Can some1 explain how the top right screen radar works?
what is the inner circle range?
what are the lines extending from ships?
we need a small explainaiton added to the help menu

I always thought the radar to be pretty straight forward, but it’s hard to explain without looking at it ingame so someone else has to do that job for me until i come home in 3-4 hours.
Lines extending off the ships represent difference in elevation - planes, or specificaly line-plane intersection and rotation, if you will, which is most important thing to know. Range, well, you can get the feeling for it, same as with planes.

A three-dimensional rotation, with an axis of rotation along the z-axis and a plane of rotation in the xy-plane
In a double rotation there are two planes of rotation, no fixed planes, and the only fixed point is the origin. The rotation can be said to take place in both planes of rotation, as points in them are rotated within the planes. These planes are orthogonal, that is they have no vectors in common so every vector in one plane is at right angles to every vector in the other plane. The two rotation planes span four-dimensional space, so every point in the space can be specified by two points, one on each of the planes.
And this is where the lines come from.
just a little experimentation vertical lines in the radar mean the craft is higher than you when they are N of the craft
opposite is true for those below u
length of the line shows how far up or below ships are,
the inner circle is 3000 m
some changes i think wuld be usefull:
as a command the radar can be really usefull to optimize buffs if u position ur self to get an extra ship or 2 or 3
the full range of the radar i dunno?
Exactly.
Radar itself is pretty close range tough. Buffs ussualy aplly in a much wider radius. You can see the number of ships affected (or would be affected) represented by the number on your buff module icon.
Radar goes up to your sensor range IFF nothing else is near you, not even rocks.
It’s hard to define your sensor range since you share targeting information with your allies. For most cases, native sensor ranges are pretty short, so same applies for the radar, which can be just a bit outside of singularity range (without range upgrades).
In all honesty the current radar is a near-total bust.
I rarely use it, but when I use it, it is very helpful ^^ I would hate to see it changed for the worse.

Here is a screen shot of a 13.5 Sensor range
If you look at the enemies they are below me and on the edge of a sensor range and looking at the radar they have a line above them indicating that they are in fact below me and they are on the edge of the radar.

I generally use it for “where’s that engineer while I’m going up down left and right because someone’s trying to kill me.” It’s a little annoying that it’s based on your sensor range, since some sensor ranges are low. But if you try to use the 3D map and you have a large sensor range then all the nearby ships are grouped in a tiny little area so you can’t actually pick out who’s closest.
