Any tips for moving up to T4? How is the metagame different from T3? Presently I have a Nodachi and a Garm, and I’m intending to farm for a Minotaur and a Tiger first. Haven’t decided on my last ship yet… for now I’m considering a Tormentor AE.
I will recommend having enough free synergy to level up ships up to level 4, and at least active modules and weapons should be green.
Other than that, T4 ships have more firepower (rank 11 implant) more powerful modules/ better recharge time (rank 10 implant) and better basic stats (more passive slots) than the tier 3 ships. Currently you will see less fighters and more frigballs / inty swarms.
T5 ships have the same slots than T4, but they have some small advantages with implants. Faster recharge (rank 13) invulnerability to effects for 8 seconds first time they drop shields (rank 14) and more firepower / health (rank 15) You should not be afraid of them. Any well flown rank 11 can beat any rank 15 and overcome the slight advantages.
Just be aware that stock ships are stock ships, and it will get you some time to improve modules and ships. We all have been there, but once you have your ships elite and understand the metagame in tier 4, you won’t want to go back to tier 3, where everything happens so slow…
Falcons are squishy, predictable and only have burst DPS. I’m more worried about the 3.6 sec stun of the waki AE or a coil spammer LRF.
What you should fear is some skilled pilots, no matter what ship they fly. A falcon M flown by a random pub is as deadly as a craddle of sleeping kittens.
With this i don’t really agree. We are not talking about a lonely CO, we are talking about a flock of them. There are many games where more than half the enemy team goes CO, the rest ECM/Recon. They are so freaking annoying 'cause you have to switch targets all the time. And they also move faster if it’s a gamemode involving beacons and mobility. With a coordinated team they go down fast most likely, but in randoms…uf.
As I said, if you are with only T4 ships but with a rating above 1300, you are matched against 1300+ players with either T4 or T5 or even only T5. I have the impression there is only one queue for T4/T5 with 1300+.
I’m around 1300, going up and down, and playing either only T4 or only T5, so I can notice the difference between 1300+ and 1300-.
You actually queue T4 Evi? Not T5? With > 1300 rating? I know we can get matched with T4 players, but for them the queue might be different.
I’m playing with full tier 4 lineup, I have >1600 rating and I’m getting matched in T4 and T5 games vs average players (from 800 to 1000 DSR) and here and there the usual veteran with more than 1300 DSR.
Special queue is for tier 5 only (I think rank 15 only) ships, with >1300 rating.

Not really, I get T4 players in my games with a full T5 rank 14-15 lineup. And if you mean the special queue is for rank 15 only, than it’s useless, i don’t think there are players playing without R14 in their lineup. Not enough to make a separate queue anyway.

I play with full rank 15 ships when I want to join that queue. It is easy to say if you are in the special queue or not. Just check if you have bots in the game. If you don’t you are in special queue.

Nerf to the inties!
YES! Completely agree. Especially when those cov ops are t5 and you are trying to T4 it up. And when the tough squads get in que and bring their inty balls, their coordinated efforts make them even more lethal. Its basically like frig balls, but the ships are much more mobile, lethal, versatile, and so friggin hard to hit when you get stuck on a Russian server. T4 intys aren’t as bad imo, its just those psychotic falcons and wakisashis lol.

I have 1300+ SR but I don’t consider myself a veteran. :fed003:

300 is my minimal ping, unless I get on the South Asian server somehow. T4 is a frightening and mysterious place.

Ouch… With that ping, I’d have to stay in a big or support ship and help the team. Would be near impossible to deal with most of the up-front dog fighting. That is probably your best bet for staring out in T4 anyways, as the T5 brawler ships are significantly better generally.

That’s why I fly tacklers, ECMs and engies, and that’s also why I want to ditch the JLRF in my lineup.

You should try command. They are often not used enough, and a good long range command build that is tanky and gives good buffs can REALLY help out your team.
I just don’t understand how the devs still think that its fair to pit newbie R10 players against players flying R15.
They don’t have experience or proper modules on the ship and they simply end up getting farmed by experienced t5 players
Its like they stand no chance unless they’re flying an interceptors and are fairly decent inty pilots. And i’m not talking about vetern pilots flying T4 I’m talking about people who just acquired their first t4 ship and happen to have more than 1300 SR

T4 va T5 is not that unfair.
What’s funy out there is that I’m grinding the t4 interceptors with full mk1 (Saving credits to pay next ship) and have to do insane move to survive.
Never had that much fun. To zip between enemies thanks to unfair fights is fun.

Well, when I queued in this morning, it was perfectly fair. I got a lot of slayer of immortals medals, and did my fair share of playing (one match, I got top score with 10 assists and 1 capture, grumble grumble kill stealers grumble grumble). Both games I played were really close, even with my shaky green r10/11 lineup.
But then again, I’ve had a bunch of 2v2s when I play in the evenings/nights here, and when I have to face some T5 veteran alone because the other guy died in about three seconds to their purple lasers, while still trying to get used to the fact that cooldowns are practically non-existant when the other guy feeds so many kills and that keeping track of if the enemy’s had their shields down or not yet is actually important, it doesn’t feel so fair.
