chat spam of premium ships being bought on sales? They’re still pretty expensive. I’m pretty sure it’s more than 1% of the active player base.

Good point. I dunno.

This was put for the same reason that we see who is premium in the end of the matches - to promote buying stuff out of envy. That is low.

It’s not low, it’s marketing and it’s perfectly fair and valid. It’s indeed obnoxious, but it’s far from low. It’s a pretty standard mechanic and it exists because lots of people fall for it.
