Race for Sirius is coming to an end! (Discussion)

Look at who are not happy with the new prerequisites…

I want to warmly welcome you to this side of the forum, now, let me join you in the complain ![:005j:](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/005j.png “:005j:”)

One of the thing (minor, as long as you grind) is that the new component (the CPU) needs to be bought and adds an extra cost in credits to the construction compared to the Sirius. Must do the maths to see if the total credit price is higher.

That new component is not really necessary for players, but follows the latest agressive marketing pattern that plays on frustration from Gaijin.

No need to tell you that I’m not happy, especially when you know that the Empire will probably follow the same path…

Edit: got the astonishing number of 800$/ € worth in Ressources pack if you want to “buy” it …

My opinion on the resources is that at this point the rewards for the event tasks are quite low, but seeing Cin has said on page 1 of this thread already that we have to do just the event tasks for the needed resources and has said the same thing again on page 9, i’ll give the devs the benefit of the doubt and wait for some sort of increase in rewards.

Steam review needs to be done. I am waiting for 1.4.0 update, then I will be able to describe the whole experience around current events in a nice summary.

I got a huge collections of ups and downs documented, but the most important thing is, how will they manage this from now on?

(S)Targem is probably just a side-victim here, but this is only my speculation.

Jericho destroyer activator, Empire destroyer activator, probably something new for the rumored 4th destroyer as well…

The best thing to do, if they really needed to implement something like this, it would be to have Universal destroyer component.

Who knows, maybe next Empire destroyer will require everything from each category, so it will be even harder to acquire than a Tyrant.

Destroyer Engine Package, Destroyer Reactor Package, Destroyer Shield Package, Destroyer Hull package, etc…

To be honest, I think that if Sirius ever comes back, you will then need the Sirius activator as well, so it will be more expensive in the future, than it was now.

Events that are available now, should at least provide majority, if not all, with enough components to get 3 destroyer CPU structures.

So, if you are willing to spend time and much less money, maybe not even that, then you’re able to acquire it.

The only downside is, that this event is limited and that it will benefit current players, but not the ones in the future, which is right, in my opinion.

Sorry for the last post, forum bug and I couldn’t suppress the quote for no reasons. Also this editor is really xxxx because we can’t have access to the source.

Anyway, funny how things are going and now people suddenly agree with me hahaha. Popcorn time.

I’d love to see the math behind that statement.

Especially considering that dollars and euros are anything but equal.

Yup, but SC consider they are the same.  ![](< base_url >/uploads/emoticons/014j.png “”)

Praise the random containers. With bad luck you need a minimum of 60x the 5x container pack for 5 Jericho activator, which makes you climb at something like 80k+ GS. Then you have the approx for everything like beryllium, neodium, mono’s and other parts.

Also, I allowed myself to kindly ask someone who bought one this afternoon. He “thanked” (S) Targem with 800$ for their *ahem* *cough* hardwork…

I think Swifter said everything

I asked him. Just a $100. Also don’t you think that spiting on someone on their own forum can be considered rude?

It is, but sadly it is the norm lately.

CinnamonFake, can you do anything about the complete lack of mention of Destroyer Computing Systems being added to the workshop? At least five people, myself including, crafted Computing Systems instead since the icons for these two components are identical, and nowhere in the patch notes or Twitch stream were new components mentioned, only new ingredients.

Don’t you think that it’s rude to post a news a 1st April (2014), telling every players that they will enhance groups going in pvp (rewards like +% xp/credits for being in group to encourage corporation and people to play toghether), enchance Open space, and more things I can’t remember… and in the end was just a xxxx april’s fools, a big midle finger to all veterans and players having big hopes for the game back then ?

Anyway, that was off-topic.

I don’t know if you’re talking about just the Jericho Activator (if it’s the case, I said in the worst case, bad luck, it’s almost 200 max (60x -< 5x pack for 5 JA. So of course, you can go down to 100 with luck))

To give you a rough estimate of the current luck of it, i got 37 Activators in 50 boxes, how’s that for chance with Electrum in the same box ![:007_2:](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/007_2.png “:007_2:”)

“You need Jericho Destroyer activators” is not the same as “You need activators to build a new component.” All destroyers until now have always needed the same five basic ship components, with the sixth components (Destroyer Internal Structures, Stabilized Destroyer Structures, etc.) being the unique part for that rank of ship. The word “component” was never mentioned in the patch notes, or spoken in the stream. Go back and check.

I stand corrected. Shame on me for only reading every line of the patch notes, and only watching 24 minutes of the stream. Next time I’ll be sure to sit riveted to my screen to catch every second of “Um, uhhh, here’s the ship…” until a critically important detail is mentioned. That’ll teach me to use my time for anything other than combing through rambling dev streams.

Seriously though. The fact that such a key detail existed nowhere else, except for a 10 second mention buried in a 40 minute stream, speaks volumes about the capabilities of the devs to communicate with their players.

This has to be one of the worst events they’ve ever had, if not the worst. First there’s the length, to me an event in an online game is suppose to be a fun distraction from the usual grind all online games have. They’ll typically last a few days, to a few weeks at most, where typically the longer ones are just things with optional themed event dungeons, XP boost events, or the like. In SC this year we’re getting events lasting multiple months long, that are focused on specific daily tasks. At least the last long one (the alien themed one that I think is over now, maybe) was somewhat better as there was some variation between tasks, with periodic breaks (which may not have been intentionally planned though). Here I’m pretty sure it’s the same ones as in the rank 8, and 11 destroyer release events, except the rank 11 one had a kill/assist one using a destroyer where you needed to use a specific weapon. This makes an event like this, that lasts this long (about three months) feel not like a distraction from the usual grind, but a new grind.

Next there’s the nature of the tasks, now both have been “fixed” so they can only be done in PvP missions, because we supposedly need to put forth some effort to get them done, to get something that has no direct relation to PvP, and is widely disliked when used in PvP. Thing that buggers that reasoning even more is how the degree of effort, and especially skill actually required is very, very low, as all you need to do, is do any amount of damage, to the required number of targets, which eventually are killed that round, over any number of rounds. You could put forth virtually zero effort, yet still complete the tasks, and if you don’t like PvP, hate every minute of it. Back in the rank 8 destroyer release event already there was people coming to the forums that were into PvP, complaining that people were screwing up the missions as they were completely ignoring the objectives of the PvP mission, and only attacking the destroyers, because as even a dev acknowledged, they were only there for the destroyer event task, not for the PvP mission. If it wasn’t bad enough many people into PvP find that “destroyers have destroyed the game,” now these events are making what they like, the PvP, worse, as it’s dragging in people that couldn’t care less about winning, as they just want to do the event task, and the PvPers will need to put up with those people messing things up for them for about three months. Rather than helping to promote this aspect of the game, it’s like you’re trying to make everyone dislike it with events such as this.

What would help with the nature of the event tasks is if we had more options, and variation. Like letting us choose any one of the following tasks, and get all the daily material event rewards:

  • Win a PvP mission, using any type of ship.
  • Win a Fire Support PvE task, without using a destroyer.
  • Win a Defence Contract PvE task, when using a destroyer.
  • Win a Co-Op mission where you killed, or assisted in the destruction of at least two destroyers in that round, using any type of ship.
  • Win a Special Operation, using any type of ship.
  • Kill X number of Hunters in Open Space, when doing at least 50% of the damage, and without being assisted by station defence weapons, using any type of ship.

By not having to do the same task, every day, and with it focused on completing the mission in group content, not some side action, people get to do more of what they want, and it would take more effort than the current tasks do. At least this way the long event, would feel less grindy.
