radiation

what about adding DOT for people caught within the nukes range? mods can be added to reduce the amount of radiation taken by your ship. sure this would make the nuke even more OP but we could drop the main nuke damage by like 3-4k and make the DOT 3-4k so technically it stays the same. and with the Anti-radiation mods it would make the nukes LESS powerful which will hopefully reduce nuke spam.

Radiation would do squat to a spaceship; they’re constantly being hit by the stuff already!

true but the crew might get hit more since its such a powerful blast. unless the radiation in space is more powerful than a nuke

You don’t have the Earth’s magnetic field in space. Nor do you have air. Hence, all types of radiation would be able to traverse a much greater distance.

Do you have any idea how much power a star puts out? Where it not for our atmosphere, the sun would irradiate this planet into a glowing red desert and kill every living thing on it in the space of a few days, if not a few hours.

And it can do that from 10 light minutes away. Detonate a nuke in space, with or without our atmosphere, and all we’d notice is maybe some EM damage to our satellite network.

Nukes don’t produce fireballs in space, either.

To be fair, very little produces a fireball in space. A brief pop and a flash, perhaps, but explosions? No chance. Not enough fuel, for starters.

Although if you want proof that a nuclear fusion reaction can produce a fireball… look up.  :taunt:

Nuclear fusion D/T reaction would have to be very powerful to produce a burst that lasted even a few milliseconds.
