They are going to nerf gauss AND hull. Who knows what will happen to empire recons.

No one said they are going to nerf Hull, the might as well Buff Shields instead
Either way it’s going to be a relative nerf to empire ships.
The balance is needed. I think it’s noteworthy that the devs looked at k/d ratios as part of their balancing.
HI all, spent some time on the Falcon-M and i like it more than the Gray Falcon coz of the 2 cpu slots basically…
ATM i’m on pulse with curved reflector and i’m having fun with them…but noticed that all of the top players flying ceptors are stuck on the shrapnel…Am i right? Any suggestion?

Shrapnel cannon is the best weapon for the interceptor. Its made for extremely good pilots as it requires exceptional aim. Missing a single shot with the cannon and not being in the right optimal range is deadly. As it can mean life or death in a tight dogfight.

They stick with shrapnel because it is most “versatile” weapon, you can fight any class/role with that weapon, while other have tradeoffs here and there, when you go for a specific task on battle field and depending on a role you might ended up with different weapons.
P.S. I still dont get the point of a Plasma Gun though.

mmm. exceptional aim lol…Got a serous question then…What’s the right balance between mouse sensivity in game options and DPI—
ATM i’m on 1600 dpi spometime 800 with zoom plus ion lasers…Mouse sensitivity in game options is about 1/3 of the full bar…

Exactly what he said…I use Pulse Laser for my beacon defense ships but Shrapnel for everything else…especially when that’s the lowest resist category on most people’s hulls. The other weapons just don’t do enough Alpha dmg either.
The Plasma gun used to be soooo much better. I wish they would bring back the old assault plasma mechanics…it was such a better gun back then.
For instance, I can accurately tell you that that weapon can do nearly 5K Dmg in a single hit with Orion turned on.
But you have to be in optimal range not miss your mark for that to happen.

And that brings me to another questio…Still can’t understand where to read the optimal range of each weapon…?
And nobody still answered on mouse sensitivity dpi settings

a) it is about 30% from maximum
b) There is no “optimal” it is depends on a person and his gaming setup, such as how much space you can afford for mouse movements. The only thing that is common is you MUST turn OFF acceleration for mouse cursor.
Test dummies for mouse setup:

For some odd reason they display maximum range only (long ago it was optimal only). As xKostyan tried to say, optimal is maximum / 1.3. Damage falls off sharply outside of optimal range down to only 30% at maximum range (and in the case of shrapnel much faster and for more because you’ll miss with a lot of the projectiles).

NIce info guys thanx a lot…
Xkostan at the link you poste what is considered a good result in the challenge mode…? just to know if i set everything well…looks like i can’t hit more than 20-25 targets…

Get Takamina to perform and see what he get :)))

I got 33 on the second and 31 on the third try. Don’t have the time to see if I can push it higher but I probably can. Might be a bit luck based as the pattern the dots spawn in seems to be random.
I pull 35-45 atm, but i am at work and have crappiest mouse there is and not tuned (acceleration/sensetivity) for gaming, i dont even have a mouse pad here :)))
Are we doing the same option in that application? I Just click “Challenge” without changing any settings.

yep challenge on the links u posted… i’m quite crap then lol
Normally the best thing to calculate the optimal range is to take the Max range and take out -350 Meters. (correct me if I am wrong here)
So it would be like,
(Max Range) - (350) = Optimal Range.

Optimal range is not fixed, it is dependant on maximum range, meaning it will fluctuate a lot and 350 is very-very inaccurate.
i.e. If your max range is 1000km your optimal would be around 700km; 4 000km Max -> 2800km optimal, and when you introduce Horizons it gets screwed up
