It would have to be a computational collision system. Remember how ramming worked back then? yeah that was too insane. Put the slow and heavy type could literally ram your opponent if you catch them off guard.
I know ramming should be based on hull… but this makes it quite unfair for Jeri ships. Unless somehow you can ram people using shields + J9 implant…
That was kinda my thought. Although, consider that frigates already have more hitpoints (armor) than their smaller counterparts, so that alone gives them an advantage when colliding with another player.
Also keep in mind that if a player was going to try to build a ramming frigate, he’d be better off going with a Federation Frigate than an Empire one, simply because you would need all the speed and acceleration bonuses you can throw on to offset the weight of the armor. I doubt a 24m/s Styx will be able to ram anything very effectively.
“Hunker down” where you sacrifice your sheild to beef up your armor and you slow down taking a 50% speed penalty while able to tank approx 35% more damage.

That would be the special ability of the non-existent Empire Guard Frigate.

I really think weight of armor should be considered. Jericho ships should not be SLOWER than heavliy armored Empire ships. It does not really make any sense. Sheilds dont have weight, in reality the jericho ships should be near on par with federation.

You need machinery and generators to run shields. It makes sense.

Not really. Jericho ships are unmanned as well, they dont need life support systems at all, and they look like they are built for atmospheric deployment. I think they are the lightest of all the ships if you count raw weight.
One of the most annoying physics issues I’ve seen is with warping. I remember accidentaly warping into a swift in a zealot and it flew off and I blew up.
Depending on ship shape and hull strength, ramming should do much more damage, as to be used as a last-ditch method of taking down a target. A ship like the Reaper, Razor, Sai or Sawtooth would do heaps of damage because of their “spears” that they have on the fronts of their ships. Other ships like the Raptor and essentially all other flat ships would do very little ramming damage unless warping. Warping ships should destroy any ship that they hit immediately, as they are moving much faster than any other munition and also carry much more destructive force.
