So… GM applications are a popularity contest?..
We could use “the match” chanell too. it would save us the common mistake of writing in global after the match and clear the chat from nonsense a bit Some sort of indiction of how many players are waiting in the queue of certain type would be nice…(just like it was before- think it was very nice) That would save some GM’s work (having to explain the waiting times of 10m+…) and ease the pressure on new players a bit. BTW could forum not be included in the game client ? That would probably increase the amount of viewings of the above. Not everyone is a fan of additional application that they have to follow. Ppl would get the info throught the game having to log in only once (game login).

Uh, unless you want a untrustworthy person a GM power monger, then I rather have someone I like as a GM then a wierdo that does what ever he wants.

I don’t, but there’s always a bit of that in every GM, tipping the balance in their favour.
Don’t get me wrong, this comes from past experience applying for and being a GM. I got booted cause the other Mods didn’t quite liked how I tried to resolve things peacefully.
So as i GM you do the same stuff i do anyways?
Having a penalty button would be nice though, ive seen about someone spamming the whole global chat full. Would have sent him a warning and if they dont stop, a one day ban.
The “take over other small tasks” part is what i wanna know what it means, if its something intresting, ill apply. (I would barely use the penalty button, so the task part is the only thing that interests me).

I doubt we are gonna have the same issue in this game. All the current GMS are very nice and give everyone fair warning. Hell I see Censored throwing down a simple message to keep chat clean.
And how does one get booted to resolve things peaceably?! Isn’t that the whole point of having a GM?
When Im presented to a difficult situation, I have a step by step process. I warn, I explain, then I penalize, and repeat.
I figured I’d throw my name into the hat for the glory of the Empire and NASA. We shall rule all - forums and game!

That’s how any GM would do things. Not on the places I’ve been. They were just idiots. Their way of resolving things was instant warning, kick or ban. Trying to reason with those communities was something unfathomable, it seems.

Well be rest assured, we wont have that in this game. Everyone that plays this game, do to its complexity, is more then 17+.
Im 20 years old and I find that to be the proper age to be a GM, the childish tendencys are gone.
But sometimes, I do promote my sweet rolls a little to much…I gotta lay off them once in a while…
I’d apply if they needed a GMT prime time GM. Ohwell…
Actually, there are a lot of less than 17 year old in this game. I can name a few already.
Hell, I started playing EVE online at the age of 15, and this game’s “complexity” is nothing in comparison.
Here’s my 2 cents about the possible new GM’s. Whoever makes the short list better have a GOOD understanding of the game and that would really narrow down the choices in this tread already.
- GM’s better not be stuck in tier 2 because this is the training level along with Tier 1.(Tier 3&4 is a whole other world compared to Tier 1&2)
- GM’s better be 18+ of age, because you have a responsibility to uphold here!

Hey, I play T2 because I prefer to. Playing T3s as an indie is… well, it isn’t a nice thing. And blue gear doesn’t help me survive any longer vs the current Frigball meta.

I disagree that the tier someone might prefer should have anything to do with whether or not they make a good GM/Moderator. I strongly believe that being a fair and objective judge in controversial situations is far more important. A GM should be well-spoken, well-mannered and have the ability to argue their case when their decision is questioned. They should also be strong of character and not easily influenced by the whispers of other individuals around them. I would further add attributes that include a level of maturity above that of the main player base, and an excellent judge of character.

Sounds like your stuck between a rock and frigate ball. Frigballs can be countered but you refuse to believe this and complain. The single most deciding factor is who you are teamed up with. The randoms have a big affect on how the match is going to play out. This is why i prefer 4 vs 4 because I know how my squad is going to respond. Sorry for going off topic

I’ve heard all the "I prefer tier this over that tier " but what I was trying to say is the GM better know how ALL the tiers work. This game has a BIG road block between T2 and T3. The jump from T3 to T4 in nothing in comparison. If you understand this then you might make a good Game MASTER.

While our priority is to find people who are as you described, knowledge of the game is also a very important factor. GMs must respond to questions presented to them about the game, and are expected to assist players in topics ranging from mechanics to metagame.
What tier you prefer does not matter so long as the GM has a good grasp of all tiers.

Frigballs CAN’T be countered effectively. What’re you gonna do? Keep suiciding yourself on them? Their only drawback is speed. If you rush in on a small number of them, you have a chance at breaking the entire blockade. That’s it.
In Domination matches, this happens a lot and Frigballs are countered on a daily basis to the point where people have given up on bringing them.
On Beacon Hunt, your only option is to rush ahead of the ball to the next beacon and hope the Guards don’t counter missiles or nukes you launched on the Engies when they gated in ahead of everything else.
On Recon you have NO choice but to camp. If they’re on Frigates, it’s their fault for being idiots as a pair of covOps can simply melt them down to nothing, leaving you to nitpick at the rest of them easily enough.
And on Detonation… It makes no sense bringing them due to the sheer vastness of the map you have to traverse. As it is on Domination, escorting the Bomb on Frigates can be your team’s downfall as enemy ceptors can VERY easily outrun your Frigates and hide quickly enough to plant them. Pulsars and Minefields won’t work as effectively when your target knows how to avoid them.
So yes, Frigballs are still the current meta because most of the matches I’ve been in (roughly 70%, T2/3 included) ALWAYS include Beacons. And those ALWAYS include Frigballs.
