Hey guys, just a new player here posting a petition because I feel some of the current system is unfair. I also agree that most of the latter game weapons shred through armor of my T2 fighter as well but ya know.
Faction based abilities do absolutely nothing to any games. It either makes it unbalanced or they have no point to them at all. Currently - the only “good” abilities for the Federation is Stealth. This only helps to escape and does not help offensive abilities whatsoever. The Frigates are ever so tanky and easily taken out (unless perhaps you are a faster one) by the many long range weapons that are ever so popular in the other races.
Please don’t get me wrong - I love this game - it just seems to have shifted focus as of the last few days I played it.
Right when it was released, the Federation was up by many wins. I believe 80,000 or 100,000 wins was about it. I played it then, and as time went on more problems came in. T3 ships obviously had the advantage against my new fighters, as my weapons barely scratched the hull and they could easily pick me off with one of their latter game weapons. The frigate is pointless in almost every game unless you come across a batch of suicidal new players.
It seems that this game has shifted from dogfighting - the main element of the game - to sniping and running. Snipers don’t have to even work that hard. If you get in close enough they have enough health to withstand several missiles - along with your primary constantly firing. The missiles from Jericho impact a large radius, and do team damage. Aces (like me) who have joined that faction and just obtained a Zealot have destroyed my ship several times due to close detonations which have only served them better.
Jericho and Empire obviously have the up here. The current tally leads the Federation by 30,000. If that doesn’t show much - almost every player now owns it thanks to the ridiculous pack deal which makes it more of a play to win than anything else.
So please, do you agree that there should be ships in each faction with these abilities, so that hardworking players like me have to either change factions (which cost a crap ton of money once you’re past lvl 4) or create an entirely new account just to play sniper.
Anyone want to respond - please?
i would like to see the abilities being costumizable for all races, so that all ships of CLASS X (interceptor ECM, interceptor ENERGY are two different classes. as an example)) are able to use the same abilities which then change stats on the ship to a certain amount as well as add the ability you wished to have on the ship.
one of the issue’s with this is balance. i am not sure how much thought was put into this by the devs side, but if ALL!! stats on the ships are balanced around the active abilities then something like this would be impossible to balance and thereby cant be changed.
but if they aint it would be wonderfull, i wanted to fly jaricho duo to their shield tanking which i generally like but their abilities was something completely different then my playstyle therefore i use empire instead even though i dont like the empires story nor their ship look or their general ship stats, the abilities are just so alpha omega of the ships that it forces you to play a race based on abilities beyound anything else, which is sad.
I think these abilities should be role specific rather than faction, It is possible to do so as well due to ship role differing from each faction. Some races would have more ships with one ability than others but overall they are capable of using the 9 abilities already in the game.
It just seems natural for this game, the way it is already set up to focused on the roles each vessel plays, like ECM, Command, Protector. I can’t really give out a good reason why but these abilities bring up quite a bit of concern to players. Its like when you choose a faction, that is how you are going to play for that faction and honestly it makes anything like faction buffs and weapons a bit pointless. I play Empire and to have an interceptor that can dash in and out of a fight or assassinate targets early game, to a frigate that is just as durable as it is powerful with its sniping ability just doesn’t feel right. And personally I think it might not be good for a game like this.
frigs are fast food for a properly dancing interceptor, sneak around them use cover, then blast on their lower hull, they cant shoot you and can try to struggle as much as they want while you can happily chew away, put an achilles system and some other module in combination and youll eat them
Just find the ship working for you, i like for example the offensive power of a jericho interceptor, get in, plasma web -> open fire, kill, and wiggle through cover away, maybe blast some specially thickheaded interceptor away
It all depends on your use of the ship, i also fly a fed frigate, have active support modules and move with the bulk of the team, my drones take out missiles, my plasma cannons make short work of most enemys and the buffs give me plenty of points
And lastly i fly a fed fighter, sneaky around cover, single out a target, annihilate it and retreat, stealth is a feds best friend
Faction-based vs role-based is a good argument. I’d be down for role-based over faction-based.

In the captain mode (forget what it’s called) the stealth of a Fed Fighter can be great for getting around/behind the captain and forcing them into open area (thereby killing). What I’m trying to say is that the stealth works great if you use it tactically. Don’t get me wrong, it can be used defensively in fleeing, but it can be used offensively as well.

As far as pay to win is concerned, I don’t really feel like the game is pay to win, more of pay to save time. The equipment being purchased is equal to a mkIII, and the ships have similar stats overall (some do seem slightly stronger than others of that tier, but it’s not considerably different).
Moreover, on higher tiers it seems like less and less people snipe (in my experience), and the fields themselves don’t really seem to lend themselves to that type of thing. Dogfighting is still huge, but you do need to know your targets. An interceptor running straight towards a sniping frigate won’t be able to succeed. However, if the interceptor sneaks around, or is otherwise concealed, they can easily take out a frigate (sniping or no) based on their ability to out maneuver.
It is not pay to win. That is all.
